I only just met the cat from Stray but I will defend them with my life Buy MY coffee: topofthemornincoffee.com/ Twitter : / jacksepticeye Instagram : / jacksepticeye
Fun Fact: When developing this game, they would put motion capture suits on cats, let them do their cat thing, and record their movements to use in the game. I thought that was pretty cool that they use that much attention to details😁
My favorite part of this is that it isn't crazy where the robots hate humans and killed them off, but instead think of them as their ancestors and miss them so much that they imitated their actions and how they behave.
This game is wild. It was ridiculously popular for exactly a week and then fell off the face of the earth. I have not heard anybody say anything about stray since its month of release.
Probably because it's not that long or intensive a game, so most people just played the whole thing within that week. After that, people still played it, but the hype was kind of over by then so it wasn't really talked about anymore. I played it last week. Still fun
It’s a good game just not AMAZING how some goofy ass people think ( mostly people that own cats ) and there’s so much better games out there that are way better and longer…. I personally loved it though, just wasn’t as long as I wished : ( (I own cats btw)
Stray actually did get a lot of awards and nominations, so I wouldn't say you didn't hear of it anymore. It's more like there weren't a lot of gameplays publicly because the game's not that long, so you couldn't really make it a long play series. Still, it doesn't mean that people weren't playing it a lot privately, if you know what I mean.
That why I don't believe anyone when they say they don't like cats. Give it time, they always will. Even when they say they don't, give it time, they always will.
Try it with a cat being well into its adult years. We did it the gray tabby that owned us was 3 or 4 years old, I think. She would flop to her side and act like her legs were broken. Funny as hell to us humans but to her royal highness, she was plotting our demise.
Lol I thought I had a chance harness training my girl because she is so treat inclined and always wants to go outside, the idea that harness equals treats and access to outside just doesn't connect in her little kitty brain lmao can't even be mad tbh
@@latvia4205because it isn’t natural for them. They don’t enjoy it. It restrains their full free movement, so why even bother going outside. Even good dog owners should only have big dogs who desire to run freely, if they have a lot of property or can take them to places they can run off leash.
They didn't need to. Sean was right. The entire development team have cats. It is in the end credits. There were also four dogs. I wonder if we'll ever get a doggo game like this.
I can sit through horror movies, watching humans get murdered, no problem. But if a cat or dog gets killed, the killer is absolutely reprehensible. No redemption is possible. (Referring to media, not irl obviously)
I love the actions built into this game that serve no function except to amuse cat owners, like being able to scratch things, being able to meow, knocking off the paint cans
Here's a fun little fact about this game, the creators of the game actually use the real cats in motion sensing to create the other cats you can find around the world
My uncle has 6 cats, 1 mom and 5 kittens, I love playing with them so much and grew VERY attached to them. Watching the little kitty fall down and hurt itself made me feel pure sadness
Fun fact: Cats domesticated themselves, unlike dogs which we chose to domesticate. Cats basically did what they always do and decided "I live here now, you will tolerate or love me" and we just let them since they were great vermin control. And here my eldest cat 20+ demands I sherpa her everywhere
Actually wolves also domesticated themselves. They got near our settlements because of the food we trew out and tolerated us more and more. That toleration is something we still see today, they take a lot from us!
"Dogs are the only animals domesticated by hunter-gatherers: all the others were domesticated after farming became widespread. One suggestion is that people domesticated dogs to help them with hunting, while another scenario has wolves scavenging human waste dumps and becoming accustomed to people." the world is not black and white , you are both correct .
It's more like we think we own and have domesticated the cat but in fact the cats own us and they have trained us to feed shelter and love them on occasion
I love how welcoming the robots were to this cat and Jack just repays them by scratching everything up, knocking everything over, snooping around everyone’s homes, and breaking things. 😂
I love that they strayed from the typical “robot revolution apocalypse” trope by having the robots be a natural next step in evolution while respecting their ancestors, the humans EDIT: is it bad that i didn’t realize i made a “stray” pun until now 🙃
If I weren’t so freaking allergic I certainly would’ve. Unfortunately I’m severely allergic to cats, and also have the absolute worst case of hay fever ever. I hate the fall because that’s when everyone’s lawn dies and even dry lawns make my eyes water. It’s sad because the two animals I love the most are cats and horses. But being around either gives me such bad allergies.😢
@@janellysosa7590 yeah holy shit! Did not expect all of those likes. Perhaps it's just one of those things where people think "yeah, good comment" and don't feel the need to add anything.
I like to think that Sean is actually the cat's thought process, so when he says stuff like "get off me, ya freaks" or "God, I'm smart" it's the cat's inner monologue.
@nieooj gotoy I’ll make your day even better they didn’t just watch cat videos they had a lot of cats in the studio at all times. They even gave them recognition in the credits :)
What I find interesting about cats is that I've heard that they would naturally only meow in their kitten stage to alert their mom, but over the centuries cats have learned to meow to us humans since they've learned that this gains our attention, even though they are adults or elders.
I also heard they modulate their meowing to try to find what will get your attention the fastest, and what the cats find is that a cry similar to a human baby gets peoples' attention VERY quickly. So, if your cats' yowls seem perfectly targeted to get your attention and keep you from paying attention to anything else, well they are.
Also, adult cats mainly meow at humans, seldom to other cats, and another intriguing notion is that cats create a "special and unique cat language specific to their pet human."
If you've ever had cats that live outside, their meow dies over time because they don't really use it when they hunt. My parents' farm kitties for example, they don't meow very loud and it sounds more rigid as though they never use it. They're always able to hunt on their own by killing barn mice and don't really need humans. They only use it when they say hi to us. My cats at home however are pretty vocal and I think it's because in a way, they still live as though they're kittens because I am their mother and they depend on me to get them food vs my parents' farm cats who hunt and do their own thing most of the time. My girl kitty Evie meows very loudly and high pitched like a kitten compared to her brother who has more of an adult developed meow in a lower tone.
Technically in the lore (god I sound like matpat) the humans used those pods that B12 used when they were a scientist to turn into robots and live forever. At least I think they did, if anyone wants to correct me they can.
I love how everyone’s reactions to the cat falling is the same, at least from what I’ve seen. They all scream out for the cat and say no. Even I did and I don’t have a cat
Graphics, sound effects, and details are amazing and unlike most games when walking through grass you just go straight through it but in this game it actually makes the surroundings (like the grass) move asside
Sean at any other game: *humans die a terrible death* Ah, whatever. Sean when cat stumbles: NOOOO! That's it guys I'm not playing this, my heart will stop.
I can so much relate with Jack’s reaction when the poor cat fell. I knew that there was something that’ll go wrong, as soon as Jack made the cat leap to the creaking rusty pipe. To be honest though, I’d hope those fellow cats are doing alright without the main feline protagonist.
@@a51ez besides the point where they will just keep coming backing because that's what the bot is designed to do. If you reply to it, it's just gonna keep plaguing the comment section.
"light from a star warmed our ancestors feet and helped them grow" jack : "oh ok, so the virus came from an asteroid then" the sun : "am I a joke to you?"
If I had a nickel for each time I read something about the sun being responsible for a virus/infection, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
fun fact, cats dont knock things over for fun- theyre trying to get your attention. they likely want something, or just want some time with you in general
I love this because Jack already has a cat and just resonates or compares his to the cat in the game. (Also the enjoyment when the cat does something cute in-game) ❤
Bet ya knew this already Jack, but here's a random cat-fact anyway: Those little "Mrrps" the cat does is called "trilling", and the usually do it as a form of greeting, or an exclamation like "huh?" XD
*accept Jesus Christ today, tomorrow may be too late* .... And this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. {Holy Book of John.}
“It made my eyes all blurry” I feel like this is another attention to detail because outside cats tend to be farsighted, so anything up close becomes blurry
Not true, cats see pretty well even close distances, too close tho and it becomes blurry but that pretty much happens to every forward facing species sight.
i love the detail that when there is a bag over your head the controls get inverted the best way to sell a detail in gaming is through gameplay so thats pretty cool
Jack: “there’s too much to do and it’s frying my brain.” Proceeds to do the main quest before even talking to Momo and get almost all of the notebooks beforehand.
there was once a guy who lived on an island. He managed the lighthouse built on it. Since the man lived alone without company for weeks on end he adopted a cat. This cat is the sole reason this island has no more birds. There was even a species of indigenous birds to the island. So this cat actually caused an entire species to go extent
Its like when people let their house cats go outside and they kill off a lot of native wildlife. Not even to eat it, just because they can. I wish cat owners could understand that and just let their house cats have like. A cat patio or something if they wanna be outside for a bit.
@@rosenrot234 i have a big and buff british Bombay and if i let her out in the wild id fear this mini panther will kill one of the local turkeys or chickens. She always wants out so to get her outside fix i strap her in a harness and we go for a walk
Sean seems to keep forgetting that the cat he was playing as literally came from the 'outside'. That's literally why we want to go there, to take our kitty home to its family 😅
yes!! when he was like "i wonder what the outside looks like" i was like ummm... did you forget we started outside the walls and it was beautiful?? haha
Technically I don't think we were "outside". We were in the interior of the walls between the outside and the robot city. As to whether the cats actually had access to the outside, we don't know.
One of my best buds got this for me for my 22nd birthday, which also marked one month since my first and childhood cat, Gracie, passed away. When I heard the purrs on the loading screen, I started bawling on call with him and my boyfriend because they sound almost exactly like hers. Hold your fur babies close.
eyes don’t sparkle, humans don’t have bioluminescence edit: this is obviously a joke, and you are all dumb. Pretending to be a smartass that doesn’t understand metaphors and common sayings is the joke
I mean, can you blame him? I wouldn’t try either honestly. Somewhat surviving in a non-apocalyptic world, definitely not gonna survive in an apocalyptic world.
As a student studying animation and game design, its so cool seeing games like these and seeing what’s possible. It’s also so incredible hearing jack compliment the designers so much. Makes me so excited for the future :)
Every company ever: Let's make our main character a relatable person so that people sympathize with them and want to protect them BlueTwelve Studio: hold my catnip
the thing i wana know is why is the cat so smart compared to normal cats. i mean it can understand or atleast read english. it knows that if you push on a plank it will fall a certain way so that the cat can pass over and last but not least it knows how batterys work. i mean this is some high level intelect for being a cat!
I love watching people play stray for the first time. It's a game with a lot of love and appreciation of cats. It's super simple, compared to a lot of popular games, but hits hard. I really.. really want another one.
You have to "meow" at the robots, each one of them have different interactions when you meow at them, not really related to the objectives but it's cute.
They have no reason to view them as lesser, or like vain creatures. They don't know about all the prejudice surrounding cats. It makes the interactions very wholesome. ❤️
I'm amazed that Sean managed to even leave the first little area. I was melting under the critical levels of _cute_ from the moment the tabby started playing with the black cat's tail, because _really,_ how can you *_NOT?_*
I love the cozy lights of the first town, it’s so sweet to imagine these robots all forging a sense of community and looking out for one another (and the stray cat they found.)
Cats actually knock things down a lot because they like doing anything that makes people react a lot because they’re curious! That’s why they are so mischievous. They like anything that gets a big reaction, and knocking things down definitely does that.
@@ruthy08 it’s a bot that’s capitalising on the tragic death of a very young, well respected youtuber. Replying to bots makes them more active, i think.
@Sashi yeah I'd just ignore any comments that start with "I'm better than _____" because they're just bots 99% of the time. it's usually a comment about someone who's popular at the time, or the bots are trying to profit off misery/tragedy.
