experience on a whole other level. having the knowledge, you do to know how these flats are wired and likely routes of containment is a massive advantage. non-invasive occupational rewiring is an art on its own.
Nice video, good to see a new upload of yours. I wonder how long that issue has been there potentially, the meter in the cupboard appears to have been there a long while judging by what appears to be a "Y2K" compliant sticker. You might have been the first electrician to look at the wiring of the house in sometime.
To be honest it wasn't that difficult really. I've done this type of thing many times I have a sense of when thing will go wrong, I can tell from the feel of the pull.
You should've moved that socket backbox a bit deeper as the kopex adaptor is sitting now to close to the front surface and doesn't allow to fit tiles back to the wall.
Great video again, showing realworld problems the jobbing spark has to deal with, including the new one 'customer is on a call' yes the 2020s video conference call - cant switch off the internet/power ,can't disturb them cos their work is more important than your work.😂😂😂
I really wish the UK did more containment over clipping, that investment when the property was built saved the customer thousands in ripping/disposal and making good! Real shame they didn't continue that work ethic when the kitchen was refitted. Always good to see your approach on these jobs!
Hi David. Yes good experience working in council dwellings helps. Also in the seventies I worked on many estate when they were been built. This particular block was before my time but same principal.
Yep and I’m sure they’ll be a 3rd visit when the washing machine loosens the screws again on the socket that should have been relocated under the sink.
You should team up with the people who wrote the Electrician Simulator video game (Take IT Studio!) - all your experiences could help make the game much more interesting.
Only thing that I dislike is tape on the copex. Would have got a 20mm Conlock adapter with one side having the threads for the copex gland to screw into. Very lucky with that cable pull haha😂
You do so much to help people Delroy. Really nice to see an honest tradesman doing these little jobs that potentially become much more serious if left. So many people living in sub-standard homes with amateurish electrical work - it’s a national disgrace.
Nice one Del I like your videos and you are a really nice guy but what is with those gloves you wear they want throwing in the bin anyway keep up the good work
For a minute then when she said there’s a noise in the wall then the washing machine goes off it’s tripping I thought that was a water pipe in that zone 🙈😂😂😂
You done well pulling them singles through Del I used to use a bit of fairy liquid to help on tight pulls. Glad you decided to use stranded singles in conduit much more flexible on the bends the correct cable for full conduit install.
On that first job - what made you think the sockets needed replacing? Also why do you think the wires melted? You could see both were spurs - did you trace them back to the ring? If the spur was using high power appliances then they will blow again. Sure you helped the customer out today but tomorrow she could easily have the same issues because you really did not diagnose what caused the issue. Poor show really.
Obviously I wrote my comment before your second visit - like I said you did a poor job diagnosing the issue and I was only wrong by one day - 2 days later you are back on the same job. I certainly would not let you near my house..... Also I was going to say that double socket was something like a chrome Chelsea flat plate which they stop selling due to new EU regulations and you swapped it out for a cheap white plastic one.... a proper decent guy would have gone to the shop and bought a like for like replacement.... you down graded her kitchen great job.
I'm happy to see you again! I'd hire you in a heartbeat. I'm glad at least they had a pipe in the wall and didn't just plaster it in 😂😂😂 the people who did our extension just plastered the wires into the wall......yes I've drilled through them twice 😂 makes lovely blue sparks and wakes you up 😂
What was with _pleasuring_ the cable? 😲Did you have some talcum powder on the scrap plastic and you were transferring the talc to make the cables more slippery? 🤷♂ Are you able to share with us how long your cable pull took? She was quite concerned about the price and I have no idea what it costs for a sparky in UK. Hell, I don't know what it cost for one in Oz now. It used to be 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱. I have to go and watch your older videos as the last one I remember was just after your van got done over by those basturds. I hope you are recovering from that setback. *Thank You* for the video. 👍
This type of job is what I call Kenny the Kitchen fitter or Willie the DIY Job. In Scotland they are trying to license electricians where they should be clamping down on kitchen and bathroom fitters who fancy themselves as sparks. I had to condemn a £40,000 kitchen and bathroom refurb customer said how did you know an electrician was not involved before you even looked at the job. Easy I replied I spotted the old fuseboard above the front door , an electrician is obliged to fit a new safety consumer unit. One other point is the kitchen and bathroom fitters are not insured for electrical work so are personally responsible for any problems
Kitchen fitters… I’ve …. like you have seen the shit work they do… where are the regs, building control etc now… Oh sorry they’re grabbing our money! Glad I’m getting to the point of retirement!
Nice work. On the subject of builders and electrics. The wife has decided she wants a new worktops in the kitchen. So I was doing a rekky on the kitchen, I can’t even get the induction hob out as I don’t know where the supply cable terminates. It drops through a hole in the bottom of a cupboard and goes behind the units, I can’t even see the cable when I remove the kick boards. So now it’s looking like a full on unit strip out to find the cable. . This house was built in 2016 !! Surely they would have had the cable terminate in an accessible place underneath the hob , like behind the pan draw 🤷🏻
Will arcing or loose cables always make a noise? I ask because there is junction boxes under my floorboards and I do worry sometimes if that connection came loose how would I know ?
how the feck did you get that to pull so easy ,it must have at least three right angles in that tube ,i literally sat here thinking hes mad that aint never gonna pull thru there ,given that its old tube and probably rusted right up inside ,ive had straight runs rusted tight and not move before kudos to you
Nice job Delroy, good honest work we keep you busy forever. I remember doing those conduit estates, they would sometimes rust in the middle, snapping your draw wire off!
