How do you get your models to stick to your supports while allowing them to be removed easily?
That is the question this entire video is focused on. The topic is all focused on your Cura Support interface. Specifically targeted to your floor interface and your roof interface. There are two types of supports; the first adheres to your print bed, and the second is the kind that adhere to your model. That is where your floors and roofs come in handy to understand. I break down how to find your perfect interface settings by showing how to test and discover your perfect numbers.
I uploaded the test models I created on thingiverse for you to follow along. Download them here:

The more you put in, the more your students get out. It's so important to not just be given good settings, but to have clear, real world examples of what is actually happening. In short, why the chosen settings have been chosen. You, sir, are raising my game and I am very grateful to you for it.

No, thank you once again for the kind words! I firmly believe seeing is believing. I know just telling people what the settings are doesn’t help them when things don’t work. My goal is always complete understanding. This topic was one of the most important hence the length.

This lesson 100% needs to be mandatory viewing for anyone even thinking about printing. This is absolutely singlehandedly the most important lesson I've ever seen when it comes to printing. You could not have done a better job at detailing this immensely important setting. I'm amazed bro, truly incredible and I want to thank you so much for sharing this info and demonstrating it the way you did. Simply fantastic in every way. Also, how TF do you have DARK MODE CURA?!?! I can not fckin stand how white and bright cura is

Excellent video and tutorial, Cura will only lay support at the same interval as the layer height for the model. so in your case 0.1mm is the layer height so that will be the height at which the support will be laid. So a test of 0.3mm is a gap of 3 layers or 0.3mm. But a support height of 0.35mm will also be a gap of 3 layers or 0.3mm. The same as the 0.25mm support is in fact a gap of only 0.2mm not 0.25mm!

Great video series, one note that seems to have been glossed over the support top and bottom z-distance needs to be a multiple of the layer height, or cura will just round it up anyway. so say you are printing at a 0.1 mm layer height, then your 0.35 and 0.4 are the same distance as far as cura is concerned.
@dinkyemg
@dinkyemg Год назад
I was just going to point this out. You can tell in the cura preview that it always rounds up based on your layer height. Will save people a lot of time in testing if this was pinned somewhere

@@ItsMeaDMaDe hah.. I did, subscribed so I can check out your other videos, but have about 72 hours to successfully do this print for a bday. Also currently watching a hockey game and listening to a live band while doing so. I’m wired 🤪

Dyslexia with numbers @ 1:15 is called Dyscalculia. :D Great tutorial. Testing my Enders right now and it seems i am getting the same results as you got. I am testing right now if Ironing makes any difference and if i need to adjust my floor settings if ironing is turned of or on.

Awesome vid, very methodical, super informative, real technical detail without the typical lame attempts at color commentary.
