Deeper dive on the technical skills of a CSM. How to land a high paying CSM interview. Tips on CSM interviews. Would love to see more info like that!

Currently working as Client relations Manager for a manufacturing company. Managing a team of 6, sales of all our 2nd grade material, handling escalated customer issues, handling all production planning for orders, I'm the middle point between sales and every department. I have interviewed for 3 CSM job's and ended up being the 2nd/3rd option in each from the feedback given due to not having direct experience. 1) Do you think I already have the experience and should keep applying? 2) Any thoughts on things I can do to stand out without the direct experience?

Hi RoofCollapse, This is a good question. I have been thinking about it since I saw your comment yesterday. I would need a bit more information to be 100% sure, but to me it sounds like you should keep applying. I would recommend highlighting your client facing experience first and for most. Being a CSM is all most entirely about customer interactions, so lead with any projects you have collaborated on with your customers, any examples of specific problems you have solved with your clients, and tough conversations you have had with your customers leading to better results. From there, I would spotlight your sales success or results, even just interactions and how you solve your customer's issue through sales and how your sales results lead to results for your customers. As far as things you can do to stand out, we have a follow up video called "5 Skills to get you hired as a CSM" You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--KTAtTu6m-s.html The key points I cover in that video are 1. Sales Skills or Technical Skills 2. Customer Obsession 3. Data 4. Coaching, Trainings, and Presentations 5. Navigating High Level Conversations If you can focus on these skills, employers should definitely respond. Hello! Thank you for commenting! Unfortunately, we are currently only working in the Tokyo area. I wish I could recommend agencies, but I am not familiar with how the market operates. Hello, thanks for your question! Customer Service or Customer Support, generally will be focused on responding to the issues that customers are facing on an individual level. They are more reactive compared to the customer success manager, who is more proactively preventing issues and reaching out to the customers they are working with. Companies can use the titles interchangeably, but there are differences between the roles. Customer service manager will either be managing a team of customer service representatives that are responding to the customer's issues. Customer Success Manager is a person who is proactively engaging with the customer to make sure that they are not encountering the problems that would lead to them needing a Customer Service rep. Customer Relationship Manager doesn't have the technical aspects of a CSM. Hope this helps! -bryan

Hi Nicolas, Thank you for the question! I am hesitant to give exact figures because the market changes frequently. All so we are based in Tokyo, so my salary information is only on that market. From my experience the CSM role pays between 9m JPY ~ 14m JPY Hope this helps!
