Informative video. I would still want the physical manual to read indoors at my leisure. Remember when computer modules didn't run everything in a car? I never had any of these issues with hand crank windows.
Everything being integrated into the infotainment also sucks if you want to upgrade your sound system or anything. you're basically stuck with the stock head unit and a lot of them have horrible output.
trouble - First thing I do when buying a car is get the Chilton's or Haynes manual. But now my 2001 Toyota Celica HAS NO MANUAL. It's online so I print the basics (table of contents, etc) and whenever I look at something special, I print those pages also and build my "manual".
That's on the salesman, a lot of these salesmen don't know anything about cars but what they're told. Any newer used vehicle a Salesman should have run through all the features of the vehicle including the owner's manual and where to find it
@@FordBossMe completely understood. But good on you for actually showing people where to find stuff. That way people don't have to bring in their vehicles for service when they truly don't need it. I'm not trying to bash the salesman but some of them just need to educate the customers more it would avoid a lot of problems
@@pilotguy1141 Have you ever seen a printed Owner's Manual? It's about 300+ pages now. Do you expect the salesperson to know every single vehicle sold and spend 1-2 hours going through all of the features? That's hardly realistic. I doubt the new owner would want to spend that amount of time. Forgetting the features demonstrated would take about the time for the owner to drive home.
@@buckhorncortez I never said explain the whole owners manual they could at least show the customer where it is located if they have any issues they can troubleshoot an issue themselves before panicking and making a non needed appointment at a dealership
God you are the man. Brought to the dealership 2 times for this for software upgrade to resolve they said. Happened for a third time now found this. So far so good. How do they not know about this Thanks again man.
I was about to take my truck to a dealership, soonest appointment was 3 weeks away, I grew impatient and was about to pull off the entire door panel. Sooooooo glad I found this video much easier 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!
sad how Ford is tryin to cut corners esp no including owners manuals in their new vehicles, not everyone is computer literate..another great informative video :)
I'm 31 but it's pretty trash that they aren't including owner manuals now. My 2020 Edge ST still came with one tho. Fwiw my 2013-2020 Dodges all had the owners manual on the uconnect screen but also had real manual. Fords infotainment system is terrible btw.
On board owners manuals aren’t a bad idea. It’s just I haven’t figured out how to take my truck to bed with me so I can learn about the vehicle before I get in it. And in the middle of a cold VT winter I gotta run the truck just to stay warm. Not giving the customer a choice of a full paper manual OR the onboard version is a great disservice to many customers. Trying to trick us old farts into thinking it’s a neat feature doesn’t fly. It’s a cost cutting move plain & simple. I’m still learning about all the crap I didn’t want on my new 2021 F150.
Ford has a RU-vid Channel for all those special features or tips to using your vehicle. That way you don’t get caught sleeping with your truck at night.
@@TheBullsfan19 Thanks for the tip. However, when I said old fart I meant it. After spending a career on computers I now want to spend the least amount of time possible staring into a boob tube. When my hobby magazines stop making print copies I’ll give them up! Give me old fashioned paper or GIVE ME DEATH!!
My 21 started doing this a couple of weeks ago then the auto up feature quit. Did this reset and now it works. Thank you very much. I thought the switch was going bad.
I wanted to thank u for info about GM window switch's re-soldered mine it helped but i had another issue the contacts on the silicon circuit board cover were corroded little bit so i took back apart and lightly sanded them both on board and silicon now works good thank u again.
Omg thank you 🙏 we have a king ranch PowerBoost. And had this happen. Freezing cold in CO too and service couldn’t get us in until mid-March! Even calling Ford did nothing. Unreal. Window is back to normal.
I still like that I have an owners manual for my 2015 F-150. We have two new 2021s at work and I can’t even find out capacities and specifications for fluids.
You can find an Owners Manual in pdf format online very easily. With a pdf, you can carry the file with you on ur smartphone and have the Owner's manual with you at all times. Good luck...
@@biz4twobiz463 I’m aware of that and I have my 2015 owners manual saved on my phone. But the new manual does not have capacities and specifications like the old manual
Just bought a ‘19 F-150, the rain guards I put on made it do this. Sat for a day with the windows up seemed to have settled them. My ‘15 F-150 bounced back on the Highway sometimes due to air pressure.
Thank you. Man I feel dumb as the only diagnostics technician at the shop I work at. I can't believe I didn't figure that out, this happened to my new 21 f150 stx and it seems to have fixed itself
How is customer going to know what bounce back. When you owned a truck that was 10 years old and you just purchased a 2021. The customer service manager should had taken care of it and never set it to the mechanic.
Until I saw your video I thought I only had an abridged version on the owner’s manual on my 2022 f150. I didn’t realize it had a search option. Thanks for letting me know that and for how to reset the windows.
Well ain't neither gonna help when you stuck in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee, with no signal trying to find where the trailer light fuse is. I know because I've been in that situation. And your not supposed to have the vehicle on when changing fuses.
I bet it's nice to have an easy one like this every once in awhile. I remember when I was working at a mechanic shop, one day you might be five cars and they were relatively easy in the next five cars or nightmares, be blessed.
2019 Mustang GT convertible has had the actuator replacement 2x. Passenger side is still going up and down on it own. This month the driver side just started doing the same thing.🙈😒
Thing is that older generation will see this and I’m taking it to the dealership. Sure it’s simple for us but many can’t hardly operate a cellphone correctly but now you want them to find solutions through all that bs and then remember the instructions to follow? Not.
Never heard of this feature, nice to know, If I had owned the 2021 and ran into the same issue, I would have used the on board manual, if that had not resolved, RU-vid Next and then to the dealership over the phone service desk.
For everyone whining about not having a paper manual, there is no search feature on the paper copy. The manual is available on the centre stack, on the Ford Pass APP, and there are many how to video’s (official Ford videos) on RU-vid. My wife’s Toyota comes with a paper manual. Good luck finding the needle in the 900 page haystack.
Thanks I took my new truck to the shop they claimed they checked it out but didn't know what the issue was and wanted me to leave the truck for a few days. It had been like that for almost a year now until today that I saw your video 🤦
"Reset" from what? Is this procedure to let the computer know where the window is initially? Side question: How does the window sense when your kid's hand is in the opening? I would think that the computer is expecting resistance at the top of travel, but if it senses resistance prior to that, it assumes an obstruction(?) I wonder if position sense is tied into rotations of the motor shaft or there is some index on the shaft like the old fashion resistance on a float gauge in the tank. I wish I had gotten deeper into engineering. I have a 2003 Camry that will come down slightly if there is heavy frost on the window. I have to wait a few minutes before the motor will run again. If I pull up too hard on the window in an attempt to help it up it also stops and retracts slightly.
It, the truck, explains this when you go to reset it. The first 2 seconds is to disable the safety feature. The second 2 seconds is to reset the set point. Once it is reset, the safety feature is turned back on.
Holy Sht. Greenway Ford in Orlando didn't know this and made me put in a new switch! And my window is doing that "bounce back" again! So I'll try this out. Currently hating my $56,000 truck as mpg is really 21 (not 24) and the window keeps NOT closing. Thanks Ford Boss Me for the video! You rock!
@@FordBossMe The 2 second hold up the switch trick worked! So not used to new vehicles not having manuals. Sucks that - 1. You have to be in your auto to access the screen. 2. You can't do it while moving. 3. The "search" feature sucks for finding anything (as does most non browser search features). I did try to find "window doesn't close" and a million other searches in the vehicle touch screen but only succeeded in doing it on youtube.
If people took the time to know their truck. They would find the manual in the settings. It's not hard or time consuming to find. Every new truck I've had, I've gone through the settings. To find out what's new.
That’s just showing us how the window works.. the problem people are facing is that once it hits the top it comes down.. so holding the button to hold it to the top.. does not work. You are telling people to roll it all the way up when in fact it doesn’t go to the top or else it comes straight down..
Yeah, wanted to take my owner’s manual with me inside the house to read either in my recliner or my bed. Found that neither were rated for the weight of the truck. Winter reading requires starting the truck to stay warm! Ford in it’s infinite wisdom of how to save a buck ultimately winds up pissing the consumer off. Let’s see, vehicles with no spare tire, annoying auto/start stop, no paper owners manual and vehicles that are more computer than automobile. And I haven’t even mentioned EVs yet!
Yeah but we're talkin about a Ford F-150 and the Ford F-150 has had this feature for a long time too Toyota hasn't pulled any kind of Miracle out by having the option neither has ford
I don't like how slow the dash response is when going through options. I hate getting in a vehicle and someone has music blaring and it takes a minute just to turn off.
Mines 2021 said the 2 second thing but it didn’t work…. Every time I did the 2 second it bounced down an inch. Tried the 5 second you talked about at beginning and that worked ?????
Now check all your fuses and relays under the hood literally every single one in my 2021 f150 was only half way pressed in so I lost power on the interstate truck shut down then started fine. Got home checked that all were loss that's why the window did that truck now thinks the battery was low computer fully reset due to loss of power to all relays and fuses.
22 Raptor. That video doesn't exist on the virtual owner's manual. My window was fine until I took it for service and had door rattle checked. Door rattle is still there. Did this and it fixed it but then recently Sync updated and now it doesn't work again.
@@FordBossMe I'm trying it right now. As soon as I pull up on the button it bounces back. I do the over-ride bounce back thing that the virtual owner's manual says to do and it still bounces back.
My buddies BRAND NEW 2019 F1 wimpy's driver's door would not stay shut!!! The SECOND DAY he owned the truck!!! It took four slam's for the door to stay shut!!! He traded in a 2014 F1 wimpy because the EcoBoost took a crap at 77,000 miles!!! He bought another junk Ford product!!! built Ford tough!!!!
Why are you here buddy? Do you need help? Seen a random video and clicked on it? Trolling just to talk smack? Do you feel you are building up a relationship with me that would want to help you when you need help?
I have a 2021 xlt with 8000 miles on it.My drivers window lately started doing the bounceback.when i get it all the way up.I pull upto reset it and it just rolles down 4 inches and stops
I have a similar issue on my 2021 Explorer but I cannot get the window to go up and stay up. If I hold the button in up position the window will go right to the top but immediately comes back down even tho I'm holding the up position on the control. So resetting the window auto algorithm is possible because it won't stay up long enough (5-10 seconds) to reset. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Love your videos.
I think what you're going to have to do is you're going to have to let the dealer run it through their Factory computer and actually relearn it that way
Hello! In my 2021 F-150 STX the compass on the sync 4 system always is pointing northe while the one on the instrument cluster works just fine. What can I do. Is there any calibration??? Thanks
My 22 has the problem of the window not rolling all the way down and then the bounce back as well. When I seat the window fully closed and go to hold the up switch, it just bounces back. I am unable to reset it. Any insight before I warranty it?
