I must admit, I learn something new in every one of your videos. I didn't even know scrench holders existed. I put a lanyard on mine and hung it from my belt. Now I need a scrench holder for my handle.
You are absolutely correct when you say the XT is not as good. The XT is a proven crank bearing killer. Loggers that cut daily have them converter to OE before they leave the dealership because they know what last and cuts the fastest. Great video thanks for sharing
@@novicelumberjack I just finished putting a 268xp piston in a 2071… it’s a game changer. I had the piston machined into a popup. Running it today at work and I’m very impressed so far.
I'm sure someday I'll be able to run one on my setup to compare. But...here's the straight dealio- I've owned a very good running PM700. They are stellar vintage saws. Really good, ya know. But they cannot even. If you get my drift. Buckin' Billy Ray is great entertainment. But that's all it is man. Entertainment. The old macs are GREAT old saws. But they are still old saws. To match it up with a modern saw is kinda missing the point in my opinion. A PM700 has nice torque and in the cut it probably turns somewhere in the neighborhood of 7,500 rpm. The Cutters Edge is probably turning 10,000 rpm in the cut. It's just two very different saws.
Is the purpose of a firefighting air filter to make the saw cut faster, or provide a quick swap solution for combatting the abrasive fines created by fire? Are we swept up in the super cool lookingness of the thing and overestimating the performance impact?
Not sure why they use it. Would make sense that it is because of an assumption that it will be used in a low oxygen environment and more air flow is better. What I can tell you with 100% certainty is that...yes, yes, yes...I like how it looks! And maybe it adds a touch of performance.
@@novicelumberjack "Cutters Edge exclusive Air Filtration System has 211.4 square inches of surface area, enabling Cutters Edge Fire Rescue Saws to run up to 12 times longer than other saws in the hot, smoky fireground conditions. Filters out particles less than 1 micron in size" from the catalog, doesn't really answer it either way but it was fun to look!
The difference in chips is 100% perspective. They are both running the same bar and chain. I wouldn't go through all this effort just to have the saws unevenly matched.
