This song was written about the birth of his son. I think it's one of the most perfect pieces of music I've ever heard. It hits you to the core every time you listen to it.
@@heythere6393 Shalom Greetings Grandrising! That is the reason I tune into deep roots reggae vol1-4, Sugar Minott, Eek a Mouse, Barrington Levy, Fela Kuti, the Isleys Brothers, Teena Marie and other James from back in the day when I was in New Orleans 92 man here. Peace love and light from Las Vegas
D is grossly unappreciated. Right off the top of my head, i cant think of any other recent male artist whose music emotes as much Soul Power as D'angelo's. The music of the last decade has been the most soulless ever.
Anthony Hamilton on the background vocals....you can definitely tell it's him at the very end, with that last harmony run thing they do to close it out
this video does not do justice to how good d'angelo and his band sounded during the voodoo tour back in 2000....band was tiiiiight...singing was on point and d'angelo was much better than i thought he could be...alot of energy....great show when i saw him here in soCal
This song brings back so many memories. I think about the love of my life. He knows who he is... D'Angelo... thank you for giving us such good, loving, strong, music. You are the one of the greatest artist of all times!! They dont make too many like you anymore.. Please come back!!! We need your music!
Saw him do this in concert in Chicago for real I forgot I was on a date!! The luckiest people in the audience were the men cuz we went home with them after he fired us up!! lol
Wow, very well articulated point. A million years from now, if they wanted to find out what "Soul" music was, they'd have to find this song! You're right, this song IS magical, amazingly orchestrated, and performed. This is the new generation's classic soul hit!
i second and third that...plus, the man's a genius, for real. I cant tell you how many talented musicians I've seen go down the same path he went..He's just another artist going through those changes that artists go through...he has my support no matter what...I can only imagine the thoughts that he has...
Could anything be more perfect than this? Just absolute and total perfection and beauty. All of it. All of them. I still feel so emotional when I listen and watch this, just as, if not more than, the first time.
This is soul music at its best. I listen to it often, it has a feel that is lost in today's music. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate all music for what it's trying to get across, but this is magical. Background vocals, hits, blues guitar, horn section, pocket, one word HEAVEN!!!!
I really miss D'Angelo. He is soooo talented. I saw him in concert at The Chicago Theater years ago and it's still the best concert I've ever seen, and I've seen a whole lot of them. COME BACK D'ANGELO. I love you.
As music collector of mostly Metal/Rock with a few other genres...I do appreciate singers/artist like D'Angelo, Donnell Jones, Maxwell...these guys are masters at their craft ...such great vocal control and ability,...just pure artistry.
Oh! Oh! I looove it! Good grief man...where D'Angelo been? I miss that man! What amazing artistry...one of the best of all time, one of the few modern artists who could still hold his own with the giants of the 60s and 70s...He'll be back tho, right! And Maxwell too!
!!! That's what I call mood music. This song is a groove...it speaks to your senses in deep ways and it causes your mind and emotions to be at peace for 5 minutes...stress free zone. ah yess.
D'Angelo is my fav singer im only 16 and his music has captivated the romantic side of my life, with pure soul and raw talent he is one of the greatest singers ever, i just wish that he would come back and give us that great music he brings. Send It On is my fav song ever!!!
If there is a song that is sexier.... I would just like to hear it. my husband can always get lucky.. Come back D'angelo. We need your music. How many times can i get lucky with one song. Bring it back....
D' is a beast, no question. He's amazing talent, just sux when the "life" pulls you so many ways. Wish we all could just stay getting better, not just make it and fall away.
I don't even know what to say. This is a great performance by him on this song. He does such a great job. There is soul just oozing out of this song as he performs. I probably would have just passed out if I was there.
D'Angelo was an R & B neo soul king in his own right..no one can knock R. Kelly and his sound because he brought back a whole new era of swing/r & b but D'Angelo made "ghetto love" a beautiful thing..He was the 90s Jaheim
Im a romanian living in Australia and all i can say is that D'Angelo's Voodoo is the epitome of what i feel african-american music IS. And i love the shit. Pity he stuck in a rut... D'Angelo! Make sum music brother!...
I can't help but thank God for fearless genieses' like 'Stevie' the Wonder boy, who made such an exceptional impact on a lot of today's artists of all genres & with grooves of magnetic influence & a natural aptitude for the field - "send it up, send it thru, send right back to you Stevie" !=]
I have this complete show. This is a EXCELLENT performance recorded 10-20-2000 @ Sao Paulo, Brazil. The video is 117min long pro-shot and hard to find. I bought this dvd from a private collector 3 years ago for $30.00. Worth every penny I spent for this rare Jem. Thanks
maannn... d is one of the best neo soul artist around.. He really brings the musiq 2 a next level. And really let the musiq speak for itself. This inspires me so much that i needweedindeed greetz and with love.... mr campbell
LMAO @ HARDDRIVER73 This happens to be one of my favorite songs of all time. It's arrangement, vocals and lyrics make it the perfect song. You just don't hear soul like this anymore. Have Mercy!
