Your statement "its all big songs with big choruses" has its truth, but that means that this album is insane when it comes to what it brings to a playlist, you can throw it into a playlist amd every time a song from it plays, it is great, there are no fillers or songs that just make sence in the context of the album, i really like that personally

For me, this album (just like the way it ends) needed more than just the initial listen. You're 100% right that it's mostly big tracks with big choruses and those sound kind of similar upon first listen. BUT, after a couple listens through the album's overarching themes start to appear and the whole thing becomes so much more cohesive. I spun it for the first time then it just kind of sat in my library until I remembered how the same thing happened with the way it ends so I spun it back to back and now it's just constantly in my rotation throughout the day. They are masters but it just takes a couple more listens.

The album is amazing because of its consistency. Not having a down song is what I want out of a 10 song album. They killed it with every song and it’s just heavy af, which is what we all wanted for this album. Drums, vocals, guitars, just all around a huge step up. Over and Over may be the best song imo but I’m so happy to see just a greatly produced, consistent album that melts your face 🤘🏼

The Way it Ends - was a banger album. To be honest, I had no expectations or at least not many. I had heard only one or two singles. Individually, they weren’t clicking. Today I listened to the new album and it was heavy. Usually, I am not a big fan of "Deathcore" heavy, the melodies on this album made it very enjoyable. I have listened to this album maybe 3 times in a row and it slaps. I love it so far. It is definitely different from The Way It Ends, but I have no issue with that. I agree that the two ending tracks don't give a sense of completion as on the The Way it Ends. However, I will add that I think Vengeance is a unique song as well. I think Living in Tragedy is my current favorite. I listened through a few times and it's changing shape a bit, but the ending does seem a bit anticlimactic. Still stoked on it. If this was nearly any other band this would be a magnum opus, but Currents has created such amazing prior work that they almost doom themselves to deeper critique. @@joearrowsmith6813I agree with harry on this, the general structure and sound of a lot of the songs on this album is a little too similar for me, while The Way It Ends has more changes of pace and emotion. I do like the overall sound of this album more though

Maybe it’s because I’m old, but no new album satisfies me on a first listen. The way it ends took me a while, this won’t take as long. This is good, it’ll probably top their last in time. It’s different but I’m already getting it.

I am in the same boat. It takes me a couple of listens to get a new album. You're not alone in that. Definitely not because you're old. Or maybe I'm an old soul.

might be totally out of pocket, but the scream singing in Gone Astray sounds a lot like Ben Duerr’s use of it on songs like Gravesinger from Shadow of Intent (and yes, i know their guitarist is in both bands)

Despite this album not reaching the same levels as The way it ends, I must praise how far Brian has come. His screams and cleans on this album are top tier, its great to see him hone his craft. And hats off to the man Chris, as always, an absolute mastermind with the guitar in his hands, disgusting, incredible riffage. So this may not be Currents finest album to date, but boy is it a fun album to listen to, kept me head banging from start to finish.

Personally don't agree with you taking down your rating because the album doesn't have a story, but I get what you're saying. But this and Heavener are AOTY for me, and my favorite Currents album. TWIE had some tracks that I barely listen to at all, but I can see myself constantly replaying every track on this album

The way it ends is definitely still my favorite currents album, but this album is still amazing. I think my main criticism would be how a lot of songs tend to keep to the same style of riffs and feel throughout the album, especially with the choruses. My favorite song is probably living in tragedy as of right now, but it’ll probably change as I inevitably listen to this album “over and over” :) my current album of the year is still held by Heavener and I feel like that’s definitely gonna be hard to top for me

I don’t think it is fair to compare this album to others if you do yes I would agree The Way it Ends is by far the best when it comes to story telling. However when it comes with musical stand point, with vocals , guitars, bass, drums, it sounds better. Brian showed us the range on this album and can feel the emotion he gives out each track , guitar work they did amazing almost sound very Mick Gordon on a few. Given the circumstances they had to deal is impressive that they did let that stop them producing such great music.

I thinks it's a way hard to beat The Way It Ends no matter what band you are and what album you are releasing, even if you're fucking Currents this was an album that made a genre, a direction, a style and a sense, it was Master of Puppets of modern metalcore and I'm calm with it. Nevertheless, there is a problem of ending every song with a chorus, and 8/10 songs having the same structure of intro-verse-chorus-verse with breakdown-chorus-breakdown-chorus. The Bogdan's words "these are the great songs with great choruses and breakdowns" are redundant, but the way stories had been told in The Place I Feel Safest and The Way It Ends are closer to me, even I see the progress in Brian's vocal and Currents' direction overall. Anyway, this Album is great, and this is the experience for both Currents and all of us, I hope we will see another album with dimension of The Way It Ends.

i think because most people expect something like ‘the way it ends’ again, especially since it was insane, but it’s best to let bands be different instead of continuing the same sound over and over. *cough cough* abr.

As said, both because people await TWIE 2.0 and because Heavener came out some weeks before. Somehow people can't love both albums and can't love this record because you know, "The Way It Ends is better". It's just the same I heard about Architects Holy Hell : "All Our Gods is better". Yes it was so good. Yet I still dig Holy Hell today. It's the same about Currents : I absolutely love TWIE and yet I still dig TDWS so much. Give me as much listen to it, like 200 maybe more, and I'm sure i'll love it as much as their previous record.

Its a good album, even tho I think each songs are better individually than how the album flows altogether, ngl I was getting a bit bored around the last two tracks. These two tracks arent bad at all, but, esp the choruses/structures, it kinda sounds all the same in a way on this album. I'll have a better time listening to songs here and there on my randomized playlist than an actual full album listen. So as to answer you, The Place I Feel Safest is still not dethroned as absolute #1 for me. Again, far from being a bad album, I still enjoyed it, but I just didnt connect as much as I wanted with this album overall and it bums me out. I'll be jamming some songs like Living in Tragedy, So Alone and Gone Astray, which are easily the best songs on this, but thats about it, probably. Just my opinion, glad most people are adoring it more than me tho. I'd rank the albums: 1) The Place I Feel Safest 2) I Let The Devil In (EP but still) 3) The Death We Seek 4) The Way It Ends

I agree, I jammed it one through and felt kinda bored but now that I’m watching reactions and hearing the songs again they hit different. Individually every song on this album is absolutely perfect to me. I loved it all. The album as a whole is great but the songs should maybe be in a different order??
@hithere-haveagreatday7609
@hithere-haveagreatday7609 Год назад
@@DavidSlEePtOkEnSanchez The songs are great as singles, like all of them can be one. I dont think the order of the songs in the album would change anything, because at the end of the day its pretty much the same structures all over it. Except the three songs I mentionned before, it literally sounds all the same. These songs standout to me because they are different. I just feel they are losing creativity with each new album. Because TPIFS is literally the opposite of this album, almost every song sounds different on it. Thats just my take on it, and at the end of the day I'll still enjoy whatever they put out because I really enjoy their core sound, but I can't help but to be harsh in my critic ever since they dropped that absolute masterpiece of an album TPIFS. My ranking of their albums is literally their oldest to the newest in order lol

Unfortunately i kinda agree with your thoughts here. I actually haven't heard the whole thing yet cause halfway through it all felt same-y to me and your thoughts about it being mostly focused on big choruses makes so much sense. The Way It Ends to me just had a flow and direction that this album does not have sadly.
