There is only one commercial recording of this wonderful sonata available (it's on RU-vid too, played by Martin Jones). For my taste it is far too polite and straightforward a rendition. I think the work is far more towering and heroic. A kind of blend of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Rienzi. Its enough to have made me offer this frightful mess to the public: today I sat down and bashed my way through it to give some idea of how it could be. Complete with period-inspired arpeggiation and rubato on occasion, this is hugely chock-full of wrong notes and grubby pedalling. I was going for interpretation here. I edited together a couple of the takes for complete failure-moments and page-turns even so! Offered buyer-beware.
Maybe I'll put down more videos of pieces I can actually play next time.
