He was robbed of the Oscar for Days of Wine & Roses. Unfortunately, he was up against the iconic portrayal of Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird by Gregory Peck.
I could watch this over and over. Superb comic performer. Jack Lemmon is a force like no other ,all comedy performers should aspire to. Long live jack. xxx
I bet Jack Lemmon enjoyed the role of despicable Professor Fate even more than the likable Prince, though, seeing him switch between them from scene to scene makes it so hilarious.
There are some great film classics which I want an experimental remake to be made or remain as what they are. I'm not an anti-remake fan, I only have my own scale and method. This movie THE GREAT RACE is the former case. Let Tom Hiddleston play Prof. Fate (a moustachio type of comedic villain he's long been dreaming to play) and Crown Prince Frederick Hoepnick (with the impressive laughter).
I was 10 when this movie came out. I laughed my ass off at the pie scene, and truly enjoyed the entire film. For my dad, it was one of his favorite comedies. Shame it wasn't a hit, but a good film nonetheless.
He was so astonishing in this role they seriously considered centering a whole movie around him. I’m glad they didn’t…the genius is more appreciated that way.
