Fun fact: In Cuba, there is a ration book the government gives each citizen for their food rations (you can buy more food in the markets without the ration book) but there used to be FISH in there... slowly but surely they have reduced all the food rations and fish is no longer given. Cubans make a joke saying "pollo por pescado" (chicken for fish) as a way to complain about things you cant get. Please LIKE and SHARE! We cant grow to show more people our message without that. It helps the algorithm.

Can you buy stuff on the black market? If so, how expensive and how harsh are the penalties?
@maxwood1819

Lobster is expensive for us but at least if we want it we can get it. The biscuits are addictive Walmart has the mix they have lobster too if you want to make it at home . Squeeze a little lemon in the butter or on the lobster . Next try king crab legs . Or a have a boil of different seafood. Crab, shrimp, crawdads, mussels. Lobster can go in this too. Recipes for this are on RU-vid.

Can you please take him to have ceviche? Or just make it at home. Dice onion, jalapeno, tomato, add cooked (cold) diced shrimp, cilantro if you like it, lime juice and salt to your taste. Put on tostadas and if you want to put on sliced avocados it is more amazing. Some.hot sauce (Tapatio,Valentina or Chalula are my favorites). Please!!!!$!!$

You both are ignorant. The problems Cuba have are thanks to the embargo the US has on the country. It limits the products that get to Cuba thus making shrimp and lobster very rare. Thus creating the problem of over fishing among the people which then left the government no choice but to set in place regulations for certain fishing choices.

So great to see this; and I’m so glad that Yoel enjoyed it. As far as lobsters are concerned, I’m a little spoiled, being from New England where there’s a live lobster tank in nearly every grocery store. One year (not too long ago), the lobster population was so good that you could get one at the store for about $6.00. The restaurant only gave Yoel a shell cracker, but I’ve found that kitchen shears are a lot more effective. You can cut down the length of the tail, and pull the whole tail meat out in one piece. Also, don’t forget about the little “feathers” at the end of the tail; there’s some nice meat in there as well. I think my favorite part is the “elbows” behind the claws. I love to make lobster rolls in the summer; I make them such that every sandwich has a whole lobster worth of meat in it, and I leave the claws in one piece to put on top to make it look pretty.

I agree 100% with Eleanor Robert's. I lived in Vegas at one time. It is way too overwhelming for Yoel at the moment. I remember his cosco and home depot trips. Best to ease into that experience. It's wonderful to see Yoel love a REAL New England lobster, big claws and all. The price of lobster in New England is rarely expensive because it's caught locally. . Watching these videos really makes me take a step back and realize how good I've had it all my life. It makes my heart hurt for the people of Cuba. Also the people in Ukraine right now. Being an American, I can't even begin to imagine how terrible it is to be fighting an occupying force in your home country. But seeing people like yoel who's spreading awareness about Cuba and civilians in Ukraine literally fighting for their homeland I think has made me a more caring and informed person so I thank you for that.

I am binging on your videos. You two are such a cute couple, even going back to the way you met. My wife is of Spanish, Cuban and Mexican descent, so I can pick up some of the Spanish when Yoel slows down, ha ha. I have also spent time in Asia and Africa, and unlike too many of my countrymen, I realize just how lucky we are to be living here, even with our own (mostly self-made) problems. I love seeing the joy and emotions on your faces as Yoel experiences things not possible in Cuba, but also how Mari shares in it. If I was still in San Diego I would have loved to drive you to San Diego to eat at my favorite seafood restaurant. (I used to work on a project in Yuma, so not that far away.) God bless you both. I lived in Miami shortly after the revolution, so there were a lot of Cubans who fled Castro. I pray, as you both do, that one day Come ba will be free from the scourge of Communism and the talents of the Cuban people can be allowed to flourish once more.

Lobster really is delicious, as is a lot of seafood. When it comes to crab legs, go big or go home. Alaskan king crab legs are what you should have. Smaller crab legs are tasty, but the effort to reward ratio is not there. King crab is much easier to eat, and there is more to eat!

Great video. I remember my first experience with lobster as well but it wasn't as good as Yoel's. The bread you ate was a bisquit. Pronounced BIS-kit. They can be a vehicle for many things. Honey or jelly or jam with butter, they can be made as cinnamon rolls, and a very popular dish called bisquits and gravy. Have you tried Cinnabon brand cinnamon rolls? Have to eat those warm. Mall food courts usually have this. Or an Italian beef sandwich? It's a generous portion of thinly sliced seasoned beef in a six inch hard roll. Make sure you get a cup of the beef juice to the dip the sandwich into if they haven't already doused a ladlefull all over it. Choice of toppings are melted mozzarella, cooked sweet green peppers, or Italian pickled vegetables. Can be messy but Sooo good! Keep the vids coming!

Based on what I’ve learned, it’s illegal because the fishing industry especially lobster and other pricey seafood, is one of the few ways the government has to get fast cash into the economy. Therefore the communist government doesn’t want it to “go to waste” on its people when they can sell at market for a premium.

However, every developed nation EXCEPT the US has universal health care and basic welfare, meaning your poor and underemployed won't be financially and emotionally ruined if they have a health emergency.
