Very nice analysis: Despite having grown up with legends of the mothman (mainly from discovery channel paranormal chaser type shows), I didn't know there was a God damn festival. Very cool

Mothman is my favorite cryptid ever! I own so much moth stuff it’s crazy, not only that but ur my favorite RU-vidr. I’m so glad u did a video on it!

The sandhill crane theory sounds somewhat reasonable to me, thought the bird I usually hear as a likely inspiration for the beast is the barn owl or snowy owl. Their body shape, a neckless torso with wings, sounds very similar to an owl, and they have red eye shine as well. I also heard that the year mothman was first spotted that a snowy owl was shot in the area, and the first report does describe it as white. I don't think the size disparity is means too much. These were just brief eyewitness sightings. There's no way to definitively prove how big or fast the thing was, and people are known to exaggerate the size of animals in sightings. All of these were points in a TreytheExplainer vid about mothman I saw years ago that went pretty in depth on the topic. I don't think mothman is real, but that doesn't stop me from liking it and other cryptids.
