CZ 457 LRP - Eley Semi-auto 22LR Benchrest Precision - 50 yard ammo test
In this video I will test Eley Semi-auto 22LR Benchrest Precision, 22 long rifle rimfire ammunition to see how well this ammo performs in my CZ 457 LRP. I have installed a flat blade Timney CZ 457 precision Trigger and an IBI barrel.
The test will be compressed of 40 shots in total all fired from the prone at 50 yards. I will be recording shot data including (SD, ES, Highest, and lowest velocities, as well as the average velocity) of the ammunition tested. every test begins with 20 fouling shots from a clean barrel bore, followed by 4 - 5 shot groups
parts used: Timney trigger, amazon arch rail custom fit, Bipod Factory Carbon Fiber BIPOD, Vortex Precision Rings, Vortex Razor HD GEN I, IBI International Barrels Inc. Schnooble 22in.

Nothing better than watching precision shooting at work. It`s relaxing for a shooter and I don`t have to get out in the heat.

😓😄 I'm in the middle of converting my two car garage into a master bedroom and here in Florida it was 93 today with low humidity 70%. 84 would be like air conditioning. Great video!

That ammo shoots lights out in my factory 10/22 target lite 16”. I’m sticking with SK yellow/red/brown for the 457, it does very well with that ammo and I have a lot of it 😊 I don’t like 100 degree weather either!

I have the 457 MTR and it shoots SK pretty well, but it shoots Norma/RWS even better. So does my Bergara. Eley does ok in the CZ but is terrible in the Bergara. Worse than even bulk box Winchester. Unfortunately, I have a lot of Eley but none of my precision rifles really like it. Tried any of the Norma/RWS in yours?

@@fishcars8078 I have since let the 10/22 go and run my 457 LRP for matches. I does prefer RWS/Norma but I don’t have very much of that ammo. I’m fairly stocked up on SK of multiple types.

everything i can find suggests it’s the same.. fair bit cheaper though! got on sale for $16 a box. shot good! just as good as SK RM and SK LRM. to be fair though my gun likes SK more than eley

Advice from a long time shooter/sniper. Let the sweat roll. When it gets in your eyes then blink it out. Competitions don’t give you time to wipe your brow when shooting. You may want to use and get used to a sweat band.

You can take that standard 457 to a decent gunsmith. They can adjust the trigger take up, the reset and adjust the trigger pull to well below 2lbs.

I love SK Rifle Match (Red) and I have a couple bricks of Eley Team that I found shoot the best out of my stock CZ457 Precision Chassis.

Yes, it’s still one of the best. I feel the quality has declined post-Covid though for some reason, it just doesn’t group quite like it used to. I was talking to the guys at the range just yesterday and to a man, they all said the same thing.

Same here. My CZ shoots SK rifle match the best out of everything I’ve tried. Besides Midas + but that’s too expensive and rifle match is really close to it. I’ve tried this same eley benchrest and it didn’t like it. It dosent like any of the eley brand for some reason.

Honestly until the Center x video it was all the way sk. The price per accuracy is way better sk but if ammo was free both of my barrels shot the Center x way more consistently. But like I said in my videos I’m ok with 1 moa accuracy any day and for a fraction on the price I can get that easily from many of the sk selections

As I remarked in one of your other videos... you can't test accuracy with the magneto hanging off the barrel...it will affect the harmonics.... really can't understand why other commenters on here haven't picked up on it!😉

It doesn’t touch the barrel at all I cut it down and made a mount that bolts to the arca rail so there would be no interference with barrel harmonics

Ya I should have trimmed it with one shot ha ha. The rear bag is home made. I bought a sewing machine and learned ho to use it then started making bags and things like that

I would’ve expected better for that kind of money. I bet there’s a 22 out there that would shoot little holes with it. That’s rimfires for you. Mine seems to like 1080-1100 fps for the most part.

Ya I honestly wasn’t fun that day but I had to get a video out and I have a feeling this is going to continue for a months or two but just trying to keep the momentum going. It’s a super busy time of the year for me but I’ll do my best to keep the videos coming consistently. After all consistency is the key to most things

I work in manufacturing in a plant and it gets super hot in there in the summer so I book august off for holidays but it’s kind of a waste because it’s to hot to do anything outside

I don't like this ammo either. It's gummy, or has a sticky lube on it. The Eley Semi-auto "Outlaw" seems to function better than this ammo does, and it also shoots more consistently. As per always, every rifle is different. Just because one type of ammo costs more than another, doesn't mean it's gong to shoot better. My bolt actions like the less expensive "Outlaw" ammo better as well. Also, shooting 5 shot groups, doesn't really tell you much about the accuracy of the rifle and ammo combo. 10 shot groups are much more telling, of how the rifle really shoots.

Yes I agree in my more recent videos I shoot 10 shot groups especially when shooting at 100 and 200. Larger sample size is more likely to represent what you will see and can expect from the rifle ammo combo

Yo man go back and look at the second shot on target #6 it looks like the round hit the target sideways as if the barrel is not stabilizing the freedom pill for some reason. I guess it coul also be the target tearing or angle of the camera also but take a look at it.

Hey buddy! I think it was just the way the target ripped because everything else looked great. I’m going to try it in the ibi barrel but this heat just kills me I’ve been staying inside in the air conditioning lately lol.

That factory barrel don't like eley ammo I have tried it all. I have one 457 that likes standard plus better than any other ammo I really like this rifle better than any of my cz457s . If you keep shooting that factory barrel it will just keep getting better. Your bud Beagleman Ps I personally think that when a barrel gets 2 or 3 thousand rounds through it the better it shoots. That has been my experience.

Sorry you were melting. I do that a good bit down in the SE US. You'd think I'd lose 50 pounds, but it doesn't work that way. Looks like you had fun on the wake board. My wife has my boat out right now at the lake enjoying the summer time fun. So I found it really interesting that the higher priced Benchrest did not do that well. I'm not sure if I have any of this or not. I want to say that I do, but I may be confusing it with the Tenxe because of the red and black box. I would like to see it out of you other barrel to see if there is a difference, but no rush. I just like seeing all the ammo tests that you are doing. I've been doing a little of the same, but given the heat I have not been out to shoot in a couple of weeks now.
