These are the base or foundational support settings that I check, and recommend you do too, every single time I print. Understanding the concepts of the support settings in Cura will allow you to adjust and tweak the support settings for your 3D printer.
Now that we did the overhang angle test, we can now get into those foundational settings, or I like to call the base settings, of supports. These base settings are the list of support settings that you should be checking and adjusting each time you print. Once you understand how the supports work and you know what to look for, you will be able to change and/or tweak the support settings for every print you create that needs supports.

These few on supports is a big topic a lot of people have trouble with. It’s invaluable to understand all aspects. I still don’t know how many videos this is going to be in total. 😅 I just keep breaking them up into sections that are easy to digest. It’s more important to me help people understand instead of just telling everything in one go. You definitely will be in an amazing position when you get your printer. When do you plan on getting it? Have you settled on a specific one?

@@ItsMeaDMaDe I’m hoping soon. I’ve had people give me gift cards instead of gifts for different things lol. I find myself leaning towards like an Ender 3

@@robmcdonald6808 the ender 3 is awesome. I highly recommend for a starter 3D printer. I have two ender 3 pros and one ender 3. You might want to check out micro center they have a deal to get a ender 3 for $100.

I keep having issues printing models from elbows out towards the hands and I think I’ll set supports to everywhere and try it again, great videos for new people like myself 👍🏽

Did not know that you could use a model that you import in and turn that into a support. This opens up a whole new possibility of supporting only certain parts of a print.

Yes! It’s such a under utilized feature in Cura. I keep a 3D box for that exact purpose where you don’t want supports everywhere and just in one spot.

Hey Chris thank you for your tutorials. Really helps me get into the 3D printing world. Quick questions about support: Can we apply different support settings to different support blocks? And also can we manually delete some of the generated support? Many thanks

Thank you sir. Very informative, I learned alot. I'll have to see if the creality slicer is able to do that. Cause all I'm using is the creality software.

I use to use that and switched to Cura. Dunno if it has all the same settings. But either way hope it helps

@@ItsMeaDMaDe yeah the creality software looks almost the same as cura. I tried to download cura, and for some reason its not staying on my computer. It has a cura icon on the desktop but when I click it, it goes through the whole download process like its the first time. I Uninstalled it completely a few times and reinstalled with RU-vid video help and still the same thing. Lol maybe my computer doesn't like cura. Is this a normal process, do you go through this when you boot it up? Thx

@@thequietshodan I remember having issues long time ago. If I remember I had to delete the creality version then install Cura. The softwares were conflicting. Dunno if it would be the same case.

Hi ! Is there a way to print the settings of our models on paper ? What I would like, is to have a printed copy of all the printer settings for each of my prints. Also, is there a way that I could print blanks sheets of the settings of Creality printer ? This way I could figure out my settings before entering them in Cura. And also keep a paper copy for the records.

Hey Chris I know you always say to print slow and at a high resolution but do you ever change your nozzle to a smaller nozzle?
@ItsMeaDMaDe
@ItsMeaDMaDe 2 года назад
No, I have never changed nozzles. For the resolution I want the standard .04mm nozzle works great. I might do some experiments in the future with different size nozzles just for fun. All i do know is larger nozzles give faster print times and less quality and smaller nozzles make longer print times and higher quality if that helps...

I was playing with the support settings like in yur video. I selected, lines, touching the build plate, adhesion skirt. I sliced it it looked ok. I selected brim, i sliced it, it looked ok. I selected raft, sliced ok. I tried adhesion 'none', sliced it, it said 'unable to slice'. what would the reason be. I swiched it to supports everywhere instead of touching buildplate, adhesion 'none', sliced it, still unable to slice. why? TIA
@ItsMeaDMaDe
@ItsMeaDMaDe 2 года назад
That’s extremely strange. I honestly haven’t heard of anyone having that issue. Might be the model. I would test the same thing on another model in a new project after a testy of Cura. Maybe it’s a glitch or bug.
