I've never had great experiences with Eley. I don't think it's bad ammo by any means, but I get fairly consistent fliers with even their highest offerings (Match and Tenex) I'm sure some rifles shoot Eley quite well, I've just never owned any that did. I routinely get the best results from Norma/RWS ammo and SK. I've never tried enough Lapua to speak for it, though sometimes I believe SK can be repackaged Lapua. SK and Lapua both are part of Nammo group. Likewise how Norma has RWS head stamps. I recently tested some Eley Club in a Bergara BXR. Group was almost 3" at 50 yards. Switched to cheapo Norma Tac-22. Fired a few fouling rounds and then printed a 0.33" group. Went back to the Eley to try again, and got a 2.25" group. The Ranger and BXR use the same Ruger rotary style mags as well.
I've got a factory stock Ruger 10/22 LVT that will consistently shoot under 1/2 " at 50 yards with Eley Match ,haven't tried that benchrest yet. Thanks for video.
Ya need to invest in a 5x24 scope …especially if you invest in expensive ammo….16 just don’t hack it …your groups suffer. Consistency is important …especially if you score the IBS target, My goal is 240 or better.
I think it is the wax lub they put on the projectile and it just won't shoot in some rifles and the flyers you have to contend with. Oh yeah those boxes are so aggravating good shooting hang in there like watching the shooting yous in the sport. Beagleman
I have this same issue. I have the 457 MTR and I can get a good .3-.4 inch group going and then a sudden flyer to blow it out to 1"+. Every single Eley load that I have tried does this in that rifle. I also have a Bergara that absolutely hates Eley. 2" groups or worse is the norm. Both rifles perform really well with Norma/RWS and SK ammo. Too bad since I have a lot of Eley on hand, but I can use it in other rifles.
I agree. I've personally not had great results with Eley. I'm sure some rifles like it, or it wouldn't have the reputation that it does, unfortunately none of my rifles really seem to prefer it. I get much better results with Norma/RWS and SK ammo.
