This video documents one of our bike rides at "The Monsal Trail", Derbyshire. The cycle route is also known as NCN 680 and is close to many well known tourist destinations such as Bakewell and Buxton. hello just been watching 3 hours of your trips just got an off road mountain bike your films are very help full thank you keep up the good work chris from doncaster

+Chris Takacs Thanks for the comments, we are glad you like the films and find them useful, if you are out Doncaster way you may be able to do a bit of riding on the Trans Pennine Trail or Canal out that way with little effort. Keep an eye on the channel we do a variety of different routes throughout the year.

Hi +Parks91 thanks for the comments, It's a good trail to ride, there are plans to extend it towards Buxton and join up the High Peak, Tissington and Monsal Trails in to a 60 mile circuit, not sure when this will be though :)

Brilliant video, very helpful. I rode this trail yesterday with the kids (pulling them in a trailer) and we enjoyed it so much. Do you know any other cycle road like this one that is trailer friendly? besides rother valley in south yorkshire? thanks a lot.

Hi I am glad you enjoyed the video, Monsal is the flattest one I know of, without gates, Tissington would be good, but there is a section where you would have to let the kids out and walk up and down a ramp. High peak is good but there are some gates here and there. The Manifold trail is nice but towards the turn around point there is a road crossing and steep ramp. There are videos for all three available in our video collection. Hope this helps, Steve

I honestly can not remember the name of it, but I believe it stopped working a few years ago when Google changed its map API. If you are looking to plan routes www.bikehike.co.uk or ridewithgps.com/ are free to use products. Steve

Great video, I just liked and subscribed...I want try this trail, but I would do reverse route as I am from near Manchester, is there a car park at the north west starting point of this trail, thanks, Tom

Thanks for subscribing, there is a car park (Wyedale) which links to the trail, quite close to Buxton just off the A6, Buxton SK17 9TE

Hi Paul, yeah the route back is speeded up at the end, it's just the same route in reverse.

is the main trail suitable for a road bike?

+ste blue (sickboyblue11) Yes you could take a road bike on the main trail, last Sunday (13/03/16) it was a little muddy but nothing too bad. Take some lights if you have them so others can see you speeding along through the tunnels. Steve

Rode this today. I do wish cyclists would not travel 2 abreast on this route. It is wide enough for 3 cycles but passing within a few feet at a relative speed of 30 mph not great. Why make things risky? Also the cycle hire shop did not provide front lights and I agree having these in the tunnels would have been better.

I always recommend that people take lights when they have their own equipment, maybe it is something that the hire shops could take in to account in the future. The trail can get busy at times and cyclist should always be aware they will need to slow down in some situations. Cheers for the comments Alan.
