D&RGW 491 Test Run 1/8/2022

After some much-needed work on locomotive #491 was completed, 491 was fired up on 1/8/2022 for a test of the work. The work was completed by the Colorado Railroad Museum with some assistance from the Durango & Silverton Railway. This work will help this locomotive be a living piece of history for many more years to come. Thanks to everyone who was involved in completing the work on this locomotive.

Wow, I never realized how to calculate out how fast a steam loco is going until a video by hyce, and when 491 is doing roughly 8 chuffs a second, it's only going around 5 mph.

Yep it did, I believe it got replaced with her original whistle again.

Wow your lucky! I wish I could of seen her! How did you find out about her running? I would like to know if there is a group that specializes on these gals to know when they run!

Test run dates are not released to the public. To find the Colorado Railroad Museum steam schedule and go to their website and look at their calendar.

@@ColoradoRailroadProductions Oh okay. Is there a way I can find out about the dates? Or is it for the engineers to know or volunteers? I have railfan channel and I hope I can get 491 for my next video. Or the others

@@Sonic.Mario.64 not test runs they are purely for staff and volunteers. To find regularly schedule events pulled by 491 check out the museums calendar on their website
