Diagnosing the no-start issue with the CRX, and performing a compression test to check the health of the JDM B16A. We still have a misfire problem, but she is moving under her own power again!

Fuel injectors caused my friends b series to fuel cut /bog before gave him my old stock injectors because I moved up to 1000 cc . His car ran great after that 💯🤙🏽 good luck

Sweet, that’s good to know. It’s definitely possible that mine are clogged. Thanks a bunch!

Glad to see that it was a simple fix to get it running. Towards the end of the video you mentioned the plug wasn't screwing in properly and after going back, that looked like it could have been the only plug with anti-seize on it. This kinda worries me because I've had issues with used vehicles before and previous owners not installing plugs properly. Did the compression connection thread in fully? Along with the plugs and wires, I'd suggest swapping the rotor plug and distributor cap as well, just to eliminate variables. I'd also pull the injectors and it might cost you some O rings, but cleaning them out and back flushing them might help a lot as well. With the sludge that came out of that rail, I wouldn't be surprised if the injectors were clogged and causing the cut in the higher RPM

Thank you for your feedback! I’m definitely glad that’s all that was keeping it from starting lol. That is true, the first plug was the only one with anti-seize on it & the compression test connector also did not screw in anymore than the plug so I am worried about the threads in the head for sure. :\ I was also worried about my injectors after seeing what came out of the rail. I’ll for sure be adding all that to my list & checking stuff off one at a time. Thanks again for your help!

It throws code 14. Thats the IACV (idle air control valve). If I'm not mistaken it's on the back of the intake. Maybe air in the coolant or the IACV is clogged up or it is broken. Or maybe you switched the plug from the map sensor (on top of the throttle body) with the plug of the iacv
@BwahhTiffany
@BwahhTiffany 3 года назад
Yesss thank you. I ordered a new gasket for the IACV. I was waiting for it to come in the mail then I was going to try to clean it & see if that did the trick before I replace the whole thing. I am still wondering if I may have gotten the plugs switched around. I’ll get back to work on it this week to see what progress I can make. Just waiting for a few more things to come in the mail. Thank you for the feedback! (=

Vale’s sound pretty loud. You should also do a valve lash soon

I was having the bogging issue myself, while driving turned out that my TPS sensor needed to be recalibrated, (plenty of vids on how to do that) I also cleaned out the idle air control valve but I will advise you to get a new gasket for the IAC, because once you pull it off it won’t re-seal the right way and you’ll have a small vacuum leak so here’s the part #36455-PT3-A01 hopefully this helps good luck from a fellow 4th gen owner

I agree and I would also take a look at the map and tps wiring. Looks kinda hacked together.
@BwahhTiffany
@BwahhTiffany 3 года назад
Ahh yes that’s a good possibility for sure on the TPS. It looked like it had been replaced before but who knows if they calibrated it after they replaced it. & will do on the IACV especially since I have a code for it. Thanks a bunch for the part number & feedback! 👊🏻

The wiring is a mess for sure. I could have sworn one time I wiggled the wires and the idle changed so that will most definitely be getting fixed. Plus I’m tired of looking at it lol.

Check the solder joints on the main relay... they tend to crack... if it hasnt been replaced yet do it. Misfire could be bad 02 sensor too ! How old is the fuel filter ?
@BwahhTiffany
@BwahhTiffany 3 года назад
I did swap the main relay with the one from my other ef that runs good so it should be good but I have noticed that the main relay is known to have issues. True on the O2 sensor. It came with the header so I’m unsure of the condition of it. Good question on the fuel filter. The previous owner had a shop put in an upgraded fuel pump and add the fuel pressure gauge but I’m unsure if they replaced the fuel filter but after all the nasty stuff that came out, I’m definitely going to be replacing it for sure. Thanks so much for your feedback!

In the same time maybe try get new fuel filter ✌️after seen all that brown thing coming out.. 😅 Try to check, calibrate if necessary TPS sensor. And yeah, probably need to check better that spark plug hole. That can be your biggest issue because misfiring.
@BwahhTiffany
@BwahhTiffany 3 года назад
Haha yesss I meant to mention in the video that after seeing all that brown stuff come out, the filter is definitely getting changed. The tps has aftermarket bolts on it so someone definitely replaced it but who knows if they calibrated it so that is on the list for sure. I’m pretty worried about the spark plug hole. I have a feeling the threads are toast but I need to get a better look at it. Thank ya for the suggestions! I’m getting a good list going now. :D

What size is the air intake/inch?

Seems like a fuel pump your pressure keeps dropping you started at 40 psi then dropped to 30 change the pump and the filter in the engine bay

So you pulled the swap from an obd1 del sol. Is the engine Obd1 or is it obd0? I see that you still have the injector resistor box still plugged in. If the Motor and injectors are obd1, then the injector box is not needed. Obd0 injectors are low impedance, somewhere around 3 ohms of resistance, obd1 injectors are 12 ohms. Obd0 needs the resistor box to drop the voltage so it doesn’t fry the injectors and injector drivers in the ecu. So if the injectors are obd1 then the resistor box is dropping the voltage and the injectors aren’t getting the correct amount of voltage they need to operate correctly which would give you that misfire under wot like when your bf was driving. Hopefully this helps lol
@BwahhTiffany
@BwahhTiffany 3 года назад
The Del Sol was obd1 but the car is currently obd0. I appreciate you letting me know that because I had no clue about that lol. Will keep it in mind for future builds! Thanks a bunch!

@@BwahhTiffany no problem! If you find some obd0 low impedance injectors you should be ok, or you can remove the resistor box and run the obd1 injectors.

I had same problem it was tps and rust in tank weak fuel pump got new tank n pump adjust TPS
@BwahhTiffany
@BwahhTiffany 3 года назад
I wouldn’t doubt the tank probably is rusted on mine. It has an upgraded fuel pump that is fairly new. I think the tps is new as well but may not have been calibrated so that’s on the list. I appreciate the feedback!

I cringe every time you guys use an impact to tighten the banjo bolt on the fuel filter. Those are really weak bolts, please be careful.
