Risky flming border crossings. You will find in many countries, illegal and you could end up arrested and charged.

So some info for tourists who want to come here. ON ARRIVAL VISA COSTS: 40 dollars for citizens who aren't Chinese, Vietnamese or already has a visa. Laos citizens with a second passport also must pay this. You can pay in Lao Kip or USD. If you have Vietnamese dong you can exchange with a money changer there. Visa is good for 30 days. Citizens from certain countries like Pakistan and Nigeria cannot get this visa. Please check if your nationality has visa on arrival BEFORE arriving. TIPS AT THE BORDER: bring visa pictures or else you will have to pay an extra 100,000 Lao kip. Exchanging in local currency is another 100,000 kip (probably an illegal bribe). BORDER HOURS: Border is open from early morning to about 6pm everyday. ATM at the border: YES. There is an ATM there from Phongsavan Bank. Should be able to take international cards but please be prepared BEFORE you arrive. EXCHANGING MONEY: You will find women happy to exchange money for you. They give good rates. Do NOT accept the first rate they offer you. Most are happy to exchange to a rate similar to the official Google rate. PHONE SIM: 70,000 kip from private sellers in the video. Data is good for 3 days, calling and text is good for much longer. To recharge go to any convenience store and get a card for 10,000 kip (3 days). HOTELS: Dansavan has no hotels or hostels. Only guesthouses. Go to the blue restaurant in the middle of town as shown in the video. Very easy to find as the town is small. LOCALS: People in Dansavan are friendly and not likely to scam you. Do not be suspicious of what they tell you. BUS STATION: Across from the Big Buddha. Not hard to find (see next video for more info). BUS SERVICES: TO SEPON VILLAGE: 50,0000 kip, 1 hour TO SAVANNAKHET CITY: 150,000 kip, 6 hours TO VENTIANNE: 350,000 kip 10 hours WARNING: The first day or two your stomach will need to get used to the bacteria and diarhhea. Be careful!
