I daily drive a 2007 Mustang GT, I’m from Orlando and drove it to Daytona, Clearwater . I got it in December with 183k miles now has 189k original motor trans, even clutch. The title says Pennsylvania , but the car has a sticker from a Canton, Ohio dealership. No Rust stock down to the air box. The only thing I’ve changed is the stock loop spark plugs , to Accel step colder plugs and Sr Performance coil packs. Car gets 25-27 MPG highway and 19.6 city .
These cars are very reliable. I can't say much for yours since it's got over 200k and an engine swap and a ton of use on it, but as long as it gets you around I guess it's good...OH I did buy a 2002 GT with 165k mile on it and that car definitely showed it's age, and was a big slower. However basic maintenance is easy and if i lived somewhere without a deep winter I'd daily drive a new edge or SN95 all day. cheap, easy to fix.
@@cobracarlos yeah I used to live in southern states and I drove my Mustangs all the time. Now I've got a 1996 Cobra here in MIchigan and I get to drive it like 4 months out of the year...car ownership isn't nearly as fun here.
Bought mine through work (Universal studios) a special order 2002. 302 , street legal headers, flow master 40s, lowered,TA60 radials on Bullet wheels, Sonic Blue, black leather, 16 speaker sound with dual subwoofers and tinted windows. Had to wait a month, and it was worth it! Since I am a retired mechanic, it still looks like I drove it off the showroom floor. I still get pulled over quite a bit, but no tickets. Yet
I drive my 02 GT daily and doing great. Lowering it did cause a problem on speed bumps but careful crossing gets me through. Usual bolt ons. Changing the gears helped a lot with stick shift to drive around town.
Yea speed bumps can get sketchy if you are lowered too much, I can clear most small speed bumps, but scrape my exhaust on the larger ones, the noise hurts my soul 😂
@@Chrissurfs Was there something seriously wrong with yours that you were somehow only able to drive in first gear? Or did you have extremely long gears? I feel like I'm missing something.
@NinniNkip777 sorry. Stock differential gears are too long for my area. With a change to 3.55 or 3.73 I'm able to use my second gear more often around town and my fifth gear is also more usable , lowering fuel consumption.
It took me about 30min to learn manual(5yrs ago) upshifitng is easy its the downshift that took most of the 30mins....havent driven anything since..... learned from a young salesman at Autonation Pinellas Park, FL..... drove the 16' Ford Mustang GT home to Lakeland same day i bought it...... fast forward now i have a 15 1SS 6spd LS3...... nothing like popping clutch and switching lanes 💯
Bought mine with 130k miles sold it with 180k seen it just the other day for sale with 230k miles was amazed it was still around I beat on it all the time lol only problem I ever had was the intake manifold cracked $150 and a few hours in labor went ahead and did the water pump and aluminum radiator new coils and spark plugs. Early on when I got it went all those miles and never touched anything other than oil changes and brakes. Honestly probably one of my favorite daily drivers I’ve ever owned just for around town runs and hell even short trips. Not the most powerful car in the world but gets up to speed does highway speeds and rides smooth.
I have a 2002 Mustang GT for the past 5 years and it is the most reliable car I have ever had. I am 54 years old and have put less than $200 into it during the past 5 years. It has nearly no rust on it so I just recently bought around $1000 worth of the parts for its suspension. Can't see letting it go to waste by not putting anything back in it. Everyone needs to slow down in the rain but most just dont know it!
I've owned 3 4th gen Mustangs. A 97 I worked on for 5 years before a drunk driver totaled it (I miss it every day), an 04 with every bolt on imaginable that never broke down minus a tie rod. And my current is a Black 01 GT vert. (Same floor mats as yours even) This one also has a lot of work done to it but it is a gem in reliability, I can always go out and count on it to start and drive with no issues. Just need to save up and do a new soft top but all these south Florida shops are so expensive and I don't have the space to do it myself. A note to anyone who wants to buy one of these, absolutely do it! However keep note of the front end, you will most likely end up doing Tie rods, ball joints control arms etc. All 3 of mine have needed this done, if you can do it yourself you'll save some decent money. 4th gens from factory didn't have the best front ends apparently. Just finished getting new UPR control arms put on the UPR K member and it's a night and day difference the car feels brand new again.
I drive an old 2001 Mustang, its not a GT, nor a Cobra, but its fun and the perfect size for me! Had to do alot of work to fix it up looks wise but I love it!
I have an 03 GT with 150k miles. I beat the tar out of this car, broke a few things, it's a very reliable vehicle. Easy to fix, huge amount of after market parts to customize it to your needs. Slow but fun.
It would not have left you stranded if it had been properly built. My 1963 Nova SS has never left me stranded. It is several times more reliable than ANY new car.
I daily drive a 2003 Mustang V6 and a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, which has the same engine as the 1999-2004 Mustang GT. The Grand Marquis has 387,000 miles on the original engine, and still runs like new. It's a good engine. The biggest problem with the Mustang GT is it's hideous ghetto wheels and lack of proper tires. Not only are they ugly as hell, but they won't hold up on normal roads, and the lack of proper tires will literally pound the entire car to pieces. Lowering it makes it 10 times worse. My 2003 Mustang came with 16" wheels, which I replaced with 15" wheels from a 2000 Mustang V6, so I could put real tires on it. They are slightly larger in diameter than the original tires, with much wider sidewalls. It has been fine since I bought it 5 years ago. It has NOT been lowered I learned how to drive a stick shift around age 10, in a 1949 Ford farm truck. I have a total of 5 cars, 2 of them are over 50 years old, and run just fine. The older the car, the longer it will likely last, because older cars were designed to be repaired, not replaced. My oldest car is a 1963 Chevy Nova SS. Or at least the body is. Everything else is new. You can't do that with newer cars.
I daily drove my 2001 Bullitt, from new, for 10 years & 135,000 miles before I retired her to the garage. She was super reliable, other than a couple of front wheel bearings & a steering rack replacement along the way. Just keep up on the fluid changes & use only high quality oil!!
I have a 2000 gt convertible. Brought it 10 years ago one owner with 87 thousands miles. Almost 248,000 miles now two new clutches and a head rebuild. $2300 dollars 5 years ago. It still runs like a bat outta hell! It's lightly modded bolt ones. New paint job and top coming in 2024! I'll keep it until I die!
at 25 i daily drove a Roush 429R stage 3 in all weather, snow included with a stick in NY traffic.. all 535hp no issues.. reliable, and just be easy, it's fine.. daily'd a 1985 5.0 manual vert for 6 years.. was fine too.. death trap but fine..
@@cobracarlos In my 40's now, have a rubicon Jeep jl lifted, manual transmission.. still daily drive something "death trap like" i'd still take the mustang as a daily, even in snow, over this thing..
"There are cars 3, 4, 5 years old that are unreliable" Because Ford shit the bed, as did all American manufacturers. Those older Ford V8s are damn near bombproof. Only thing to watch out for on these GTs (and Thunderbirds with the same engine) is be careful when changing the spark plugs. If you do it wrong, you'll strip the threads.
Beautiful ride. What rims are those? Did you put them on or did the car come with them? Just curious of the fit and if there is any rub when turning. Cheers.
I used to daily mine until usually winter hits in my 04 for a few years and the only issues I ever faced were scrapping exhaust and the clutch cable snapped. One of fords greatest motors and cars to work on that is cheap and easy without needing a million special tools. Only major issue with these is the intake manifolds cracking cause they're plastic and if its a Tr3650 they're usually solid but the T5 transmissions have trouble sometimes going into R or 1st which can be annoying. You just have to find a really good previous owner for these or you'll get screwed.
Tbh it having a 45000 mile engine and a new clutch and transmission doesn't really make it entirely a 21 year old car, but good video. I have 90k miles on mine and had no problems at all.
Short ram intakes will make exhaust drone especially at low rpm’s. I experienced this with 4 cylinders cars as well. Best to stick with high quality but expensive cold air intakes where the intake cone is well below the bumper. I wish I had not sold my GT but at he time I didn’t know what to do. Mine was labeled as cold air. When I look at pics it was similar to yours and not down below the bumper enough to avoid droning.
I just bought my first car yesterday, 04 mustang GT. It's lowered 2 inches and I live in California where roads are notoriously bumpy. I'm worried if I buy a lip spoiler that I'm just gonna chip/crack/break it in no time. What do y'all think?
Congrats! The front lip I have is made of a rather flexible plastic so it can take some abuse, I would put it on, one of the best mods to give the car a more aggressive look
That sucks bro...but you got the 1% car...somebody beat on it pretty bad I'm sure..and rode the clutch peddle too.. The cracked intake..yeah...replace it with the upgraded PI
If I live in the LA area, and deal with heavy traffic a lot and occasionally travel to San Diego should I even bother going for a manual? Or roll with an automatic
If you don't have experience driving manual then it will be stressful at first. If you have time to learn then get it because it's a rewarding experience
I didn't think I'd like the automatic but I got an 03 vert with the 4r70w. It pulls hard with a tune and 4.10s. I'd say a tune is pretty necessary with the auto though.
those look like npi valve covers but i could be wrong, that just has me kinda confused unless its got romeo heads and someone just threw on the older valve covers or something like that. regardless, nice car mane
Nice vid just bought a 99 GT with 37000 miles I’m planning on making it my daily it is bone stock and was garaged kept I wanna add stuff to it but don’t know where to start lol
If you have coil overs, you will scrape on everything. You should not have bought it with the coil overs on it. The car has had way too many mods to it. I can tell you rev it too high when changing gears you are already abuseing the car the way you drive it.
In comparison to what??? It’s fast compared to a ten speed, it’s slow compared to a fighter jet….It’s an early 2000s mustang, it is what it’s meant to be, cheap reliable great looking fun…With a factory pussy magnet 🧲 and a an aftermarket vibration full exhaust mod…
