Exactly! It was wild for me to find out that the fall of the Berlin Wall and the release of Pump up the Jam happened in the same year. And you know what? Its one hell of a song to usher in the end of the Cold War
Yes she's pronouncing every word how it's spelled. Down south it would be 'pamp ap the jaym'. When will you lot learn that Lancashire pronunciations are the most correct?
It's so inspiring for me to know that no matter what happens in my life, no matter what successes I achieve, no matter what mistakes I make, it will all eventually come back to the release of the 1989 Belgian techno anthem, Pump Up the Jam.
"If you isolate the individual drumbeats from this song and areange them in a circle, it unlocks a cheat mode that allows you to pass through solid surfaces at will" THAT GOT ME GOOD
Same, this bit always caught me off guard in all the first four episodes, but when i got to the last one and heard her mention the Berlin Wall and 1989, i knew it was far too late.
I am from canada and can support this statement. Much as our national aminal is the beaver, and our catholic sundays consist of crying excessively to tragically hip
My favorite joke in the entire series, or at least the one that made me laugh the hardest, is “When the video released, viewers were terrified that it was real, and that the jam would be pumped directly into their homes”
My literal earliest memory on this earth is sitting in a dimly lit McDonald's parking, waiting for my brother to come back from using the bathroom while this song played over the car radio. I'm glad somebody else recognizes its massive weight in the zeitgeist.
Mine is hanging out in my older cousin’s room eating a slice of birthday cake while he was trying to mix Pump Up the Jam and Holiday Rap on his turntables. If you’re going out could you grab me a Coke Zero and a Twix?
If you isolate the individual drumbeats from this song and arrange them in a circle, it unlocks a cheat mode that allows you to pass through solid surfaces at will ROFL!!!1
@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494my mate Paul says boringness is subject to relativity. … But he also finds Taylor swift exciting so I’m not sure how good his meter of boring is
I had no idea about this show or meme and watched the entire video solely based on that line in the thumbnail. and now I'm gonna look up the show. thanks Stanley!
Honestly, I'm just going to be disappointed now when historical documentaries don't take a brief and unnecessary segway to discuss the release of unrelated Belgian techno-anthem Pump Up the Jam.
Shout out to the RU-vid algorithm for this piece of gold...which is the same gold as the gold record that technotronic's "pump up the jam" received from the UK!
When this joke first appeared in the show, I was so legitimately floored that I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. I can't believe that they got away with this, and I can't believe they did it each episode. It is absurdity in its finest.
"If you isolate the individual drumbeats from this song and arrange them in a circle it locks a cheat mode that allows you to pass through the solid surfaces at will." peak writing, I AM IN TEARS
The best part about this video is, that somehow youtube thinks this is a regular music video. So it keeps making music mixes for me with this video in it
I love her British accent saying "pomp op the jahm", scrolling up the Billboard list cutting in from an intricate piece of scholarly history 😂😂😂😂 by the third time, you're like "oh ok this is gonna be in every episode"
I wasn’t paying attention when I first watched the initial episodes on separate days so at first I thought “Didn’t I just watch this?” I went back to the Netflix episode screen and I’m like “huh, recurring gag” come along the third episode i was like “yup…😂”
I've been looking for this song for ages. Not "Pump up the Jam" but "Swing the Mood", the number two song which is also unrelated but didn't take the world by storm.
I love how she literally uses the release of that song the same way everyone else who uses the Gregorian calendar refers to the period around Christ’s birth.
THE CHEAT CODE WORKS!!! I can now pass through walls, doors, any solid surface I please! All thanks to unrelated Belgium dance group Technotronic's Pump Up the Jam.

Over 5 million native inhabitants were killed by the regime of the Congo Free State, but some of the survivors would go on to become the ancestors of Ya Kid K, the lead singer of the Belgian techno anthem, Pump Up The Jam
When I realized every one of the first 4 were just setups to end the joke on the actual year of its release. Brilliant. The way she doesn't say "unrelated". 😂😂
Its also hilarious to think that the fake producers of this fake show could only afford the rights to ONE SONG so they had to use it on every single fake episode lmaoooo
When this joke kept coming back I genuinely didn’t know what was happening because I wasn’t paying full attention to the tv, so it was like the song was just going on forever. I had missed the bits of the actual episodes in between the song references and I felt like I was going through some groundhog day shit.
RU-vid has been suggesting this woman's videos for a year-and-a-half. I have no idea who she is, what this TV show is about, but clearly the algorithm insist I must watch her.
The Doctor has spoken of "fixed points" in time that cannot be altered even by a Time Lord, the most prominent of which is the 1989 release of Belgian techno anthem, "Pump Up the Jam".
