Crysis 4 - What Do We Really Want To See? 

I want to hear the "achieved with CryEngine" lady again.

Crytek isn't what it was in 2007 or even in 2013. After Cevat almost ran the company into the ground all the talent has left and their financial backing will probably also not be substantial enough to provide what we all want. Let's hope I'm wrong but the remastered versions of the old games do not bode well for what is to come...

Hoping they bring back the full suit mode selection wheel. By “streamlining” the suit modes, you’re no longer selecting speed as a specific ability for the immediate situation, you’re just a guy who runs kinda fast whenever you want. Same thing with strength, you’d select strength for increased accuracy and melee power at the cost of suit energy, streamlining it just makes you a guy who punches really hard every 8 seconds.

They aren't the same company and they lost their identity after Crysis1. The fact that they launched C1 remastered with so much missing or wrong from the original just shows the attention for detail and institutional knowledge left over there. They started chasing trends. They dropped Crysis Wars which I thought was a very unique cool battlefield like experience and replaced with a barebones COD clone with Nanosuits. They doubled down on aliens and removed the freeroam/freeform approach of the originals. Crysis's magic for me was those first few levels in Crysis 1 that made you feel like the Predator hunting humans. It was never fun with aliens, and reducing its scope and size in 2 and 3 further pushed it into losing its identity. Those games aren't awful and have great moments, but nothing like that feeling from the first few hours of Crysis 1. I'd just do a reboot honestly. Get rid of the aliens, make it a full blown predator simulator. Turn the suit powers up to 11, let you jump across treetops, super jump... Lean into the simulation and physics, make the jungle destruction part of the experience. Rework Crysis Wars or think of something unique that plays better with the Nanosuit. Deliver on visuals. Its a disgrace Full ray traced lighting was done first by Metro series and Fortnite, not Crytek. I love the series, even 2 and 3 despite my critique, but the same people aren't there anymore. Companies are those teams of talent, the games are their vision. Without the same talent, its unlikely anything good will come from Crysis 4 unless the new devs appreciate Crysis.

I agree with Richard. Maybe this would make other Devs stop making PC an after thought. Just make it PC exclusive 1st with the ground breaking features, then make a scaled down version for Consoles.

NVidia should subsidize the game like EGS in return for having a game that incentivizes people to upgrade GPUs.

I still vividly remember seeing Crysis at my friend's place running on an 8800GT, my mind was completely blown. Within a few days I had built my first PC with a 9800GT/Core 2 Duo and my life was never the same.

In addition; make it so that Cell are the good guys and portal technology isn't a gameplay element but part of the story in which you travel to Ceph planet. Ooh also start with an essentially stripped down nanosuit and gradually add features.

I would personally love to see hitman style levels that really take advantage of the Nano-Suit and encourage a lot of experimentation

They need to have Prophet actually go to the ceph homeworld in maybe the last act of game and have him face new types of enemies

I'd love to see something as advanced today as Crysis was in 2007, but I know that isn't going to happen.

I think The Finals does a really good job on the destruction part

add the amazing destruction technology from Crisis 1 the music from Crysis 2 and the path choices from Crysis 3

Writing that isn't ass is all I want. The writing quality in the previous 4 Crysis games were bloody awful looking back.

Ahhhh man, 2007, Crysis 1 & the 1st year I really stepped up my game in the PC world & bought a GT8800, couldn’t quite do the full fat GTX8800. But wow, what a year to have been alive in the PC world. Bioshock came out that year too:).

Yeah i'd be worry having low vram, it will probably demand 16gb vram with RT enabled at high fidelity textures

PC exclusive Crysis 4 with ray tracing out the ass would be the dream.

Crytek is updating Hunt: Showdown to the latest version of CryEngine some time in Q1 2024. Not sure how much of the tech we see in that upgrade will be a glimpse of what Crysis 4 will show but it'll still be interesting. Hunt after all is a PvPvE Multiplayer game so it needs to run well.

Crytek never made the same game twice, even whey then tried to. So I believe Crysis 4 will be its own thing

What I want to see launch with Crysis 4 is a worthy successor to the 8800GT.

That pipe dream is currently being implemented in Star Citizen.

I want it to have the most extremes of settings. Future proof. Current hardware will melt on it. Think 20-30fps on a 4090 at 1440p once the "Unobtanium" settings is selected.

What we want Crytek? CRYSIS 1 style as they said, full suit optimization, sort of open world like 1

I want graphics like "the wall" trailer and the darkness/crysis 1/bf3 Paris. I also want multiplayer that is like mw3.

The target is simple: properly hammer the 4090 at native 1080p bare 60 fps or, below.

I want to be able to play it on both PlayStation 5 and verified for the Steam Deck.

maybe more nifty tech tools usage by the main character? something new other than the armor shifts, visual sensory and strength. open world maybe? rather than traditional ways of going on mapped routes. more weapons. more enemy types. graphically, pretty much every new triple a games these days has it going already. there is nothing left to show. just gameplay aspect improvements maybe.

No console sales also means no costs porting to console! But most importantly: it allows them to go all out on PC without restricting because of console limitations, which increases the chances of creating another Crysis 1 moment. Otherwise what's the point? I just wonder how much of an improvement it can be over Avatar, as that's more ahead of its time than the best of 2007 was before Crysis 1 was released.

Need original Crysis Warhead and Crysis 1 nanosuit abilities, suit shortcuts and game mechanics , they changed all game mechanics,.Also, we were playing in mega maps in multiplayer, was using vehicles , vtols , helicopters etc . Especially the forgetten seri : Crysis Warhead was absolutely amazing. Still g.o.a.t for me.

Crytek unfortunately missed their opportunity with launching a fully pathtraced "visual feast". Cyberpunk and Alan Wake took away those "wow!"s and "Can it run [gamename]".

There isn't anywhere they can go besides Path Tracing.

I just want a Crysis game that is a worthy game of being called Crysis, it'll be a good game to play as well as a technical masterpiece. I would also love for it to do some crazy things with the graphics but actually run on the high-end hardware at the time it launches. Hunt Showdown just showed that modern Crytek games aren't demanding, they're just badly optimized. That game looked good in 2017, but was nothing crazy, but ran like trash when it came out.

Just remake crysis 1 with completely new maps and weapons and enemy behavior, preserve the rest. I’d buy this imaginary product In a heartbeat.

Allow custom controls for PC. Mainstream controls on console, but let them flourish on PC.

I really can't understand DF's love for the original Crysis. It didn't have any actual gameplay - it was just a sandbox tech demo with a B-movie narrative. Crysis 2 was more linear but was better optimised and had a much more engaging narrative - I much preferred it.

If pc devs would be willing to make exclusives to pc like crysis back in the day, more people would get a pc. Exclusives always sell the product and pc doesn't have any that's ever worth the time let alone takes advantage of high end pc only vs basically a cell phone game(LoL)

i would very much like them to hire a top level writer instead of what they have been doing which is in house. they are fantastic at makeing games but not so good as writers. CRYSIS was the game that got me of the consoles and onto the PC and i am never going back until microsoft make it so hard its not worth it they can't even make HDR detectable by defult on windows? you would think that they would put a lot of effort into makeing gameing a priority as that is what most people buy and use them for. but clearly they want to focus on selling you stuff.

I think when Crysis came out, they were so ahead of the competition in terms of graphical features and also offering an open world sandbox with destructible physics. Since then other engines have caught up and even surpassed them by a lot. CryEngine is not the state of the art or cutting edge any more. And they don’t have that kind of budgets these days too. Not to mention they are owned by EA so will have very high monetary expectations. No way will Crysis 4 be a PC first game. EA will simply never allow that seeing how lucrative consoles still are.

To say Crysis 4 should be a PC exclusive in this day and age is such an asshole thing to say. You can’t have Crysis 1-3 on consoles and then piss on the console audience when you decide to continue the series. There is much more room to give what they’re asking for in this generation of consoles than it was back when the 360 was the console. There’s no doubt they’ll make the PC version a sight to behold but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the Series X version the most impressive title of this generation.

The argument of PC exclusive is silly. Crysis 3 ran on ps3(!) and it looked like a ps4 game, easily. The raw power is not the issue, it's technology and work that is being done.

If Crytek wants to become the name it used to be, they have to make it PC exclusive first. Crysis 2 and 3 should never have been console games at all. Crytek can make console games, but it shouldn't be a Crysis game. Crysis 1 was a huge succes because it was PC exclusive with amazing tech. That is what people were excited for. A huge leap for PC gaming. If they are going multi-platform again, they will repeat the same mistake again that made Crytek go bankrupt at 1 point. If the visuals match the recent Avatar game and they implement extreme destructibility, that would be the Crysis everyone is hoping for.

Destruction. Couldnt care less about graphics in this day and age. Why have a game that only works on 4090. Lets have crysis remastered with a new story and longer more in depth gameplay. Dont sacrafice the game for its graphics!

Since they even went as far as to butcher the story when they decided to go multiplatform (killing two of the main characters IN A COMIC) they should just reboot the first installment and go on from there. You know that else annoys me? Even though the writer for Crysis 3 tried to tie in the story of both sequels to the first game they still killed the main characters from the previous game, we barely get some mentions of Tara Strickland and Nathan Gould in some hidden audio logs, I don't remember hearing from Barclay ever again either. Why kill your side characters if you are just going to replace them with similar stereotypes in the next game?

Crysis 2 was a joke. Crysis 3 was mediocre. Crysis Remastered was a mess at launch, and not much better by the Final Patch. No one uses CryTek anymore. Heck, even the back half of Crysis 1 isn't very good. We've been hanging on for 15 years for them to replicate those magic first few levels of Crysis 1 - but it's over guys, let it go.

They should focus on good image fidelity at 60fps on console. High mesh detail, long draw distance, destruction and physics. Use mesh shading, directstorage etc. Raytracing has too many limitations at this point. If they were to make it exclusive to high-end pc it would have a small budget and look like an indie game.

They NEED to focus more on console. PC only Crysis would be very poor in terms of financial success.
