So much like Tap dancing, I took it from there years until marriage and taught while in High Schol for the village. I would love this but am a little slower now as I am 69 yrs old, but this is really what I love. My grandfather was German and he would take me to dance school until he passed and then my parents took over you may say. then as we lived in town, so I could walk and took Tap, jazz, Ballet and baton, but Tap was my favorite. Now I see why grandpa did took me to dance, as my mom told how when she grew up living in the country, they rolled up the rugs and would do the Jig, and the family played their music (even the spoons) and mom was called " Little Miss Frill" as of the fancy dresses ( No pants for women back then) and she would Jig from a young age. Jig or 'improvised Irish dance" is more fun, as you just '''let go'' and can do as you please, as long as it keeps the time step with the music I ended up after marriage doing more of this kind of dance just to relax in the evening after work was down and it was quieter, as it came naturally with music it was free flow. Not a certain routine. . LOVED WATCHING all of you and it was Fabulous!!! Great music too.. Thank you!
HI Carol, interesting reading your comments, I've not the history of dance that you have, but I'm teaching my self Sean-nos, from Utube ,I'm 75 ,like you I do free style, improvise, when I hear Irish music withe fiddle or the banjo, mainly a reel I want to get up and dance
They are great and all different to each other but there are definite steps and you would need a good nights sleep before and after. We can thank Michael Flatley and Jean Butler for this explosion of Irish dancing modern and Sean nod. We wish Michael well with his illness. He didn’t get half enough praise for the joy his dancing brought to the whole world and the lovely Jean Butler. Thank you both
Such a fun video!! I'm very familiar with a few of you as I've been dancing with Ben Powers down here in San Diego and he speaks nothing but the highest praise of you! I hope to cross paths with you all at a seisiún some day! Slan go foill
Sin an CRAIC! I luv it! Me favorite Irish dancing vid ever! It stinks the fun! Lol Ach, these steipeanna they got all names, right? What is the one the lass does from 5:16 when she crosses her legs? Agus tá Brian dochreidte tharr cinn! ^^ He is an ceann is fearr
What are the other tunes played besides Pigeon On The Gates? @Cathy Jordan ps: I really liked what you did in a video with Shannon Heaton over a year ago I think it was. Sláinte agat! 😊
what you are watching is step dancing. Sean nos refers only to singing, pin the irish language. Smarten up . Once again, these dancers are fantastic, not to mention their musical accompianment.
no such genre as “Sean not” dancers. Fantastic dancing, but typical internet disinformation dribble. Stay in your lane lads and lassies. Meaning dance and shut your gob. :0
