I have both, and quite honestly the Spurgeon study Bible paper is easier to separate and I found that the CSB study Bible has far more content . For reading pleasure , I found that the CSB Spurgeon study Bible was more appealing to the eyes. Just an opinion. God bless you and keep you. Happy Easter.

Airik1111 You’re right that’s him. He had a balanced position and was very humble. He preferred the KJV and the Received Text and that’s why he did his updated revision of the KJV into the NKJV. I know a lot of the background information about the NKJV and he had a reverence for the KJV and Received Text. At the time I remember that Dr Rice from the Sword of the Lord wanted this translation to be done the NKJV before his death in 1980 or 1981, in fact Dr Hyles came to the early meetings with other Sword of the Lord- preacher and pastors as like an advisory board for the NKJV. They also were directly involved- more so with the Rice Reference Bible which has modern KJV Americanized spellings as in the Webster Bible and also the Liberty Annotated KJV Study Bible which became the Nelson KJV Study Bible in 1988 and still is a popular KJV Study Bible in its second edition. That’s some of the backstory. He (Dr Farsted) also had an academic respect for conservative, Biblical scholarship and evidence based Biblical history and research. He also like that the NASB that it was the most literal translation from the critical texts but I believe because of him being friends with some of the conservative, evangelical Baptist Scholars, that the NASB in its 1977 and 1995 updates places the majority of the Received Text readings like John 8 the woman caught in adultery, Acts 8:37,38 the confession of the Ethiopian Eunuch that he believed Jesus is the Son of God before he was baptized (that’s why this verse was in the text of the HCSB and not in the footnotes) and the ending of Mark 16 showing the resurrection of Christ being in the text. That’s why- I believe because of his influence the NKJV has the complete fuller readings in the text including I John 5:7, while showing in the footnotes what the critical texts had with a NU showing the Nestles-United Bible Society Texts and the M showing the Byzantine-Received Texts readings. Also his influence I believe had the NASB placed in the text with brackets, the M (Byzantine-Received Text- the fuller readings showing the majority Text as opposed to the critical (minority) readings- they were in the footnotes). That’s why I believe since after 1995 until now- the NASB and the NKJV- with the KJV have been the most popular and read Bibles amongst all the other versions. For the moderate and less conservative the NIV (more 1984 edition) and the NLT have been most popular for those groups and denominations. The ESV has been now added to the popularity of the conservative Evangelicals with the NASB and NKJV. I believe when they allowed the Gideon’s to produce a Gideon’s ESV based more upon the TR Majority readings to be placed in the ESV but in brackets like the NASB rather then the footnotes- was a good decision. I have recommended to Crossway Publishers to produce a ESV like what the Gideon’s have- so then as a preference, a Christian can choice to have a ESV with the traditional readings placed into the text rather then the footnotes. This will give an ever bigger boost to the ESV. I have heard with the new revision of the NASB 2019 Update Text- because of James Whites recommendations- that the- in Text Received Text traditional reading in brackets, will be placed in the footnotes as well as some other verses including what Jesus said on the cross “It is Finished”, to be placed in the footnotes because he believes and have said publicly that he believes from his new research among with others, that should not be in the text but rather placed in the footnotes. I completely disagree with his assessment. I wished Charles Stanley would have been the general editor of this new NASB update for 2019. Dr Stanley loves the NASB and has been a big promoter of it. He would have been the better choice I believe. I like Pastor Charles Stanley and trust his scholarship and leadership way better. Also from what I understand- that’s why Dr Stanley promotes the NKJV and the NASB in the past because of the fuller in Text Received readings and as well as having “only begotten” in John 3:16 in the KJV, NKJV and NASB. Also one of the translators on the John Anchorberg show in the 90’s said that John 8 where the woman was caught in adultery was his most favorite story in the Bible. I think it was John Kolherburg III or one of the others. I agree with your assessment about Arther Farsted- he was a great scholar and provided a lot of historical research in his books and also wonderful Biblical knowledge from his Textual studies and translation work and influence with other translations in keeping them on the straight and narrow- more conservative and Biblical. He had such a humble and meek personality. We should all strive for that- being more like Christ, our wonderful Saviour! Last note that Arther Farsted was the first contracted and main translator and consulting editor for Holman as Holman wanted to provide their “optimum equivalent” method of translation having more of a formal “literal” method as possible but where indicated a dynamic translation only if the literal directly can’t provide the clear meaning in the given English language as proper syntax and grammar has to be given into account. He was chosen because of his well respected Conservative and Biblical history of academic scholarship. They wanted his experience and expertise when working on the HCSB the years before 2000- 1997, 1998, 1999. I know the term in I Timothy 3 about- pastoral qualifications and duties, the term “God’s church” as opposed to the traditional “church of God” was as far as I understand- Dr Farsted had that translated that way- to show a non biased to any denomination as the Church of God. The ESV about the same time in 2001 had used the same term, as sometimes translators consult each other, if the publishers doesn’t place a complete lock down on consults from translators and bouncing off questions or ideas from other translators or pastors other than from your own committee. Here’s a little backstory and the contribution of a great Biblical scholars- like Dr Arther Farsted. Lord bless.

Travis Wake Study Bibles can be great and many of them offer up some neat features but I find that I rarely read the study notes. I do have the Reformation Study Bible but haven’t used it enough to do a review on it yet but I will at some point. One of my favorites is the Thompson Chain Reference Bible cause it lets Scripture interpret Scripture which is excellent. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it!

I do like the She Reads Truth Bible but if I had to pick just one I’d have to go with this Study Bible. With all the full color and all of the content in it it’s very engaging. I find it easier on the eyes to read as well. They’re both great Bibles but this one has a lot more information in it and will keep you engaged and interested in it. It’s hard to put down once you pick it up.

They make very nice Bibles and they’re usually on the more affordable side as well but they are well made. I like their Bibles a lot.

The CSB is a great translation and the more I read it the more I like it. I really like photos and illustrations etc in a study Bible because it’s very engaging and can help you to remember and memorize things because you can associate it with an image. The Faithlife Illustrated Study Bible by Zondervan has some very unique illustrations in it and gives great size comparisons for things like the Noah’s Ark, the temple and other things next to modern day things like a football field or the Empire State Building so that is really neat. If you haven’t seen my video on it it’s worth looking at because it has some neat stuff in it. They make it in the NIV and the NKJV. Here’s a link to it if you want to watch it. Steve Tucker the CSB is a great translation! I also really enjoy the NKJV, NASB and the ESV. The more I read the CSB the more I like it and Holman has done a great job with all the different Bibles they’ve come out with in this translation.

They will be completely different due to being different publishers and different contributors but for me I find this one to be more engaging cause it has a lot more full color and I’ve really grown to love that about Study Bibles. The Baker Illustrated didn’t have anywhere near as many full color photos and illustrations as I’d hoped it would have but it’s a neat Bible and has awesome paper. If you have a Christian book store in your area I’d see if you can look at them side by side and see which one appeals to you more. I like both but I gravitate more towards this one. I was hoping the Baker one would have more content similar to the NLT Illustrated Study Bible. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

I haven’t read too many of the notes but none of the ones I have read have had any bias one way or another. I have enjoyed this Bible any time I’ve used it.

Lol 😂 your comment made me laugh. I have also wondered how many people in China have been saved by being exposed to the scriptures while working on producing these Bibles and I wish more people would see it that way instead of being upset over it because it is possibly the only opportunity they will have to be exposed to the Bible and having one person be exposed to it and be saved can have a snowball effect and end up getting even more people saved when they start sharing the Gospel with each other and that is how people need to look at it so thank you for acknowledging that...& yes there are way too many nice Bibles out there and publishers just keep producing them so it is nice to have such a great variety to choose from but at the same I would love to see more efforts put into getting the Bible translated into languages that do not have a Bible yet, that would be fantastic to see. And you’re so correct about there’s something that will offend everyone and it’s so silly to have that even be an issue. When I gift a study Bible I always tell the person that the notes are not infallible and if they see something that they don’t agree with to not toss out the entire thing over it and sometimes something you don’t agree with can actually strengthen what you do agree with and/or can cause someone to do more studying and research so there’s always different ways to look at things and I am always just happy to see someone reading the Bible!... thank you for watching and commenting. Yes I have a video on the regular one, the cowhide edition, the large print, the personal size and the heirloom edition. It’s a great study Bible.

Melanie Wills it doesn’t seem bad at all when I am using this Bible. I do wish Publishers would be more cautious about that though. It’s like they’re more worried about giving you some margin space for notes but I’d rather have no margin than stuff falling into the gutter. On my Sword Study Bible Review you can really see how their marginal Study References are very much in the gutter but I haven’t had any issues with this CSB one, and I think it would lay even flatter if I took a little time to break it in. Everyone I know that has purchased one of these loves it. They just came out with a large print one but I haven’t seen a review of it to see if the text is any further away from the gutter or not.

Troy Holm I haven’t seen a new one yet but they did just finish with doing some updates. I haven’t looked into them but I’m sure I’ll probably get an updated CSB at some point this year. I honestly do not know if they did any updates. I haven’t compared them. I just recently got the new handcrafted collection study Bible but I haven’t opened it yet so I’m unsure which version of the text it is.

All the ones I give are like new because many times it is one I used for a week or so when prepping for a review and then I get it to someone who needs one and they always think it is brand new which is good because I like to give them a pristine one that they can make their own. christopher davis yes as soon as I get a chance I’ll pull it out and test a highlighter in the back of the Bible...yeah the Hendrickson Hallmark is a pricey Bible! A bit high in my opinion. I love CBP Bibles and their new water buffalo leather looks absolutely amazing! Their turquoise edition is one of my favorite Bibles so the turquoise in the brown water buffalo would be awesome, I don’t think I’ve seen a nicer looking Bible than that one, they did a fantastic job on them, I haven’t seen one in person yet but I know I’d love it. CBP Bibles are so nice.

I do prefer this one, mainly because it has more full color which I really like in a study Bible. I do really like the Baker but I had hoped it would have more Illustrated content like the NLT Illustrated Study Bible has. The Baker does have great paper quality but I do tend to gravitate more towards this one.

They are both excellent Bibles but if I had to choose one I would go with the which translation I prefer the most because you will tend to read the one in the translation you like the most. Both have lots of full color content and lots of great information. They also just came out with a newly revised NIV Study Bible too. I don’t have it yet but I should be getting one soon. You may want to look at it next to the Biblical Theology one and see which one out of those two you like the most and then decide on one of those vs this CSB. I hope that helps. I do. I have used the large print edition more since getting that one since it’s easier on my eyes. It’s a great study Bible. All of the full color editions done by Holman are very nice. Jodie M yes I still have this one and use it and the more I use the CSB translation the more I like it. It’s a great Bible.

this one will be much more durable since it is actual leather and not an imitation leather. It is not as nice as most goatskin covers like what you see on the Crossway editions or the Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Premier Collection Editions but it is nice, it is better than your average genuine leather cover and better than an imitation leather one. The new leathersoft editions are much nicer than the older ones, the new ones look and feel much better and they are very durable too, I have never worn one out.

I like the translation in Revelation 5:6 where it describes the lamb as slaughtered instead of slain.

so much of what we use on a daily basis is made in China and I just hope that the people who work on these Bibles are exposed to the Gospel and will be saved as a result of them being produced there. What are the chances?!! 😯 Look for Andrew C. Bowling, 1st one listed in the study contributors. What an honor! Wish I'd known this, I would've taken my CSB to get his autograph! We talked several hours. This one is the CSB (Christian Standard Bible). It’s a great translation.

That is the retail price and you can find it for much less online. Christianbook is an excellent resource and usually has the best prices on Bibles. Plus they have excellent customer service as well. Thank you for watching and commenting
