I think that a good mixture of both. What you did here with the consensus works without the distractor of the comments. But there needs to be a place for whiskey wars during live streams. The witty back and forth is always awesome! The demographic you two have is what keeps us coming back! Great show
Totally agree with the ET choice. Can't find it in NorCal. Was traveling to Idaho and found ONE, yup just one, at an Oregon liquor store. $22 and yes, it's a liter. Great value and taste good. Thanks for what you do. Keep 'em coming
Can't say much about Early Times since I've never seen it near me, but I'd pick WT101. I prefer the flavor profile of Eagle Rare, buts it can't be a daily drinker for me since it's limited
Love you guys! Thanks for the great content during this time. I have a question, not concerning these bottles, but concerning Russell's Reserve Single Barrel. Is there anywhere on the bottle where it says what warehouse the bottles come from? Can you discern if any came from Camp Nelson A or F?
I'm playing catch-up on videos because of business but I will offer this observation: When we voted Early Times was not available where I am in AL so I couldn't vote for it, so I voted for ER. So I think that is what might have happened for some people because I love ER, but Early Times is my new favorite right now! Great video you guys!
Have y'all ever made a video on the best way to enjoy bourbon? What brings out the best in these bottles that y'all talk about? I'm enjoying the channel. Cheers!
Find a cost plus shipping group on the book of faces. Even secondary markets its not marked up above retail more than a couple dollars. For the price keep in mind as well its a liter bottle not a 750ml
I weirdly prefer the other setup for all your actual RU-vid videos. It makes them seem more produced and official rather than casual like the livestreams. Bottom line, I love whatever you guys do wherever you guys do it. Also love how you put the names of the whiskey on the screen so I can take you seriously 😉😂lmao
This set is superior for the more intimate series like Whiskey War and Collector's Corner. Also great video and 4 of my daily bottles. I have blinded the same set previously and came out with the same ranking. Great job as always!
I think this is the first time that I have all of the bourbons being evaluated. Love them all. Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are so good, but also really like the Early Times BiB. Can't go wrong with any of these. I just switch back and forth.
Eagle Rare is a gimmie. So much different from 101 and Trace. Never had Early Time so I cant speak to that. 101 will be a hard oak twang, spice and tobacco bite. Trace to a lesser extent of 101. Now mix them.together with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a cleaned pickel jar. Guzzle it down quicky and try to hide the shame. There you have the "Float of Self Loathing". Enjoy!🤟😃🤟
I'd watch you guys even if you went back outside to the 'rona table and Dan stayed on the wrong side...it's just pure fun. Daily drinkers, Larceny SB, Weller SR, Old Forrester's SB, and Old Ezra 7.
As a blue collar worker providing for my family on a budget, my go to sippers are EW BiB and WT101. Fantastic. Ive had more expensive and cant justify spending the cash for the diminishing returns. I'll also have EW Black for mixing.
Well done guys. I like this style I think I personally prefer the other style just because I feel like I’m more used to it. But either way you guys always put out great videos!
Still like the idea for getting Barrel Raised to make you Whiskey War glasses with the letters on the glass! Also, love the live stream set for these kinds of videos.
Buffalo Trace is thin and the finish tastes and smells like ethanol. I bought a bottle after weeks of searching. Tried it once and put it on the shelf where it still sits.
Time for a glencairn flip into the flight box. Turn the box sideways so that the holes are in a line. Different point values for different hole (a la skeeball)
As much as people will hate. Eagle Rare, atleast my bottle , burnt tires on the nose. Sean nailed it. Edit: so I opened the ER bottle I have. It isn't the nose so much. Nose is pretty good. The taste is ehh... that's where I get burnt tires or dirt. It's like acidic dirt. Very earthy. I guess some people are into that. I see the grape thing you are talking about , but it's like the worst artificial grape I have ever tasted.
Dan, definitely nailed the Backstreet Boys. Felt like i was watching a live concert. I'll add in my opinion on the flight, for what it's worth (absolutely nothing). I enjoy the standard BT. I know it's already low proof, but I like to add a drop of water. Just rounds the edges off just enough. Cheers!
My personal ranking: Old Forester Signature Wild Turkey 101 Knob Creek Small Batch Buffalo Trace Early Times For some reason Early Times taste very young to me.
Reading the comments, is Early Times allocated? Seems a lot of folks can't find it. It's everywhere here in Houston. I bought a bottle a month ago based on all the good things I'd read/heard about it, but I haven't gotten into it yet. Finishing off my Knob Creek and Old Forester 86 first.
Two things: 1, I’m not surprised ET won, but you both described it as grassy and that’s not a good note for me. 2, I was writing my Sunday Funday Review of McKenna 10 last night and got a cherry Creme Saver note on it. Funny we both leaned to the old school candy
I finally found a bottle of Early Times BIB by mistake looking for 1792 single barrel. The owner told me that the distributor has allocated it now and he wouldn't be getting anymore (in OK). Is hording/secondary causing this problem? Or am I not understanding what allocated means?
Early Times BIB was the lowest because it isnt readily available so most of us havent had it and cant have it as a daily drinker..and yes Daniel we have had this conversation before on FB....prefer no mikes in screen seems more like natural interaction between the 2 of you...audio is always fine
No kidding? I’m at that store at least once a week and have never seen it. I’ll def ask about it next time. Only place I’ve seen it is at Gary’s liquor and it’s waaaay marked up. Can order it from Drizly, from Gary’s for $59.99! Get real Gary’s! 😂
Very well done! Sad to say 3 out of 4 of these can be hard to find in many areas. I’ve only seen Eagle Rare once and it was $60. Hard pass. Early Times has limited distribution and Buffalo is getting harder to find. Maybe do another with easy to find stuff? Old Forester Signature, Knob Creek SB, Elijah Craig SB, Evan Williams BiB, Wild Turkey, ect.
All of these can be had for within dollars of retail on secondary. Eagle Rare may be getting a tad touchier, but it also just sits in gas stations around here for long periods of time.
ER sitting on gas station shelves....meanwhile everywhere else it flies off shelves like free candy if it’s priced under $50. Wherever you live, sir, I need to visit.
