Brian has such emotional vocals, I had the pleasure of meeting him in Melbourne after their show and he is genuinely the most humble and loveliest guy Chris is seriously such an amazing songwriter, the stuff he writes for both Currents and Shadow of Intent is amazing, and he writes things that fit the vocals of Ben and Brian so perfectly. He's seriously underrated I love this band so much
What I don't like about a lot of metalcore is, that it's not really surprising anymore. Nothing makes me go like: What? Chris I think started playing piano, then cello and then started guitar at age 14 (not 100 percent sure but I think so) and maybe through that he has a more composer style of writing which makes him so unique and good at songwriting. He just incorperates so much new stuff I haven't heard yet in the way he does it. Maybe it's just me but I feel like that could be one of the reasons he is so amazing at it. And the combination with either Ben in Shadow of Intent or Brian on Currents is complete overkill
I literally can not explain the emotional feelings i get whenever I hear the breakdown. The build up before the breakdown makes me feel like my brain is connecting to my past memories and everything is flashing before my eyes and then when the breakdown hits it all hits me like a freight train like “what would’ve happened to me if I hadn’t ever met my wife” “what happened if we ended up never having our daughter” etc. etc. I don’t know. I always end up literally crying whenever the breakdown hits. I can’t explain my love for currents and how close to home they hit for me.
I feel that as they grow further into their sound, they become more of like a kind of required taste, but regardless, you're right that their melodic songs are super top-notch.
Might be one of their best songs ever. A lot of the tone and feeling of this song is reminiscent of Invent Animate as well. The production is so full, Brian has never sounded better, and I'm glad they're finally technical again. The shifts between the massive vocals and the ambient, groovy vibes is soooo gooood
Brian has grown to be one of my favourite vocalist in the scene. I used to think he was a bit boring but I've really come to appreciate his voice. His cleans range from beautiful and ethereal to catchy and poppy. While I feel like he uses his normal mid screams a bit too much, there is a lot of emotion in it and it makes me appreciate his deep lows and screeching highs quite a bit more. Currents has definitely become one of my favourite bands of all time. Also, I wish Ryan the best of luck so that he can recover quickly.
Personally, I think Chris is one of the best songwriters of this generation, his music has absolutely everything at the right amounts and at the right times. Heaviness and melody, simplicity and complexity, little sprinkles of unexpected twists in the songwriting here and there. Yeah, I'm a fanboy. 😂
YES! They both about to release an albums this year. Can't even express how excited i am for them. Hell! Invent Animate is droping a new single in 30 minutes! Let's go!
@@austingarber3368 Definitely going. Sucks that IA won’t be with them for the Chicago show, but I’ll be seeing them literally a week later with Bad Omens and ERRA (honestly best tour lineup I’ve ever seen, 2/3 of my top 3 bands and one of my top 5), so it evens out. May is gonna be a crazy month for shows.
@@NicBrandon I saw Bad Omens twice last year, saw Erra with We Came As Romans last month, seeing Fit For A King this weekend, August Burns Red and Nothing More shows next month and then the Currents show is the night before I see Wage War! All these are at the same venue 😂 it’s been a great year so far!
@@austingarber3368 lmao I saw Bad Omens twice as well (this’ll be my third time for them, 3rd for IA, and 2nd for ERRA). So far for this year I just have that, Currents, Spiritbox and the Trivium/Beartooth co-headliner; hoping for Architects to finally make good on a NA show (last 2 have been cancelled 😀).
As a CT resident, I’m so proud to be from the same state as these guys, for the most part our state is quite depressing and I think bands like Currents and Boundaries evoke that. Both bands give me a place to cope and love them to pieces 🖤
Please stop trying to compare these songs. While the new singles don't top TWIE, that's because it doesn't need to It's hard to come off of TWIE, and instead of trying to do TWIE better and accidentally dropping a "The Path" kind of album, they took the sounds from before and made them work even better, refined them beyond belief. The Death We Seek is TPIFS, and this song is definitely a good mix of ILTDI and TWIE, but refined and forged in absolute diamond. Just be grateful that currents is dropping absolute heat, instead of trying to instantly fit it into some sort of a ranking
Holy damn, they have not disappointed once. Once I discovered them a couple years back -- immediately became my #1 heavy band. And these new singles, daaaym
Remember meeeee, remember meeeeeee, as you loved meeeeeee. Can't get much catchier than that. Brian and the whole band is on another level. This album will absolutely be AOTY contender. This year is gonna be so good.
This single is my favourite even tho The death we seek was a great track that I listened to a lot and vengeance grew on me with time. But since I am a big lover of emotional heavy tracks like this this is my favourite one I can hear a lot of elements from their previous work in the way it ends or the place I feel the safest. Their overall sound has changed same with the way to layer vocals from what I see but yea can't wait for the album
idk man this song really speaks to me a lot. I think it's just that riff man that one section is just peak for me dude. My favorite song every right now I mean Currents with every album drops a song or album and it becomes my favorite song.
@@Glintingbeetle No, not at all. Only heard this song 1500 times from at least 100 bands in recent years, but I'm sure they are not generic new core stuff
It must be horrible to know Ronnie is being praised for many people, from musicians, producers and such, while one fellow man it's just a simple reactor, poor dude.
My god this single gives me goosebumps. I’m so excited for this album. They’re my new favorite band. Used to be ADTR… way back in the day. Then Wage War. Currents takes the cake though
Yo this is so nasty. Everytime I listen to it I just get so jacked for this album !!! May 5th is way too far away !!!… this will most likely be my AOTY. Just like their last album. 🤘😝
