Commenting again for the lavenders; try to use complementary colored paper to show off the colors on camera to create more of a contrast ! Lavender = yellow paper, reds = greens paper and vice versa
I've tried this with my lavender babies and so far it didn't really help...maybe I'll try again. LED or natural sunlight seem to help a little 😊 I posted some pictures on Instagram 😊
WHOA!! While I wasn't the kind viewer who sent the 3d printed rock caves, I'm the person who designed it!! Awesome babies and awesome seeing that design out in the wild!! :D
This is seriously a gift today. I had to put my chameleon down this weekend due to cancer. I've been trying to hold it together so I can work and thought "I really need a hognose hatch video from Snake Discovery to cheer me up". Log in and here we are, a new hatch video. Thank you for your clairvoyant releases, Snake Discovery. It's like getting a big hug in video form.
Just have to remember that "50% chance of" doesn't mean 50% of the clutch will be that morph. It means that each individual egg has a 50% chance of being that morph. If I flip 4 coins and they all land on 'heads', that doesn't mean the 5th coin has a higher chance of being tails - it still has a 50-50 chance
I believe that is the crutch of what's called "Gambler's Folly", where gamblers will keep trying during a losing streak because "this next one HAS to have a higher chance of being a win after all those losses!" It doesn't work that way, lol, glad to see someone else who's familiar with the way odds like this "work"!
The first was a PERFECT super Conda. Pure black belly, perfect walls, beautiful stripe, and so docile (compared to most hogs lol) Perfect perfect perfect baby 💚💚💚💚
That conda with the bright orange stripe down its back is absolutely gorgeous. Will be interesting to see in a few years if 1. The stripe stays and 2. It’s a breedable pattern if you guys decide to breed that one. Love the babies!
@@weirdparrot5589 I wonder if the super with the stripe has genes that make it more likely to have the stripe despite being super conda, or if it's just chance how the genes were expressed?
Didn't they already do a similar test with Stripey? They proved that his stripe wasn't passable to his offspring, so I'd assume it'd be the same thing here. Who knows though.
If you're keeping the conda with the stripe (18:00) , you should get one of Justin Mitcham's (extremehogs) painted stripe hoggies! According to him it's a polygenic trait, so not exactly a single gene that causes it, but through selective breeding you could really bring that out
Can we all just collectively agree we love the egg hatching videos and this year's babies have been the cutest. edit: my apologizes let me correct my statement "all babies from every year are sooo cute I would love to hold one one them someday"
@@victorianicholls3991 did they strike or was it just flattening out/cheek puffing or hissing? 🤔 I must've missed it. Most of the time much or all of the litter have no problems airing their grievances in grumpy snake language! 😂
So we watched this video, then my almost-4-year-old went and dumped out one of her clear toy tubs. She insisted I come over and see her baby snakes. She explained to me how she was cutting open the eggs to help them hatch. She specifically said she had a few patternless snakes (😆) and a few "empty" eggs. Still not entirely sure how we ended up with imaginary bull snake babies, but it was very adorable and hilariously specific in her pretending to be Emily! Love it!
@@mei4069 thanks! She doesn't have one yet, i always wait a bit before I give a new spider or snake a name. Worked really well with my green bottle blue tarantula: it lost a leg which was, when it regrew much smaller. So I called it Nemo because he had a smaller floss too.
@@mei4069 my parents used to have several invertebrates and reptiles so I grew up with it. I always feel very sorry for the people that don't have those opportunities.
I love this channel so much , constantly checing on new videos that came out, or rewatch older videos. Great Job Emily and Ed, you both are such an inspiration and have the best personality. Wish I can meet you one day.
Get them to participate in the next Animal Con USA. Met so many RU-vid influencers like Dav Kaufman, Adam Wicken, Kevin McCurley, Paul Cuffaro. Blake’s Exotic Animal Ranch, Dingo Dinkelman and so many more!
Babies babies babies! I love baby season, it's always delightful! Fun fact: This is my third baby season, and I still don't know how to determine if a snake is male or female haha!
@@flickerr1 the trouble is that there are exceptions, I think they've mentioned that sometimes they'll find long tailed females (I have a hognose that is probably a long tailed female). Probing is sometimes the only way to be sure.
2 years later but... Boys get the long tail (the part of the snake what starts after the cloaca) bc they get the hemipenes. That is also why boys have a bulge, and girls "taper" soon after the cloaca- need room for the hemipenes.
I am just here casually doing 'exposure therapy' on myself, cause I have a massive phobia for snakes (ironic since I live in Africa lol) but I am trying to get rid of my fear, even if it means looking at videos even if it makes me gag, but I just love how you're so excited and cool with them, a blind man can clearly see you really love what you are doing and I love it so I just had to subscribe 😁
You guys may not have gotten the odds on supers but you got that pretty conda. Hope she makes really pretty babies someday. And I looove the lavenders. If I ever get a snake I'd want a lavender. Maybe someday when those are breeding I'll be in a place I could have one. They all look so pretty.
Why is nobody talking about the first baby he/she is GORGEOUS! It is such a high quality conda and those dark colors are *chef’s kiss* You can tell just by the one baby how well it’s parents are taken care of, and how they have amazing genes.
The first hatched super conda is probably a strong baby! Usually the normal one hatch first.. if this super conda is a girl, she’s gonna be a great mama for sure!
Emily: “ oh look at this cute little hognose snake, yes I am very intimiated” Cute little hognose snake: “ good, because I am pure evil, ssssss, fear me hooman!”
For my quarantine setups, i do paper towel bottom, add a paper towel cardboard tube and maybe a hide that will get ANOTHER layer of paper towel over top (now is hidden snek), then an open hide + water dish & other essentials.
I'm so excited to see more hognose babies! My state requires a permit to keep hognose snakes that I learned Sunday at the local reptile expo. Gotta get a permit for next year when I visit the Tinley show.
@@captainleonox3818 because they are venomous, they just don’t have a potent enough venom to cause harm to people. The only people who are at risk are people who are allergic to hognose snakes.
Wow, seeing the shed is absolutely amazing, the superconda was so dark when he first came out and he looked almost yellow when he shed. Could you guys do a time-lapse of a snake shedding?
Yay, more baby hognoses. I kinda wished I hadn't taken a nap but oh well. A superconda just...sitting is kinda funny. they are all so cute and of course. Leave it to some hognoses to automatically burrow
I started watching while on maternity leave with my first and now I’m watching with my next. The first loves snakes now so I wonder if the new one will feel the same
Re-watching again! Double the pleasure, Double the fun... with hoggies!! Love those head stamps and boop-able snoots! Also, your animals have the best names!
love seeing the babies hatch! and i've learned so much about snakes since i started watching this channel. not to mention i share you excitement when they hatch and see the different patterns and morphs :)
This channel is literally the best. I've been watching for years and it's so cool seeing the channel grow. (And through all these years she still hasnt changed her attitude about baby snakes! lol)
Your videos make me realize that even though I want a snake, I am by no means capable of properly caring for one. So I must live vicariously through your videos.
The Baby lavender hogs look so good!!!And I think a really cute name for the striped hog is roadrunner I would LOVE if you can name that one roadruner.
I dont remember the name of the guy who first suggested this in the video of you guys putting her eggs in incubation, but since you held back one of her babies, name it unscrambled
I've been watching your channel for like 4 years and when I see the notifications I immediately click them to watch the videos. I love the little babies!!
That explanation of conda being always visible is good to know... and in this case it also means you don't have to deal with any of that "% chance het" stuff.
There were some special-looking ones this year, huh! :D Really makes me smile when Emily does baby-voice for the baby snakes and tickles them and tells them they are very scary. :3
I love that emely's reaction doesn't change over the years in snake eggs edit:supercondas and i was still in elementary when i watched emely/snake discovery i love this channel until now
I’m Landry and I’m six years old I’m about to be seven I only have two more months snake discovery is one of my favorite things to watch. I love animals so so so so so much.🤩
Just love these videos 😍 those tiny hog nose babies are so adorable 😍 and Emily I adore how you talk to them like with your little baby voice hehe 😍 Great video guys 😊 love it 😍
I never had any females in my life when I was baby on up I never had no role models of them but you are the best you guys I look up to you guys and thank you for helping me to understand that snake
