The U.S. government is 34 trillion dollars in debt and can hardly pay the interest on that debt. We see the BRICS group gaining backing from the countries that have been chained to the IMF and World Bank and want to break those chains. The Cuban people are incredible that they have stood-up to that severe blockade for over 60 years. The U.S. is in a decline that they cannot recover from. Go BRICS!!!

Your "theories" are incorrect. There is no blockade of Cuba. The US GDP is the highest of any country in the entire world and has been the highest since WW2 and it's growing. BRIC's is insignificant. Whether other countries use the US dollar or not doesn't affect the US economy one bit. It only causes problems for tourists who have to learn the exchange rate and change their money to the local currency.

As if the USA are treating Cuba as a cancer in their ‘own’ territorial body - anything to please the far right politicians & people in Miami / the United(?) States. I am a retired UK citizen & for many years have really admired the resilience of the Cuban people. The embargo on Cuba is complete unwarranted & not necessary. Following the then fall of Communism in Europe in 1989, America & the west should have welcomed Cuba as a full trading partner, but unfortunately that opportunity was lost, a huge mistake. I shall watch this full video this evening my time.

As promised I have watched this most engaging video with factual details. Thankyou indeed to both of you. Now will the American government ever do anything to reverse their negative policies or just carry on with no changes to their tunnel vision? Most of the Latin American world awaits!

Cuba has two blockades one from internal blockage from the Cuban government against the Cuban people and the another one is the American government against Cuba.

There are 1.3 million Cubans living in the US. We don't treat them as a cancer. We have an embargo on Cuba because when Fidel Castro took power he seized over $1 billion worth of US companies assets and the leaders of Cuba since Fidel have continued to keep those assets so the embargo goes on.

Liz: I must commend you for the quality improvement in these stories. I was critical of your first work as it appeared to be more sensational for the sake of attention than any desire to improve US-Cuba relations. Now you have progressed to be a positive factor. No doubt having LeoGrande as a guest was superb. Keep up the good work.

The US refuses to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism because of the atrocities it has committed in Ukraine, but Cuba? The US policy on Cuba hurts Americans-the only place they cannot freely travel. And hurts businesses who can't sell goods to Cuba, hurts US farmers who cannot sell food to Cuba, hurts EV makers who cannot buy nickel from Cuba (which has major nickel reserves), etc. If we were to normalize relations with Cuba, the flood of American tourists and businesses going into Cuba would completely transform the political situation in Cuba for the better, and would hugely improve the lives of Cuban people.

One of the nickel mines used to belong to a US company. When Fidel Castro took power he seized that mine and other US companies assets valued at over $1 billion. That's why there is an embargo.

@@twelvestitches984 Castro overthrew the corrupt dictatorship of Fulgensio Batista, a one-time sergeant who came to power in a military coup supported by the US government. He handed out Cuban resources like candy to big US corporations, in exchange for huge kickbacks, and the same for the American mafia with their highly profitable "entertainment" operations. Exploitation for the benefit of rich Americans. No angels getting screwed here.

It is in the interests of working class people in the U.S and elsewhere to demand: "End the U.S embargo, in effect an illegal economic blockade, now; take Cuba off the spurious State Sponsor of Terrorism list; end illegal "regime change" /subversion programs; end all travel restrictions." Thank you, Liz Hernandez for your work. Thank you, Cuban Americans, who are part of/ supportive of the work of Puentes de Amor (Bridges of Love) and ACERE - Alliance for Community Engagement and Respect.

Is there a reason for not having free elections in Cuba with real opposition so the people in Cuba can decide what kind of government they want?

Nena, first let me agree with you: the blockade/embargo/whatever never hurt Fidel-Raul-Ramiro and Co. They have lived the great life. Second, a question, if you declare war against your neighbor with phrases like "No podemos esperar a ver pasar el cadaver del imperialism" (We can't wait to watch the corpse of imperialism pass by), then why do you need trade and investment from that neighbor which you have targeted for destruction ?
@jamannetje
@jamannetje 4 месяца назад
You reduction of the sanctions to trade and investment from the US is extremely limited and misleading.
@ZoSo2593

so you support the damage the blockade has done to the cuban people, all in order to make them suffer so much as to overthrow their own govt. and the thousands of terrorist acts against the cuban people. what a disgusting, ignorant you are.

@@jamannetje 1-You can add more. Won't change the fact that if I want to see my neighbor dead, I can't complain when he doesn't want to give away avocadoes from the tree he has in his yard. 2-I oppose the embargo/blockade/whatever because it hasn't affected the elite, but the people. 3-I also oppose US govt Embassy in Havana meddling in politics of Cuba AS MUCH AS I oppose Cuban govt/Embassy in Washington doing espionage and much more. 4-It is astonishing how the leftist parties of many Latin American countries support the Cuban govt. Yes, democracy in those Latin American countries is FAR FROM PERFECT. Still, if they were in Cuba, those leftist political parties wouldn't have had the slightest chance to reach power, because the Cuban govt DOES NOT EVEN TOLERATE any leftist political alternative.

@cuquita4112 I support ALL your statements, even if my vision of socialism is that of a social-democrat, which, chances are is not yours. AND YET all you can do in response to me stating THE FULL TRUTH (not just the part that is convenient to you) is to claim I am "manipulative".

@cuquita4112 Is there any chance to visit Cayo Piedra, such a bulwark of "anti-imperialism" off the southern coast of Cuba? You should make it a tourist resort, so that visitors from all over the World understand the "sacrifices" the anti-yankee communist leader of the proletariat was making while catching lobsters and drinking whiskey.

@@BrayanCCG do you live in Cuba? Did you ever live in Cuba? Actual Cuban people that are actually living in Cuba are on average far more supportive of their system than you are. Furthermore, I stated a fact. You cannot cite your nationality as proof that a country doesn't hold referendums. I could tell you that South Africa has referendums, but you can easily verify that this is not the case with a bit of research. Yet I am South African, and I can make that false claim about South Africa. So I'm sorry, but I can tell an anonymous person, who claims to be Cuban, how Cuba works, if I actually bothered to research it more than the anonymous person. If you don't like that, then do your own research so you can actually engage in fruitful discussion on a topic.

I lived in Cuba most of my life, my family lives in Cuba, my grandma is still there and we have to send the medicine and money so that she doesn't starve to death, and don't come to me with your bullshit blaming the USA, when the communist party are just a bunch of fat stupids that live from the effort of us CUBANS, the ones who have to go through the ocean in order to live a normal life, the referendum that you are taking about is bullshit they do whatever they want, if people in cuba support the government so much, PLEASE, explain to me why they don't let THEIR OWN PEOPLE create a political party, you know where a referendum also took please? Venezuela and after that they had to eat from the trash, in 2020 cuban peso was 24 to 1 with the dollar, today it is 350 to 1!!!! You guys are such a joke!@hewhomustnotbenamed5912
