D Mob introducing Cathy Dennis - C’Mon and Get My Love (Official Music Video) Released 1989 From the album ‘A Little Of This, A Little Bit Of That’ UK Chart Position #15
I have the 12 Inch remix. Now I Kissed A Girl has been the Lesbian Anthem for many years. It was featured on The UK Emmerdale Documentary where Leah Bracknell talked about how her Character Zoe Tate had many girlfriends. She was quite a playa.😊
An industry inside joke (that groove dates back to Russian composer IGOR STRAVINSKY. FAIRLIGHT offered the STRAVINSKY sample from THE FIREBIRD symphony in its demo with that CMI umit that EVERYONE [save probably PRINCE] used for their songs). The right groove has a life of its own. Kids heard it and will remember (considering how pale, emaciated and vapid the "music" is around them now, as no real musical nutrition to it, liken it to fast food)>
@@ronnettnorfleet3626 'early' 90's, for sure. Late 90's? I'm out! :P Pop culture gradually went down the gutter during the mid 90's. If i could blast back, i'd go 87-93
front 242, nitzer ebb, skinny puppy, ministry, Depeche mode, the cure, Frontline assembly, meat beat manifesto, die warzau, lords of acid, camouflage, a split second, red flag.....
oh damn....I didn't know that... I'm a huge Britney fan, but didn't have that little nugget of info...thank you for that because I also always loved Cathy Dennis as a dancer
@@egorzimowski3505 Yes it was, although I personally can't see much resemblance apart from the wailing voice part. Maybe that's what people mean when they talk about it, just that vocal part. The music isn't similar in my opinion.
oh ok... always loved that song... she def should have stayed behind the scene.... cuz her music is great, but those forced dance moves.... I can't....
An absolute 5 tool player. She can dance, she can sing, she can write, she can produce, and she can.....well, look like Cathy Dennis. An incredible woman.
@@Jgeneraledger23It actually is. Alot of folks sang "backup" for a Friend. Sting sang on Money for nothing by dire straits. Michael Jackson sang backup on somebody's watching me. Michael McDonald sang backup on songs for kenny loggins and christopher cross. The supremes sang backup for marvin gaye on you're a wonderful one. 😊
OMG I haven't heard this song in 30 years and killed it over and over when I was a kid 9 and 10 years old in Toronto! Love you Cathy Dennis! I had the EP and would play it sooo much! Ahhh memories..the 80's and 90s were the best music! 😍😍🔥🔥
@@Len1977gt this song was being played on Hip Hop and R&B radio stations in NYC. You can thank the Culture Vultures again for destroying the sound & the House Music genre like always.
Can you imagine the Bank she gets for The Idol Franchise since she created the theme song. Also did you hear about Nigel Lythgoe apparently raping Paula Abdul. If he did that, he should go to jail. Alot of ladies now are acknowedging they were attacked. After what Bill Cosby did, they feel that they are entitled to justice and rightfully so.
I had totally forgotten about Cathy Dennis from my teenage years and came across her videos recently on You Tube. How could I have forgotten Cathy Dennis??? She was absolutely beautiful.
@@rustykate12 lol!!! My two kids said she looked like a dude. And my coworker said she looked like a middle-aged mom. I guess I should reevaluate my definition of attraction.
@@marktroddyn3351Just reevaluate by watching her performance of touch me on top of the pops, she was & still is beautiful. I blame the hair on this one!
I found this song by accident though I'm a millenial. Shame on me but I didn't know who Cathy Dennis was... 😇 Then I read about her life and she's become a very talented producer, too, with some really big hits. It's so intresting to think about that by the time of the making of this video she was before all of that... Literally we're witnessing the birth of a future star here. 😍
When house music was mainstream. Dance tracks were everywhere. Then people became too cool to dance. Just standing around and looking at their phones! SMH!
D-Mob and Cathy Dennis was an amazing awesome team back in the 90's Oh how I miss those early years back then. Clubbing every weekend times where good for me
I'm no doubt abit older at 61 but I'm still on the 70s and 80s early 90s I had a fantastic era of music and listen regular. Today's mumbo jumbo is Just annoying Noise with no heart soul or meaning also stolen lyrics and backing music mixed in from real artists sad but true or am I just old getting old
If i get a time machine I'm going back to try (and probably fail spectacularly) with Cathy Dennis, seriously though she has been amazingly underrated, fantastic voice, great dancer and she's beautiful too.
12 APRIL 2024 ... My first time seeing this video .. I rocked this song back in the day on the USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) and it still has a constant rotation in 2024 in my car in France ... #GOCATHYGETBUSY
She's also very smart when she wrote Hit Records for other folks. Also when her Musical Genre started to wane, she took a page from Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Prince & The Bee Gees writing songs that were hits for other folks. I would love for her to do a Song with Girls Aloud.
Cathy impressed us all when we saw her for the first time performing this very song on TOTP but I was also generally very impressed with the track and its arrangement. Still sounds fresh.
Cathy Dennis and this genre/ time period of music shine a light of positivity during times of uncertainty and darkness. Listen to what makes you happy, want to get up and dance, and motivate you to be your best! Be your best, don't stress! Much love to everyone jamming this right now!
I have the extended version of this song. I was in my 20's in the 1980's. Girlfriend is still going strong and can you imagine how much bank she gets off of the Idol Franchise.
This was the 90s Feel good Feel free Dance clubs I remember hearing this at my favorite night club Excalibur in the 90s yes this night club was pack Good people good atmosphere extremely good drinks and I can't forget the beautiful ladies This was a time that I will never forget in my lifetime.
My ex used to get mad when I watched this when it was on MTV. Of course I thought Cathy was hot! I think she was only 20 in this video. She was quite the pop tart back then.
One of the songs that got me hooked on dance music. I bought everything D-Mob release and subsequently Cathy Dennis tracks. Still an amazing track all these years later.
Pete Waterman said in an interview going over the Rhythm of Love re-issue that when they filed a suit against him he managed to file a counter and claim that they ripped him off and apparently the suit against him was suddenly dropped so....
Master Blaster people are mentioning how Kylie said Better the Devil was inspired by this and I just thought of mentioning how PWL managed to convince the courts that they were the ones who were actually ripped off/ were the source of inspiration for this song when they were sued over the “woah” riff. In reality they kind of were since the song they were alluding to, Roadblock did come out two years before and had a similar “woah” riff. So it was more mentioning how they actually ripped themselves off for Better the Devil and not Cathy and D- Mob.
There is a higher quality video on RU-vid but it's only 3 mins 30 secs instead of 4 mins. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Khbt7Wiigo0.html
she is a giant in the music industry; having written so many hits for other artists... like, big hits. she is AMAZE-BALLS.... such a fan. part of the soundtrack to my life...
Most folks don't know that she went on to have a very successful songwriting career. She wrote the winner's single for more than one X Factor UK finalist. She is definitely more than a pretty face and a good voice.
