I've seen the pic of Keaton's suit in The Flash. I'am really surprised they ditched the yellow belt. It balanced out with the yellow in symbol and broke up all the black perfectly.Whomever designed the newly tweaked costume I think made a mistake removing a part of what made the suit visually stand out and familiar.Nice job with the custom figure.
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
I completely agree. the shots they've shown so far, that is one of the things that glaringly stands out. If you are keeping that old school yellow emblem, it stands to mind that you should keep the old school yellow or gold belt. it just looks like they tried to update parts of the suit while keeping other parts retro so that it was recognizable, and I think they should have just tried to update the whole suit while keeping the same form so that he could have more function but that it could still look recognizable as to which Batman it's supposed to be, just an updated version. I just don't feel like he would be Batman for another 30 years, and the only thing he would do is get a new belt and new gauntlets?
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
One thing I did notice is it looks like Batgirl has roughly the same belt, at least the same belt buckle. So maybe they are going to try to unify the new bat universe through pieces of their costumes matching? I don't know though, I just think, like you, that it looks strange with the rest of the suit.

This was the first VHS movie I ever watched at home. given that I was 6 years old at the time this came out in theaters, my mother wisely decided I was probably not old enough to not be scared to death by the things in the movie. So I got to wait a year, and my first movie in the theaters was the 1990 teenage mutant Ninja Turtles. but then when it came out on VHS my dad got batman, and I got to watch it at home, which my mom was not thrilled about. here comes 7-year-old me now, asking my mom what an "enema" is and why a whole town would need one. I will always appreciate this design and what the movie meant to me as a kid. My current favorite bat suit would have to be Christian Bale's from the dark knight. I own a full replica that was several thousand dollars and is a fantastic looking suit. Not that comfortable to wear, but it looks great. And it's actually more functional than his movie version was. I do really like the Pattinson version as well, and I think it maybe now my favorite Batman movie, and definitely my favorite live-action version of Gotham portrayed on the screen. there have just been some things about the 89 version of batman, and his sequel, that kind of eat away at me now. Certain things about the suit and what it could and definitely could not do, certain things about the batmobile design that make no sense, and definitely his wanton disregard for just murdering everybody that got in his way, sometimes with a smile on his face. but I think what gets to me most of all is the fact that so many nostalgic fans forget all of those parts of that movie, and then they will use that as their perfect version of Batman while complaining that Ben Affleck killed people in his movie.... and all I can think about is if Ben Affleck killed some people in his movie, he definitely learned it from watching the Keaton movie, where Keaton kills probably no less than at least 100 joker henchmen, as many of the red triangle gang is he possibly could, and then most of his villains also if he could get his hands on them. He throws like every single one of his villains off of a building. and most of the time it's 100% on purpose and I just don't understand that people don't see that. But either way I appreciate pretty much all Batman movies except for the George Clooney one......

It might be possible to find some sort of a substitute for the head on ebay. That's where I get a lot of my custom action figure heads if I need something that doesn't exist already. I was looking up the NECA 89 Batman figure, and while you can find it pretty easily, it's the price point that kind of sucks. I don't see any going for less than $80. No good.... ☹️

@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
Thank you! given the current situation with things, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get Michael Keaton Batman at all anymore, and the more and more I think about it, the more I think that's probably the right way to go. You can't be trying to extend your movie franchise by making Batman 73 years old. That's like the opposite of a plan for longevity. Batgirl sounded like a train wreck from start to finish and like it would have been a low quality CW level HBO pegwarmer basically.... I could not have cared less about this new version of Supergirl they wanted to force on us. he was in Batgirl for 5 minutes or less, and I'm not even exaggerating. That's from the people who made the movie themselves. I'm still interested to see what the flash does, if we ever get to see the movie, but for the love of god, I hope they leave it in a way where at the end, Keaton is not batman. At least not in our universe. And that's about the only thing I'll disagree with also, haven't seen what suit he is going to wear in the flash, although his original suit is in the movie because Ezra Miller is seen wearing it in the preview, even though it's been spray painted red. but as for that new costume which we never really saw a good photo of, other than that weird photoshopped mashup shot of him that looked like a Frankenstein shot of multiple body parts stuck together, the more I look at that the more I can't stand it. It looks like someone who had no sense of how to make pieces of a suit all come together is who designed it. The neck on the cowl was fat and awkward, the way the cape connected to the suit was also awkward and strange... the gauntlets didn't really match the rest of the outfit and the belt certainly didn't.

Thank you! Just keep in mind, that there may be some Keaton-based figures coming soon for the Flash movie. You never know. It's possible they may do an anniversary 89 edition or something or just an 89 version because of the new Keaton suit. either way it might be another option that might be a little bit cheaper when it comes out for a Keaton head sculpt that is already painted. the NECA version might be a little more expensive at this point.

@@zackking4742 thank you again! My only worry is it will be like past vehicles, or like the McFarlane 66 Batmobile... Sure the figures fit in the car, but the car isn't nearly not enough to be the correct actual scale to the figure. I hope we actually did an 89 batmobile, even if it's huge, that fits the driver and a passenger like the real car could. And is the correct size for the figures. I wanted a batmobile for my "the Batman" figure, thankfully Hot Wheels recently released a 1:10 scale RC version that a figure can fit inside of. It's still not perfect, but it's closer than the 66 is. Fingers crossed!!! Only real issue with it being correct scale is it will make the car/plane cost probably $300 each..... That's a big part of why the scale then down as much as they can.... Too costly otherwise. I still have to finish my 89 Joker.... But that needs me to have finished my move to a new home first.

I used rit dyemore synthetic graphite and dyed mine... no paint rub, and cast a year two Batman head for the 90s comic style black suit and did the same thing for a keaton head, used the video game version but I sliced the neck and cast the keaton head with a neck piece wedged in the neck so I didn't lose the neck articulation and used the original rubber cape that came on the 3 jokers Batman figure! I didn't know the belt came off and when I tried to dye it the yellow actually turned a goldish yellow and worked out perfectly!

@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
I still haven't gotten into dying plastic yet. I would like to at some point, but I think I need to upgrade my workspace before I start adding all these different types of things. That's part of why I haven't gotten into casting yet either. I tend to enjoy being a doctor Frankenstein if you will, and reusing parts that already exist. if I opened up the door of making my own parts, I don't think the world would ever see me again and someday you would just find a skeleton buried in a bunch of little plastic body parts in a basement somewhere..... 😂😂😂 Someday though!

@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
Yeah I saw that fight, but I would still prefer to see a live-action one from 30 years ago hahaha!!! Thank you for the compliment. I would say all together, if I were to look at it as one straight go, probably took about 3 days total? Not the entire day, but three sit down sessions basically. there was the initial carving and disassembly and putting together to see if the piece is fit, the next one was painting everything, and then after that was assembling him, making the cape, and painting the face.
@MTB214
@MTB214 2 года назад
@@VoidCityReviews someone can edit to look like the fought 30 years ago. interesting choice of paint, how durable is that vinyl paint vs the standard acrylic or lacquer based paint?
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
Well the whole point of the vinyl paint is that it's meant to adhere to surfaces that are not the easiest to adhere to and which are also somewhat flexible. so not only does this paint work perfectly for some of the soft torsos or diaper pieces McFarlane figures have, but also The capes as well. But it also works on the figures just fine. A lot of other paints I have tried don't adhere and never even set properly on this plastic. so that's exactly why I use the vinyl paint. It's the most appropriately suited for the types of plastic used on these action figures. I can't tell you how many times I've bought different spray paints that say "adheres perfectly to plastic," only to try it out, and find out it does not adhere to all plastic, and on some plastic it never even dries. if I were to do this figure again though, I would like to do what some other people have suggested and just dye the plastic black. Then there wouldn't be any sort of worries about paint rub. but as long as you're not super rough with one like this, you're not going to have to worry about it either. I've posed this guy several times and his paint is fine.

@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews Год назад
Why? He doesn't look like this in the movie. He looks like the McFarlane figure in the movie. McFarlane has not made a 1989 Batman figure yet so none of the figures that are out so far "should" look like this at all. Just wait for the rumored 89 + batmobile 2-pack. If it's real. I also guarantee they reuse the Flash Batman Returns suit body with a different head and make a Keaton Batman Returns figure at some point.

That Neca batman has some janky ass proportions, your custom actually improves those problems.
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
That's the funny thing. The NECA batman has correct human proportions of Michael Keaton wearing a bat suit. the McFarlane figure is humongous and buff and about a foot taller than Keaton would be in real life. I think all together as a human wearing a bat suit it looks a little bit nicer, but the neck of figure actually had the correct proportions of Michael Keaton himself in the bat suit. I mean he was kind of a scrawny little guy who didn't put on any muscle at all for that movie, it was all in the suit. And the mask was gigantic. It really was. That's why the head looks so big on that figure. I think Clooney was the biggest of the original movie batman, I know Val isn't much bigger than keaton, but Keaton was definitely the smallest. that was one of the original problems people had with him playing Batman back when they first announced it in '89. people were just as outraged about Keaton playing Batman as they were these days about Heath ledger playing joker, and it's kind of funny because everyone's always wrong about that stuff but they still have to get outraged anyways beforehand haha.

@jboogie8159

@@VoidCityReviews I don't know what it is but Neca really has not done a good live action batman , something is lost in the process . Christian Bale batman looks coked out of his mind and keaton looks like a kid on halloween. It may mean that a figure needs a little exagerated proportions to appear normal in hand. Your batman don't appear muscle bound but has a natural look on camera
@VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
@@jboogie8159 thank you! it does look I think more proportionate overall, but like I said, If you want to really realistic key and figure, it's not going to have proportions like other hero figures because he's a tiny little guy. @VoidCityReviews
@VoidCityReviews 2 года назад
I've seen it once, a long time ago, as a photo on a Facebook page. it can be done but you have to pick the parts carefully, because spawn figures are a different scale than the DC multiverse figures. DC multiverse are 7 in, whereas the spawn figures are almost eight. so you always have to be careful which pieces you mix. you can do head swaps pretty easily, but if you start switching things like arms and legs then you might end up with appendages that look too short or too long, that kind of thing.
