man for a channel that has such a positive mission and a video with such a positive backstory the comments are so incredibly toxic. As a roadie who is starting to look into mountain biking I thought I was on a road bike channel with the amount of toxic, stuck up comments. I don't understand how people can covet other's possessions to a point of anger. Well let your father know that just watching videos about all the shiny new components come together on his bike has given me tremendous joy, like a nice lego set coming together and that I hope he rides it on far in to the future. Considering the last video he talked about being weary of descents because of his back and wanting to do mostly climbs he might need a road bike in the near future!

I just took delivery of a new bike... a Bird Aeris AM9, cost me £2700 and here's the thing... curiously enough, Tony's dad having a 7k bike has had absolutely zero impact on my own personal life. I still have food in the cupboard, I sleep reasonably well each night, I'm still gainfully employed, there's been no major disasters within the family... and I'm really enjoying my new bike. Everything is just fine. Live your own life, ride your own ride... and be happy. There's a hell of a lot worse things going on in the world than someone riding a more expensive bike than you :)

To all the comments about him buying an expensive bike, who the heck cares, my bike is also expensive and I work very hard to be able to afford it. I don't see it as jealousy but rather skepticism. As we know XC mountain biking is an acquired taste (it's usually hard as hell) and time and time again we hear the story of person buying a sick ass bike and then it just sits in the garage collecting dust.

In the beginning you talked about mental health and riding bikes and I actually got PTSD 2 years ago from hitting a truck while riding my bike I broke my leg really bad and it still isn't the same as it was before. I do just want to say that once I was able to ride my bike again my PTSD stopped effecting me and riding bikes really does help with mental health.

Just started watching your channel because I've been really contemplating starting to bike... Then I heard you're big on mental health and that is the exact reason I wanted to started. Surprisingly I get rather depressed and down in the warmer months and I finally realized it was because in Winter time I snowboard but in spring/summer I dont do anything fun in my spare time. This seemed fun and just the idea of riding got me excited and I dont even have a bike yet. Just want to say I'm glad someone understand the mental health of sports and wish me luck! (Oh, and subscribed!)

All these people complaining about how expensive it is but money is money it doesn’t matter. Skill level doesn’t automatically get you a nice bike. Then all these people saying he won’t ride it judging the crap out of him is wrong. Where all in the mtb community and we should wish the best to everyone in it and wish for everyone to be shredding super sick nice bikes! Me and my dad ride all the time and it’s so fun!

I will agree it is tough at first to wrap your head around the price tag of the bike, to the level of the riders skill... BUT.... We all need to stop focusing on the price. As long as your dad uses it, that is all that matters. How many people commenting could use that bike to its limit anyway regardless of skill. His father could afford it and it if anything it was extremely smart to purchase something he grows INTO, instead of spending money on something he grows OUT OF. All that matters is that he uses it. So like i said on the first video, make sure it does not collect dust, and push him to use it.

Best all around bike is an agressive plus size tire hardtail, very good on climbs/downhills, good for pump tracks and street riding once in a while and all this without breaking the bank

The only thing I would change is to go with XT brakes...they are bombproof and use mineral oil, not brake fluid that can leak and ruin paint. Great job helping your dad get his health and liveliness back!

I think I would have bought him a Focus Jam2 E=bike or something in that class to help push him along if he needs it. This way he can keep up with his younger son without breaking a sweat and at the same time get his workout, But hey that is just me. You both have been blessed and I hope your dad loves his new bike. Forget about price, get him what he wants no matter what. Take him for a test ride on an E-bike. He may change his mind, you never know! BTW-That bike mechanic is top notch! Some of the best I have seen on YT!

Sure thing! Not sure what 'thw' in your comment means, but it is all good! I am over 50 and ride E-bikes exclusively after having a funky back issue. They have changed my life so much and I can keep up with the younger dudes on paved and trail riding. Now the younger dudes are buying them so they have both types of bikes. Enjoy!

$4500 "beginner's bike". I still can't get over it, and I am not jealous, it's just the focking audacity of a bike shop to say some shit like this. They didn't say: "Oh, sir. I think with your health issues you deserve best" FUCK nah....they went "This is a great beginner mountain bike" I would never go to a store like that, this is a store that would jack you for money. Also he said it will only cost $100 for a yearly maintenance of this "beginner bike", and his father was cool with it. My bike is a Specialized Rockhopper Sport, that I spent $499 on, that's an entry bike. Straight criminal. "Worldwide Cyclery - we steal your money like nothing." That should be a motto. I go to a local bike shop that sells Specialized bikes as an authorized retailer, and those dudes were so honest with me, and tried to save all the money I could. This Worldwide Cyclery bullshit is fucking people over I see. I am perplexed how the author of the video made them a fucking superhero. No. You are superhero for buying your dad 4500 bucks worth dual suspension bike. Not these fucks. Anyone can sell you an expensive bike, but not everyone will spend that money on themselves, let alone their dad. My car doesn't even cost that much now.

The start of this video is amazing I e just really got in to this biking stuff and just picked my self up a trials bike but it's my mental health that making me wanna ride I'm in tested as of yet but know I have a strong case for ADHD and been struggling in my adult life with this trying deferent meds none what then I remembered I use to skateboard all the time when I was a kid I'm adult now and skateboarding scares the crap out of me for some reason then I saw video about biking and I've falling in love and it's helps more then any meds I was on for ADHD

I suffer from mental illness and I've got to say, bikes do help me, I'm just wanting a new bike to get me out more to make me more happy. Current bike is ok but I'm not keen on it. Full sus but needs work so I get down about it but then I remember, it's easy to fix.

Hi mate, i love the idea of your channel; i myself struggle with mental health issues and addiction in particular oxycontin which i started taking funny enough after a bike accident that smashed my front teeth even though i had a full face on at the same time busting my neck and back. After that i kinda stopped riding this was 2012 since then my addiction has gotten alot worse, went into rehab but then relapsed im now looking at getting back on a bike get over the fact that im where i am now, get healthy and get on top in the biking world. Love what you are doing keep it up man.

That's what I say. He is not some little kid, I'm sure he knows the value of money. If it is what he likes and is willing to spend that kind of money on a bike, then it's all good. I agree skill has nothing to do with it. Beautiful bike MTB, it's great when a father and son can relate too something that gives them more hang out time. there will come a day when you realize the money was more than worth it. I'm an older dad too, and I love it when my son comes and asks if I want to go out and hit some trails with him. Geat video, I was able to relate too it.

i will , what your email ? now just waiting for the Ernie tool to pound the steerer out !!!!!, tried with a wooden broom stick just went 1/2 way and started to splinter !!!!!!!!!! i had to soak all the SLX components in Vinegar and laundry detergent , with Ultrasonic cleaner to remove the RUST , even ordered Paintless Dent removal kit to pull the dents from the tubing , got used set WTB st i23 wheelset and going to replace rear hub with Novatech and ordered lefty 50 hub for the hybrid 1.0 fork

the shimano BR-M615 were shot !!!! front hose broke no fluid missing the bleed CAP, LEVER bent !!!( i heated the Lever and bent back ( the 615 cannot remove lever ) , rear no fluid did a Reverse Bleed - using Esso Mineral OIL 20w20 seems ok holding Pressure not the correct Viscosity

The Formula Cura is amazing. The only brakes i would choose over it are the magura mt7 or the Trickstuff Diresttissima but those are a lot more expensive.

POLITICS...You are dealing with a lot of people from different backgrounds. It is a nice Personal story about your Dad but if you want to expand your message to reach as many people as you can and truly want to help a a lot of Overweight, Older Dudes then you have to make your message both Practical and Affordable. I don't know where this video ever implied you need a 5,000 dollar bike to get in shape and fit. Just because one rides an expensive bike for this purpose or that purpose or one reason or another, does not mean you have to do it like them. mountain bikes range from 1k to 10k anyway between is a good start. we all have different priorities and different incomes for which we make spending decisions, to each there own.

ok just at no point in the video did he use a wrench like when he did the crank bolt up he just anchored on the bolt with a P handle. Obviously if he did then its all good wasn't trying to call him out or anything its pretty obvious he knew what he was doing just to a high end mechanic seeing all the bolts done up with just allen keys looks a bit amateur. just wanna make sure your dad is safe ive seen stems snap on a 4mm 4 bolt where normally for most manufacturers they should only have 5nm of torque and people just crank them up.
