CZ527 extended bolt handle Glades Armory

Hey Zrus, not sure if you are aware, but the new CZ527 have been changed (Gen 2). Three major changes. The rear sight is not mounted directly into a grove which is machine into the barrel. Now the blade is held with with a ramp that is screwed to barrel. It is now windage adjustable via the use of two set screws. The front sight is fiber optic and adjustable for elevation. Again, two set screws can be used to elevate and lower the front blade. The reason I am bringing this to your attention is that the changes in the rear sight may effect mounting that scout mount your were in the process of building. Another benefit is that the rear sight can be completely removed for mounting a longer scope without the unsightly groove cut into the barrel. This setup reduces machining costs and is not nearly as robust as the original, but the sights are fully adjustable. Having said that, you may not need to buy the higher front blade when you install the NECG apeture rear sight. Simply elevate the front sight using the set screws. The third modification is the trigger guard. No longer made of steel. It is now aluminum. In addition, they have removed those "wings" at the front of the trigger guard that facilitate guiding the magazine into the well. There have also been some changes to the receiver to reduce milling costs. The left side of the receiver where the "CZ527" is located has a raised center instead of being round. Again, just another way to reduce the costs of manufacturing. It's still a great rifle. As you have stated in the past, the most overlooked rifle on the web. Great accuracy with cheap bulk ammo, superb materials, and excellent quality control. This rifle replaced my stainless Ruger Gunsite scout.

Good to see third-party manufacturers supporting this rifle. Do you know of any third parties that make barrels for this gun to? I would like to get a barrel that is cold hammer-forged AND chrome-lined for the day when the simple Blued Barrel wears out. Yes. I know that will probably be over 5000 rounds later, but I want my grandchildren to be able to still shoot the rifle 120 years from now and a replacement barrel (plus a couple spare extractors and firing pins) would help.

The straight bolt you used your main pointer index finger and the ball bolt you used the middle finger and seemed much faster. IS that on purpose due to the different angles on bolt. I dont drink RedBull before the range because I would be shooting too much ammo:):) Great video brother

After installing the bolt handle and doing the extractor mod, my safety wouldn't engage on a closed bolt. I scratched my head and spent a day trying to figure out if I did something wrong. Turns out the safety locks into the bolt handle and the hole that was drilled wasn't deep/big enough.

Just wanted to let you know that the rear sight on the 7.62 gun is backwards. I don't know if you mentioned it in another video or just wanted to have the knob on the same side as the bolt to keep the other side slick. But i just figured i would mention it. Great videos as always

CZ527 are notorious for being difficult to bolt quickly. If you load the bolt off axis on the closing stroked they can jam up. This was especially true if you had a scope mounted. The scope necessitates having to reposition your hand to clear the scope and she jams up. This was highlighted in one of MAC (Military Arms Channel) videos as well and got a non-recommend from him because of it. I sold mine for this very reason. Regardless of how much I cycled and lubricated, it still would jam up when bolted quickly. Now having said that, I really missed this rifle. You are absolutely right, totally under rated in quality, accuracy, and pricing. So after watching your videos, I took the plunge and picked up another. I took my time in selecting my CZ. I brought some snap caps with me and the clerk was nice enough to let me run them through four different rifles before finding one that was smooth as butter out of the gate. Snapped it up and thanked the clerk who was very patient. Now I am on the lookout for another in 556 to get a matched set much like yourself. Getting back to my question, which of the two bolts handles is best when you are running a scope. I suspect it's the straight bolt handle on the 556 you have demoed. I really like the iteration with the turned back handle and ball knob. Let me know and I will make the order. Thanks for the great videos, you are the best.

Speed shooting? I see the 'mad minute' exercise and wonder, huh? Whereas the history of bolt action rapid fire is rich and meaningful in military application, I utterly fail to see the use with what is essentially a hunting rifle. Five or ten wild shots in the air is far easier with an SKS or AK 47. With all my negativity, I applaud and second the idea of using a 'hasty sling' for offhand shooting. The extra ammo pouches on the butt stock would are better suited on the trouser or utility belt. That aside, I do like the way CZ has made the bolt handle replaceable for reason. I imagine from a design perspective, the handle might be broken and need replacing. The idea of fitting around a telescopic sight is inviting, as the first scope I bought for mine did not work with the bolt. Oops. However, I found a Leopold fixed, low power scope (7.62z39mm at 1000 yards? Not on my watch). With that rifle, I think a 'dog ear' or 'spoon' type bolt would be fitting and look good on the rifle. As long as I'm dreaming how about the same basic stock, in Mannlicher (all the way to the muzzle) fashion? And I rather like the Turkish walnut. I am working on a 150 grain bullet load. It puts the 7.62x39mm into the .30-30 Winchester category. Which is not a monster, but effective in deer and smaller critters. A rifle to be carried a lot and shot only sparingly.
