@@bridget1721 My parents have both passed away, too, so I can relate to that part of her comedy, but I also relate to her comedy about being bipolar. I suffer from depression (not bipolar disorder, which used to be called manic depression), but a lot of her comedy about her mental issues really hits home for me.

So, people have different types of flows (and this can also vary with time), but generally speaking there's the days where you're actively bleeding and need pads/tampons/cups/whatever, and then there's a couple days tacked onto either end of your actual period where you don't really have a *flow*, but you do have red or brown discharge that can stain your clothes. This is called "spotting" and this is the time to use panty liners or light-absorption period underwear, although sometimes it's minimal enough that you can just wipe it away with toilet paper whenever you go to the bathroom and it doesn't end up reaching your underwear at all (although this may also depend on the anatomy of the labia minora, I'm not sure). Spotting can function as early warning signs that a period is coming so you know to keep period products on hand and maybe take precautionary measures when you go to sleep. Over time, your daughter will be able to learn the patterns of her cycle, like "okay, I usually have 2-3 days of spotting before my period, so I shouldn't expect my period to come on the first day I start to spot" or "I never have any spotting before my periods, so if I think it might come in the next few days, then I better start using period products already because I'd rather be safe than sorry". And then the same thing towards the end of the period - some people have the bleeding stop suddenly and completely, others have it get slower and smaller and browner over many days until only spotting is left, and some people can never be sure whether their period is actually over or if it's just taking a break and will have another round of bleeding even though at the moment it already looks like it's just spotting. By the way, the redder the discharge, the more recently the uterine lining has shed it. It gets darker and more brown (or even almost black) the longer it travels from the uterus to the outside, but that's nothing to worry about, it just maybe means that you've been lying down a lot or not moving around as much, and there's no risk of any danger associated with it as far as I know. I often find that if I've been sedentary my flow dries up a bit and gets brown, and then if I feel energetic and run or dance, I suddenly get a whole new bright red wave that I wasn't expecting. So yeah, it's always a good idea to keep period products of varying strength on hand around the time of your period. For example, my actual period is usually only around 4 days, but I often 'deal with it' for 8 or 9.

Oh, and also in my early twenties I started experiencing spotting in the middle of my cycle, around the time of ovulation. It freaked me out at first because I'd never had anything like that before, but after consulting with my ob/gyn and monitoring it for a while, it turned out that my cycle had simply changed, and it became part of the new 'normal' for me. So things like that can happen as well.

no it's cause young people don't go to church anymore . social media has taken over. the churches used to do lawn fetes in july and august but they have all stopped because they need 50 volunteers to do one and most of the congregation has got too old and can't do it.
