Madelyn's life was a tragedy used as an unwilling puppet, had a baby and was forced to give him up to protect him, tried to lead a normal life in Genosha only for it to end like it did.
I want for Maddy to be the consciousness of the real Jean Grey with Jean being Phoenix and maybe they'll recombine in the last part. I felt so bad for Maddy this season. I want for her to get closure with Cable. The mother's love part in episode 3 was really moving.
Watching Cyclops lose the woman he loves 3 times (Jean, Madelyne, Jean again) and his baby son is crazy. They're stripping him down. Putting him through more than anyone can take. He's gonna be different.
@@SuperWolsey no not exactly more like Emma know what Maddie was feeling via telepathy. With that being said In Emma Fashion. My guess is that she will use what she learn to manipulate Scott by saying all the right things to him.
@@Amari-Banks I doubt they'll do the Emma/Scott relationship, but I can see a redemption arc for Emma and her becoming a schoolteacher (which she doesn't seem to be in this version yet).
I was really warming up to Maddy. The tragic case of how the clone did nothing wrong. She didn't asked to be made and be given a warped life. Oh Mr Sinister, your such an asshole.
@@kirstenrox234 The Phoenix recreated her body shortly after and asked everyone (The X-Men) to trade their lives for hers to bring her back to life. So technically there was a body.
@diomarius7445 in the comics, she what jubilee is in the animated series. A total badass and she dates a teenage Spiderman, so that could happen since he's alone and single
She needs to go into the Underworld, to make a deal, and turns in the big menace called The Goblin Queen. Like Gambit, they need to make that journey, to explore new layers of themselves.
@@LosMSR I doubt were doing that storyline, it was basically already covered in episode 3, she even referred to herself as the goblin queen. Theres no body, and in media if you dont see a body they arent dead. Magneto is a prime example of this fact.
Maddy became my favorite in X-Men 97 for the stuff she went through. Having to give birth under such trying circumstances only to lose her identity, go through a crisis with style but find a way through with the love of her baby, lose the baby, and lose Scott. Only to pick herself up and help at Genosha? It's a resilience that is respectable. I felt the most bad for her and Remy for having been the season's punching bags. I would love if Maddy got to reunite with Cable for longer than that brief moment at the party.
Emma: I’ve always done well under pressure. Beast: Emma, please. You’ve been trapped under rubble for days without food or water. Now’s not the time to waste your energy on jokes. Emma: Honey, I’m Emma Frost. When you’re as fabulous as me, you make time. *BLEH* *Emma passes out*
Can we take a moment to appreciate X-Men '97 keeping all the complexity of the Jean/Scott/Madelyn/Logan/Emma mess while writing it well and with understandable motivations for everyone? It's a beautiful magic trick that redeems decades of comic book lore.
Not a fan of people saying a very very abbreviated take from an animated series "replaces and fixes" decades of comic stories. It's fine if you prefer it but it doesn't take away from what's already out there (which to me IS better especially if you understand the reasons writers did it how they did)
@@alexanderplatypus3664 I said "redeems" not "replaces and fixes." Never mind the writers' reasons. Do you approve of Scott's reasons for abandoning Madelyne and Christopher when he found out Jean was alive? Didn't fit with his character in my opinion.
The cartoon has ALWAYS taken the stories from the comics then made them less clunky and more fresh. I do kind of hope that they don't make Scott/Emma feel forced. Scott and Maddy has my heart in 97, they had such a rough time. I want them to be happy together.
Sebastian Shaw's body was shown near the end of Episode 5 just after Nightcrawler saves Rogue and Magneto. He's dead. Which I still can't believe he'd go down easily like that since Shaw is a very formidable mutant who's able to absorb energy and explosive blasts.
Madelyne's death is making me think they wont erase what happened in Genosha, kinda feels like she needs to stay dead in order for Cyclops and Jean's progression to continue
0:46 I noted something interesting there. When Scott was talking about how complicated their problems were and how things were different because of it, Jean quickly changed it to her past problems, dying in the shuttle and the Phoenix. For her this may seem like nothing, but for Scott it's much harder. Jean seems to be focusing only on her pain and not on Scott's. True she had it harder, but it doesn't mean that Scott can't be hurt. He went through so much already and now he has the loss of his son and the possible death of Madelyn as well, the mother of his child. We shouldn't ignores someone's pain because we went through something worse, we should accept what they are going through and be there for them to help them through the hard times and wish them the best.
Yeah it's getting kind of annoying how "real Jean" keeps bringing up how hard she's had it and what SHE had to give up "Whole galaxies beckonned me Scott!""I was the Phoenix, remember!" "Hey what's for dinner? Pho with a side of Enix?" Really shows how Maddie was more humble and caring with Scott and the team
I don’t think she was “ignoring” his pain or making it about her own pain. She spoke about her past in order to relay how she has also gone through trauma. Empathy. That’s what she’s was doing, being empathetic. Some of you guys lack emotional intelligence, and can’t tell when someone is trying to console someone.
She wiped his tears after he saw it was Madelyn. Not a bad situation for Scott to be in to know your baby moms is dead but have a clone to console you immediately.
Even with these short clips Emma is stealing the show from the girls!!! Yass!! I really like Madelyn in this show. She's a competent fighter, gave us the Jean rage but went her own way and was an overall decent mom. She's also way more independent and laid back than Jean who is getting on my last nerve by how often she brings up the Phoenix...its literally every episode and it was NOT the time for that today.
Depends on where they are heading. In the comics, Cyclops had a psychic affair with Emma Frost, resulting in breaking up with Jean Gray. Odds are they will replicate that again, though I wish they wouldn't.
Just noticed a continuity error. Beast teleported from on the ground looking up at Emma, to by her side looking down at her. Maybe there was a slight time jump but they should have at least showed him moving toward her direction like the rescue workers did
I think it's weird how jean use telekinesis on emma cause emma in diamond form is immune to all psychic powers including her own. And it has never worked on her in thr comics ..but I'll let this slide
@@wallisvictor9688 technically, with the made up powers of telekinesis, and this is Jean Gray here, she could literally grab the air and use it to lift and move Frost without the powers touching her. Without the air dispersing or whatever.
I like to imagine she knew she was going to be the focus of a crowd of people and put on some lipstick. The White Queen may have survived a disaster, but that doesn't mean she has to LOOK like one!
I do wonder if Selene will make an appearance to ressurrect the fallen of Genosha so she could consume their spiritual energy like the comic run events of Necrosha.
Beau de Mayo confirmed she was killed - vaporised in the attack. Furthermore, Cable’s tried to save his mother several times with time travel, and literally watched her die in front of him. She’s dead.
@@bryanthomas4907 its physically impossible for him to just die like that considering him absorbing all that kinetic energy and then blasting it back out. This is why sentinels beating mutants with godly mutations doesn't make sense. all sentinels can do is blast lasers and punch their enemies with their metal hands. how the hell did the humans in that era invented so many mutant killing machines that actually worked? it still blows my mind. this is why I liked the MCU version of Ultron. in the comics he's this unstoppable terminator ultra nightmare robot that eradicated the human race but in the cinematic universe. he's just a carbon copy of ironman with the power of the internet. that's it. that's why he lost in AoU there wasn't anything realistically impressive about him other than his infinite access to the internet.
Debris is no energy...is a physical thing...he probably could have survived a direct blast from the sentinel, however he was buried under the falling debris
From the marvel wiki, which maybe is not a canon source but they tell this "Shaw can also be defeated if an opponent focuses on simply immobilizing him without striking him with significant force, or if something heavy falls on him, for though he can sap the kinetic falling energy, the weight of the object could still crush him unless he is strong enough to lift/stop it."
@@Mrempoleon100Let me correct you here, dear friend. His powers don't work only when he is immobilzed. That is why he was killed in the movie by a speeding coin. Charles had immobilzed him. All that debris falling on him will make him super strong. He absorbs hits basically and gains strength and durability. That is his thing making him quite formidable for the X Men.But he was killed off here just like Darwin was killed in that movie, by a writer's choice😂.
@@arc7375 the anger over a show we are supposed to enjoy. Lol I mean she is running with the brotherhood in the intro but okay. Strange hill to die on, you don’t have superpowers bro..🥳🍆🙌
I feel like Ian Malcom in Jurassic Park wondering where the Dinosaurs are on the tour, “yes, hello? You do intend to have superheroes in your superhero show, yes?”
Yeah this clip title isn't what actually happened: "Cyclops learns Madelyne is dead" - we didn't confirm anything. And showrunners said Magneto was dead.
I think this scene was built aiming the "drama" and the portrait of genocides/massacres survivors wich make it so important and emotional. Btw Emma is virtually immortal in diamond form, she doesn't need to eat, drink, breath, dosen't get tired and dont get old, also has superhuman strength and telepathic immunity. In the comics she was trying to save her student and come out the rubbles holding her corpse but dosen't rly give the survivors vibe u know
This is not entirely accurate. That diamond form has a weakness. A silver bullet once hit her, pierced the diamond form and shattered it completely. Jean Grey telekinetically put the pieces back together while telepathically storing her mind until her body is put back together.
@@hcbabyssian8936 It was a diamond bullet and Emma's mind still lived inside the diamond, thats the reason Beast was piking up her shards, Jean/Phoenix tk holded and put her together bringing her back. A similar thing happened when she lost her arm after a Celestial attacked her, later it was put back again in diamond form. What I was saiyng is that she is virtually immortal in her diamond form, not indestructible. In some stories set in a far future, she is still alive in diamond form for those reasons I've mentioned. However the point is that the show made an incredible job portraiting the emotional moment of hope from finding a survivor after a horrible event
@@NekoBruxD thank you for correcting him!! He had me laugh so hard when he said a silver bullet shattered her shows he may have skimmed over the comics & not read it in detail 😂
Now, I know that Pryer’s a bad doppelgänger and everything, but even SHE Didn’t deserve the fate that befell everyone from Episode 5 and all. Well, at least Emma’s was literally tough enough to survive the horrible onslaught. That’s gotta mean something, at least!
I appreciate the new voice actress for Jean but the original voice actress is one of the best, if not the best, VO actress I’ve ever heard of all times. The way she can switch her tone to dark Phoenix and being dramatic when she’s in distress. This one is too calm.
Watching these new series these new episodes of X-Men 97 The way the storyline is progressed how it has evolved you see these intense moments, it's almost just as intense as when you would sit down and watch Kill Bill Vol 1 one at the cartoons sections.
So was Emma just fluctuating her diamond form or did it appear just as Jean got her out? (due to the flash which I presume is her transforming into her diamond form) I'm only asking because if she was in her diamond form, there would be no way that Jean could have detected her if she was in it since her diamond form shields her from any form of telepathy. But I'm pretty sure it just happen to be a coincidence that she wasnt in her Diamond Form when Jean was around 😅
@@Bmhtsos18 Yeah but, if Scott found out. He could take it the wrong way and possibly start dating Emma Frost because he’s under the assumption that Jean is making out with Logan.
@@Nocturne22 X-Men is basically just the superhero version of one of those reality tv shows where people start to get at each other's throats due to whose sleeping with who. We've all seen Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean and Goblin Queen as well as Gambit, Rogue and Magneto. Thank god Julibee and Sunspot are involved in this drama.
Jean is the most powerful telepath in Marvel. She’s an omega level mutant, and the host of the Phoenix force, so I’m sure she’d have no trouble penetrating Emma’s mind through her diamond form.
I guess Emma could have switched back to her human form to call for help if her body wasn't under a lot of pressure in there. But Emma also doesn't have to breathe in her diamond form so her coughing here was a mistake too. I read somewhere that Beau DeMayo dislikes Emma Frost and blames her for the downfall of Cyclops and it shows; he clearly doesn't even know the character or her powers well enough to make those judgements, if he did he would have probably liked her more cause she has been one of the most compelling X-Men characters in the comics in the past few years.
Secondary powers X the evolution of Earth's X-Men generation next is a prediction of a very strong-minded telepathy and future soldier Called Cable of course the future is as predictable when some other elements are involved in a sinister way to alter the gen poll or affect one key feature. Mr Sinister is always in the shadows of the present to give himself an advantage over evolution. He originally was a hence man for Apocalypse but took the opportunity to be someone who thought he was brilliant and smarter than his creator Apocalypse, but it will be more likely to be a clash of interests and the result is ongoing. Sinister. Vs Apocalypse wars are inevitable when eventually there is one master. Cassandra X might play a huge role in this re-imagination as well ?
