Cuteness Overload! The Babydoll Sheep (lambs) are Here! 

One method I've used to get small, young creatures used to me is to just sit in the enclosure, and let them come up to you. It will take time. But their curiosity will eventually get the better of them. I'm not exactly sure why it works, but I think it's because they interpret a large, tall 'creature' (us) as threatening. Getting down to their level seems to help a lot.

When I saw all those snails, I was wondering if they would be safe for your chickens to eat. And this is what I found on the Internet: "Yes, chickens can eat snails. They are omnivores and will often consume insects, worms, snails, and even small rodents as part of their natural diet. However, it's essential to ensure that the snails are not contaminated with pesticides or other harmful substances before feeding them to chickens."

I didn't realize your homestead was so big. The first few videos I watched were centered around your tiered garden beds and the tomato challenge. I put a chair in my pens and give snacks to new additions. BUT they have to come eat it from my hand or I'll put it down close to me. Of course, they still have their regular food to eat without having to go by me 😅

LOL I have an orphaned bottle baby goat inside right now and when your lambs Baa'd he popped his head up and started talking too! I love sitting on my deck watching our animals! It's such a peaceful place.

I love the 20:45 names Ollie and Otis! If you just sit in the pen, reading a book, or scrolling your phone until they get curious about you, it may help. When they get curious, they'll start coming up and sniffing you. Then, they'll learn to trust you because it's on their terms that they make contact.

Brian, it is good to see you so happy as you and the family welcome the lambs. One of my fondest memories is visiting my Aunt Geney many years ago on their ranch in Gunnison, Colorado. I think I was about nine years old. She gave me a long bottle with a long orange nipple on it and showed me how to feed a little white lamb. Some things you never forget.

Excellent choice. I have sheep. When friends show an interest in introducing sheep into their homestead, I always encourage starting off with two male lambs. Test the waters so to speak and see if sheep are the right fit. If so, bring in a ewe. If not, you will have lamb chops in a few months.

I’m happy your knee is healing up quickly! It’s becoming a happy little farm and makes me smile with warm feelings. I’ve mentioned the movie “The Biggest Little Farm” before, and your snail issue reminded me of it again. At one point they were overwhelmed with snails and figured out to set their ducks loose on the snails. 🦆 🦆 🦆 I highly recommend watching it if you haven’t, it might be very relatable for you guys. Great camera work Emily - getting the sheep out of the car without re injuring his leg would have been impossible without your help. Oh they are SO cute and I love that Bella is sort of familiar to them - that's great; less stress for everyone. And she doesn't seem bothered by them either - hopefully she'll begin to see them as her charges and protecting them. Great name choices too. Hooray for more freedom for Daisy too. And a terrific idea to have them all share the corral in a safe way while they get to know one another. Your little farm is rapidly changing and growing into the vision you designed. And the farm fam is growing along with it. Cow, lambs, chickens, rabbits, cat, dog, and who knows what's next! :D Glad to see your snail population drop though. Oh, the cuteness!!!🥰 I wonder if they would feel safe if they were less exposed, like maybe if they had something to hide behind. Even a hay bale or two might work. I agree that getting down to their level is a great idea. Putting some kind of irresistible treat near you might also help.

Hi Brian. Glad your better. Maybe the lambs will get used to everyone more if when anyone has time they can sit by them and talk to them. I think Ollie and Otis might calm down more. I can see Bella doesn't phase them at all. Like you said they're use to seeing that kind of dog. Now they have to get use to seeing you all.
