My favorite pizzas come from little mom and pop shops. You can't get big brand pizza that even come close to a hand crafted masterpiece from a local pizzeria.
I agree with the other comments that smaller chains have better pizza. All those big pizza chains have went downhill over the years. My first job was at a pizza place so I know that if you put too much sauce or cheese on a pizza before cooking the dough will not cook right and it will be doughy and soggy.
@@fridaylong2812 Yes Dominos was worse than Pizza hut back in the day but when they changed their formula and prices they began to rule and still rule to this day.
The biggest issue is that they were all only pepperoni. Don't get me wrong, I like a good pepperoni pizza, but there are so many others to try: Meat lovers, supreme/combo (meat and veggies), Hawaiian (ham and pineapple), and so on. Most of these looked like they cooled down as well. Nothing beats a nice, hot pizza. Not burn your mouth hot, but still gooey. Plus, extra toppings such as parm cheese, pepper flakes, tabasco sauce, garlic powder, etc. simply enhances a pizza even more. And let's talk about crusts: thick crust, thin crust, pan pizza, cheese crust, hand-tossed style . . . I really do love pizza! 🥰
I think maybe they started with pepperoni pizzas for this taste test because they needed a basic flavor first. Then, later they can try all the different toppings etc.
Yeah, I think they were actually trying to rate the difference between the BRANDS and how well they make the SAME pizza. Next they should pick a good pizza brand and try a bunch of different TYPES of pizza from that same brand... Like pepperoni, Hawaiian, 3-/5-meat, veggie, ultimate, Taco Pizza, pepperoni/sausage/mushroom/olive, etc. See which specific type of pizza (combination of ingredients) is best... Just liked they tried different pies, they could try different pizza pies. ;) They could also try like crazy bread, stuffed crazy bread, cheesy bread, garlic breadsticks, etc. See which side dish bread t hey like best...
Pizza Hut has the greasiest pizza known to man, probably why all four locations here went out of business and one place wasn't even a restaurant it was just a delivery only. Mom Pop pizza place here is the best, hands down over all the franchises!
The biggest issue here is that they were all chain restaurants. That's not real pizza, you gotta go to the mom and pop shops in NY/NJ or chicago spots for that real deep dish. These corporate chains all use crap frozen ingredients and it's all processed. Real pizza is night and day.
Southern as in collard greens, baked mac and cheese, yams, fried chicken, cornbread, short ribs, cabbage, sweet potato pie…the works!! I would recommend Roscoes Chicken and Waffles for you guys as a first time as well.
You are both a joy to watch - when it comes to pizza, it is very much an individual choice - - - plus location in the U.S is a definite factor. Here in central New Jersey we are blessed with individual "pizzerias" that are privately (usually family) owned. There are still the pizza "chains" that you were trying however, the "pizzerias" are in a class by itself with a potentially really diverse menu. You can have a try between NYC vs Chicago pizza however, to me Central and North Jersey are in a class by itself! - but that's just me! Enjoy your journey of taste testing and experiencing new things in the U.S. Praying for peace in the world and that Cuba rises to the new heights and opportunities her people deserve.
I'm in Central Jersey as well. Lived in North Jersey most of my life. Local pizza places are so much better than places like Domino's, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar's, etc. That stuff is garbage compared to the pizza you can get here.
No matter what the video is, Yoel always makes it real. I always end up being emotional knowing what he has been denied in his life. His take on our country keeps it real for me.
I am so Proud of you two, sponsors and the editing you are doing on your vids. Now that is a lesson on America and Freedom :-) All from scratch, thank you for spreading happiness.
You should go to an all you can eat pizza buffet for variety... His head would explode! I love you guys, and bless you for bringing the Cuban story to your viewers.
CiCis , Mr. Gatti's , or Chuck E Cheese ? Those places are mostly for children and their parents . Pizza Inn is similar , but their adult consumers without children can find a decent pizza there in a dark corner .
Mari has a good palate to tell difference with the cheese to sauce ratio. Unfortunately you guys reviewed corporate chain pizza. Find a mom and pop pizzeria in your local area, you guys will notice the difference in quality.
Papa John’s is probably my favorite. I know a lot of people dislike it but I think it really depends on what store you order it from. Mine always gets my order right! I like extra sauce, peppers and the spicy garlic butter dipping sauce 😋
Growing up Round Table was a staple in my house as it was one of the best chains in my neighborhood, along with BJ's and Numero Uno. However, there are so many Italians that have immigrated to so many parts of the country, finding good pizza is usually just tracking down the local mom and pop.
Pizza is something my partner and l occasionally enjoy. We tend to gravitate toward pizza without meat or dairy cheese however if you like those toppings that's about personal choice. In the US there are far fewer restrictions than Europe and other parts of the world about what additives or preservative are in the food there. If l went to the US, 'THAT' is something l definitely would have concerns about. Enjoyed you guys enjoying something else. Have a great day guys.
I know people generally hate ads, but i love that hello fresh is a sponsor now! I can't believe more companies aren't willing to be a sponsor for you guys due to the politics. Yoel's is starting his American dream, if i owned a company, I'd be lining up to support you guys! So fun to try one of our favorite american foods! Time to diet for about a week after this video 😂
Yeah I never thought about how Hello Fresh and such sub box services actually cut down on food waste. They still ship in HORRIBLE non-recyclable coolant containers that includes chemical waste and such BUT hey it's give and take? I don't know. Anyway I never thought about it that way ^.^
Where I live we have three pizza places, domino’s, papa John and Pizza Hut. Many years ago we had the pleasure of having an Italian family they came from Chicago and they opened up their restaurant here and it was so good spaghetti, garlic bread, pizza, and other dishes and the wife was Hispanic and she added a spicy touch to some of the pizza dishes ummm good
I look forward to each of your new adventures! This was awesome. Love to you both and thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Whoever doing your editing is great at it! Time for Joel to go to a restaurant for Mexican food! Joel’s English is getting so GOOD! Keep it up, amigo.
Americans have many famous, good Pizza chains that vary by state or region, however, depending on where you grew up, locally, usually Italian family-owned businesses hold a special place in my heart.
Please take him to Chicago for authentic deep dish pizza. Or maybe there an Uno's close to you. Not nearly the same but definitely better than these. Or maybe a local New York style pizza place. Oh and chicken wings need to be on the list too please!!!! But Pizza Hut has to be deep dish for me... 💖
As a scientist, I was hoping you had a control pizza from an Italian restaurant (off camera is fine) then proceeded to try the franchise pizzas. Still, you both are doing a fantastic job and I’ve enjoyed every minute!
To be fair, they were trying _American_ pizza, not traditional Italian pizza. As well, they were trying famous brands that the majority of viewers would be familiar with. For local non-chain pizza, they would need recommendations first.
Congrats on the sponsorship! That's so good for you both and your channel! I love your new approach with your editing, very fun! Its great seeing this channel grow so much since I first began watching months and months ago. I love it!
I had Dominoes and Pizza Hut a lot back in college. I preferred Pizza Hut for the buttery crust. Being near NYC now though, there is nothing that compares to a small local pizza shop especially if you can actually make it into the city. (Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza comes close.)
Being a Chicago transplant I still favor the Chicago Deep Dish. I grew up thinking the deep dish is a meal, the thin crust is a snack. Both good as long as they stick to the normal Italian ingredients .
I can only recommend that you explore the possibilities of getting a pizza from New Jersey, specifically from Jersey City. Better than NYC collectively. Razza Pizza being the Best. But In NYC definitely go to Brooklyn for Pizza and of course bagels
Hungry Howies? Never heard of it Did you use the garlic butter from papa johns on the pizza bones ? ( crust ) I dip the pizza bones in the butter....muy delicious
🍕 🍕 🍕 I love Papa John's garlic butter is the bomb!! However, price wise, Little Caesar's is the only way we go. We get 2 bacon and pepperoni pizzas and their Italian cheesy bread for under $20. And the bacon they use is SO good 😋 😋 😋 😋
I'm only halfway through the video but, only pepperoni?? You should try one all the way with several meats, green peppers, onions, etc... So much better!
Homemade from scratch is tough, even with a pizza stone or steel. It's ok, but let's not pretend it is on par with even medium tier wood fired restaurant pizza.
@@fshn4x4 Actually, homemade pizza is real easy. I use a 15 minute dough recipe. The dough is very forgiving. Find a good jarred sauce and toppings and bingo, pizza in about the same time as delivery. Cooking on parchment paper makes cleanup a breeze.
Technically, if the ingredients don't start frozen can it really be called "fast food"? I currently work for dominos and NONE of their ingredients are frozen, and they hand stretch their own dough. Yes, it's fresh made and their ovens are fast, so it is fast service, but it's not frozen or greasy "fast food".
Here's an idea for a video. Try different brands of Ice Cream. I would go for the popular flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Mint-Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, Butter Pecan, Strawberry, & Rocky Road (Just to name a few flavors). 😊
You have to get a pan pizza when you go to Pizza Hut(preferably with white/parmesan sauce instead of tomato sauce), their regular crust has basically turned into thin crust
I visited Havana January of 2018 and me and my bestfriend had a day where we didnt want to go out and decided to order pizza to our airbnb. We got the pizza and were…….. pretty stunned. It was exactly as they showed you in this video. After that day my friend and I knew to just eat local cuisine.🥴
If you ever get to St. Louis, you MUST try IMOs. They are super thin, use full bacon strips and use provel cheese which is creamy and rich. It's so good. Pepperoni, bacon and jalapeno.
take it from the daughter of a NY pizza man...pizza can only be judged when it is fresh out of the oven. none of these samples even come close to a fresh and hot slice of NY style pizza.
gotta try a traditional Sunday dinner, roast beef (preferably prime rib medium) mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed green beans (finish in pot on stove with butter and garlic), and some Yorkshire pudding.
Lol…never had any of that as “traditional Sunday dinner”..My family is Italian, every Sunday we have macaroni (pasta) with meat/bread/salad ..then coffee and cake, never even tried Yorkshire pudding-i don’t think I ever even saw it.
@@trashpanda2312 Well, Trash, considering that their videos are focused on food they want to try in the USA, rather than the UK, Yorkshire pudding is not well known here. Why are you offended?
they are in Arizona, when I lived there (although in Scottsdale) there was a place called 3 tomatoes that made the best Pizza around. I think there may have been a few of them in the Phoenix area, not sure though.
Idk if Yoel drinks beer but if he does it would be fun to see him try various types of American beer, not just brands but styles too, lager, IPA, stout, porter, etc
In order to become a real American, Yoel needs to sprinkle crushed red pepper and parmesan cheese on his pizza slices. These seasonings will definitely improve the taste of any pie.
I didn't realize that Papa John's was still around. They closed 10 restaurants in Massachusetts & New Hampshire in the last year. I thought that they went bankrupt. Good to see that it's thriving elsewhere. The pizza was pretty good for a commercial pizza chain.
Six choices for pizza within a mile of my house, but the last time I picked up one from my favorite of the bunch it was V-E-R-Y disappointing. So disappointing, in fact, that I haven't been able to convince myself to order from ANYBODY since then. When the pizza craving hits, I make sure I have the "fixings" on hand, then go to the nearby market that bakes fresh pitas on site. Those fresh, soft pitas make a most excellent stand-in for a pizza crust. It only takes a few minutes to assemble an individual pie and microwave it until the cheese melts. A top sprinkle of Parmesan or Romano, and it's time for dinner!
Hola...lovin the channel, There is a "Pizza Nova" in Guardalavaca Cuba, it is a Canadian franchise chain... BTW I am canadian , and have spent alot of time in Cuba, resorts and Cuban homes.
To me, it's all about the cheese. I like pizza more with a little sauce, but the cheese.... for me, that's the key... the more the better! And I tend to like the small restaurants over the national chains. It's like they put more love into it.
You tried the big national chain store pizzas ,which are all pretty bad . You need to come to NYC and try some of the individually owned pizzarias here
Cooked pizza is great hiking and camping food. It has the carbs for energy and the protein for muscle repair. It's dense and cheap. Vacuum seal large pieces and you're good to go.
I have had pizza from Maine to Florida and Arizona, Canada, Chicago to Minnesota....there are 2 that are excellent ...1 in Franklin N.J and I in Binghamton N.y...Cortese.....and the closest to these is a 6 at most and Papa Johns...my dog wouldn't even eat...
My wife and I have the same problem. We both dont like the same pizza place so we argue were to order from. No one I know orders domino's. However I have not ordered form there for a very long time.
