When someone brings a car to be fixed like that filthy hoarder car, ask them to clean out their garbage first. No one should put up with that and if you do it for customer relations, yeah, you don't need this kind of customer.

I used to work at a car wash. Had a woman come in in a Prius. She had so much crap in her car that only the driver's seat could be used, and there was so much weight that it was too low to fit onto the conveyor. We directed her to our dumpster in hopes that removing the trash would lighten it enough for her car to get washed. She sat there for 8 hours, didn't throw out a single item.

I've watched a bunch of these "Customer States" videos and I am amazed at the ignorance of car owners and surprised there aren't more accidents caused by their failure to properly maintain the vehicles they drive.

10:40 I actually had something like this happen to me. Had my oil changed at a shop and they didn't tighten the drain plug back in right. The next week it popped out on the highway when I was 200 miles away from home. The shop owner ended up bringing a trailer out and towing my car back to his shop so they could replace my destroyed engine.

At 12:35, that is a Ford modular V8. This is such a reliable motor and very easy on the oil....to make it look like that you have to NEVER change the oil ever.

Rule of thumb, any time the mechanics start laughing at your car, it's gonna be expensive... I've heard of split rim wheels before, but that one takes the cake! 7:23 That's a Ford Leaf at 15:10... I can't believe I'm on the same roads as some of these people!

Jeep transfer cases explode fairly often, 'cause people flat tow them in gear. They think you put the transmission in neutral, when it's supposed to be the transfer case.

I had a 1993 Ford Tempo and the spare tire compartment filled with water like that one in the vid. I added weather stripping to the trunk lid but couldnt figure out where it was leaking from so I just carefully drilled a hole in the floor so it could drain 😂

These would probably be more surprising to me if I understood what I was looking at. Still interesting to watch though. I have a 22-year-old Lexus ES300 that goes in the shop every 3-5 thousand miles to hopefully catch things before they get outta hand.

Nope, I have straight up forced service managers to drive in and out hoarder vehicles. I refuse to sit in them. If he wants that money that bad he’ll tolerate that kind of bad behavior from a customer he’s gotta do it himself.

8:09 That's how the brakes on my 86 LeBaron turbo convertible looked after driving several months having to downshift to slow down. Shop said there was only 1 pad doing ANY work, and in all his years as a mechanic, he'd never seen brakes as bad as mine. He actually hung one of what was left of a rotor on the wall in his shop.

That air filter at 16:28 was unbelievable. Maybe I am just anal but I change my air filters every year when pollen season ends here in Atlanta GA. Around here it settles thick and colors everything greenish yellow.

I also had chipmunks build a nest under the hood of my S-10 that caught fire as I was driving. I had to dump a whole super big gulp on it. Strange thing is, it was never parked mire than a few days so they had to have just done it.

@Neon Afterglow when I was in school we had shop class, to graduate out of shop class we were put in teams of two, we had to completely tare down and put back together a 454 and it had to run.

What do you think about electric vehicles? They are much easier to maintain. More of that, recent combustion engines are too complex for diy repairs. I like driving combustion cars though, but I see clearly that they will become extinct soon for usual customer. Unless you are a petrolhead and agree to spend 5x on a combustion car. (My guess)

@@neonafterglow4451 nowadays in shop classes kids get to stand behind the yellow safety line and watch the teacher do all the work, thanks to insurance adjusters/lawyers overthinking everything. At least thats what happened in my county in Florida (the land of lawsuits), I'm sure it's different in many other places though.

It boggles my mind me as to how so many people think vehicles just run on gas more so the ones that drive eith little to no rotors left. How does the driver not hear the grinding noise? How is he/she still alive for that matter 😅?

6:55 - it looks like someone put motor oil in the master cylinder for the brake. Once upon a time, in Cincinnati Ohio, someone did this to a 20,000 pound armored car (Metropolitan Armored Car, later called AT Systems). A second armored car had to get in front of the one with no brakes and help it to stop, all the way back to the company's local garage / headquarters building.

1:29 I’ve blown my muffler on my truck before and the idiot at the muffler repair shop didn’t catch that a motor mount also broke and rerouted my exhaust line so when I got the mount fixed they had to adjust the exhaust so it didn’t rub against the driveshaft. 10:42 my mother in law couldn’t find a can of Dr Pepper in her van and one day in the summer she hit the brakes at a red light and the can came flying at the dash spraying Dr Pepper all over the place. Luckily the can missed us. It was like a missile and didn’t realize what it was until it sprayed.

14:50 lol my VW Beetle did that, it was a rainy day and I took it on the highway and thought I heard like ... flapping? It sounded like the car was being attacked by birds or something, it was bizarre. So I pulled over in a Burger King parking lot and looked at the roof xD the clear coat was just shedding off and flying all over the place apparently. Oh well. It still runs, it's 20 years old and I just sold it to a family member who says it still drives great, good car but they are finally going to get it repainted.

I'm not mechanical. I know that there is something very wrong in practically every one of theses vids, but sometimes I don't know exactly what. 4:54 is a good example. Like I know it should have a fluid in there for lubrication and heat reduction, but was that all? I'm not sure.

That area actually is supposed to be dry. What it looks like to me is a thrust bearing went out in the engine, the crankshaft has way too much endplay. The excess movement allowed the flywheel to break the clutch and punch a hole in the front of the transmission.

Most of these would take quite awhile to get that bad which would have easily been noticed and failed long prior with a 6 monthly warrant of fitness or roadworthy inspection but obviously there is nothing like that in place wherever these are?

My car (Lada 1300) has a really bad vibrating while starting: the engine mounting brackets are (i think its the factory one :/ ) very old. It moves about 10 cm while starting! :0

I would say a mixture of oil and coolant. Likely an oil cooler leaking in the radiator. Or a blown head gasket.
