They have to HR and have to walk. That's the key. They have to hit HRs. They don't have high average guys...they just have to hit more HRs and get their base on balls or they don't score enough.

Dumb, dude hit 10 HRs in a month. His BABIP is .060....that's just horrible luck. He should be hitting like .230 with a 600 slug%

He had a welcome to NY adjustment year. He's hit 10 HRs this month....he's hitting way over 15 for the year....probably about 25 HRs.

His 14 hits in 96 at-bats is mind-boggling. He is over the hill. The next injury will keep him out longer, as his hair turns more gray. He gets booed at the games just like Hicks did & that will continue to take a toll on him mentally. Like Hicks, playing on a different team may be good for him and the Yankees.

@@waynelynch3862 He hit 10 HRs in a month worth of at bats. He's the only guy hitting HRs consistently. No one hits .060 on batted balls over 4 months its basically impossible. His numbers will be fine by years end.

No we don't not until after next season. Pretty sure he has like a club option for next season that will only cost 7.5mil. Yea I get that he's worth more than that but it's a business and only makes sense to pick up the option have him on the cheap and allow them to spend more money elsewhere in FA for a 3B and maybe a catcher who can hit if ones available and another OF. He has a injury history so have him prove he can stay mostly healthy next year before deciding to give him a big contract when one isn't needed yet with the option.

But just to combat your point, Nelson Cruz 5 years ago had 168 OPS+ at 38 YO, and there have been plenty of 38 YOs that were MVP level hitters, which Donaldson was just 2 years ago, that have fallen off a lot less drastically than Donaldson. There's not really much excuse in him not at least be an avg hitter in the league

He's had terrible batted ball luck, that's why. .060 BABIP....no way it stays that low going foward. He'll hit 230 and hopefully HRs and walks a lot the rest of the way.
