I grew up in the mountains of western North Carolina in the U.S.A.. I love what we call Glogging! All this dancing from our Irish history. It is the same dance and music we see in Ireland. Here in the mountains, these folks are called hillbillies. The name, in the past of a hillbilly was always simply referring to a simple farming and beautiful life of the people that settled in these mountains. Then hillbillies became a name of low class people. This is a shame, because the dance and the music of the Great Smokie Mountains in the USA is powerful and tells a tale of a great ancestry of the Irish immigrants!.
Great video we really enjoyed it and I also had the pleasure performing with Brian Cunnigham in 2011 at a folk festival what a mixture "Uilleann Pipes & Sean nos dance" why not check it out you won't be dissapointed. Thanks
Please tell me how we can contact these dancers. We are making a film about Irish culture and the language, we would love to include them in our footage. Contact me at frankdevenney@hotmail.com.
