I love driving an electric car. I tell people it’s like driving a very powerful gas car in 1st gear but better. INSTANT response from the throttle but at ANY speed.
After watching your video, I made an appointment at my dealership for the maintenance. Can't believe the guy told me $79 for fluids, tire rotation, brake check and oil change. Guess he didn't know EV's don't take oil.
Thank you. I recommend you charge to 85% for better battery health. I like the Ford Mach-E, and especially the AWD model since it is safer. I hope they add a solar panel standard. None of the Teslas come with a solar panel yet, so may be if Ford did that, it would help inspire them. A solar panel could not just add some range each day, but help keep the temperature cooler in the summer.
I have a Mach E. The car is almost FREE to operate. 27k miles and not one single cost to the shop. Zero maintenance. Nothing. My electric bill at home has increased by about $30 to $60 a month. But it's going lower because my electric rate has decreased from $.15/kwh to $.024/kwh.
I’ve gone in for my 10k at the dealership. No cost, just tire rotation and windshield washer fluid. No change in electric bill. My home is over 3k sq feet and our electric is about $200 a month. I charge my MME daily in Texas. I hated going to the gas stations before. I’m glad I have a 240volt in my garage for charging.
The time saved not having to go into the stealership is almost worth it in itself to get an EV. I don’t have a Mach E but I have a different EV. Over two years ownership and about 21k miles on it. I rotate my own tires (10 minutes and free to do) and only thing I’ve needed to spend money on is the cabin filter. Takes two filters and came out to $30 for the pair. So maintenance costs alone for over 2 years is $30. Not a typo. Incredible!
Remember Mach-E is made by Ford (Fixed-Or-Repaird-Daily.) I owned a Mach-E from February 21 - December 22, during which it spent more than three months with its stealership with several recalls and numerous problems. Sadly, its stealership refused to provide a loaner and I had to argue with the Ford corporate for each and every repair. Luckily, Ford spontaneously offered me a repurchase with a full refund. What a nightmare!!
@@BobbyG3.14 To be honest, I didn't experience noticeable degradation. I could always get the 35 miles of range. But in the early spring and fall, it would rise into the 40s. 51 miles was the best I ever got trying to maximize the range.
Ty for ur great videos, I'm actually signed up for mach-e back in Feb but still w8ing for it ( every day its getting postponed :/ ). i have a question for u, if u can test it out on mach-e, i checked all over internet couldn't find it. what would happen if u ignore the hands free alarm ( the eyes on the road error) , what would happen if u ignore that alarm for long time? i saw Tesla slow down the car and put in park with emergency lights on after 3 alarm ignored. Ty
Thanks for watching I appreciate it! Yea I have another one ordered since December and still don’t even have a build date so it may take a while longer.. yes it has a similar feature where it will slow down to a stop I’ll try to make a video showing how it does that
On the comments you made about brakes. I have a Ford Fusion Energi with 100k miles that has never needed brake pads replaced. That's with driving probably 60/40% hybrid/ev. The Energi has sort of a one pedal mode in EV if you run it in L, but I have always run it in D. So you're probably spot on saying this won't need brakes for at least 100k.
I went to Ford as well to get a tire rotation. Person at ford told me why wait for over 2 hours for a tire rotation you can take this EV to any shop and just add your rotation to your app.
Just had my tires rotated at the dealer for 30 bucks 17k miles on my GT Performance. Summer tires still rated "4" by the dealer with me bracket racing it on the weekend. I'm very impressed with the cost savings!
I laughed at the statement that washer fluid is the only fluid. The bottom part of the screen was showing the coolant overflow bottles. It also has brake fluid. My dealer wants me to have them change the fluid lubricating the reduction gears & differential.
I have a VW ID.4 and you can't rotate the tires because the front and rear are different sizes. My rear tires lasted for 40000 miles and my front tires lasted 48000. Note its rear wheel drive.
I’ve had mine for a week now. I commute 70 miles daily and honestly charging has been no hassle. I do live in SoCal so I do have a huge amount of chargers in my vicinity but my basic AC gives me roughly 25% charge over night.
I looked at a Tesla before the Mach E and I have to say the mustang is so much better looking. The only con with the E I’ve had so far is people saying THATS not a Mustang. Lol
I had my Mustang Mach E Route One Since November 8th. my stocks still good from day one. I order some after Marker 20 inch rims from ford with wider tires. I didn’t like the slim tires that came with this EV.
We are just the opposite (by sex): My wife drives an Explorer, so when she drives my Mach-e she hates the One Pedal feature, but I drive it all the time and when I get in after she drives it, I know right away to turn all those features on! We have two MMEs, one's for sale, but we both love driving our MMEs! Stay safe!
I doubt that it practically makes much difference on the Mach e whether you have one pedal on or off. Even if you have it off, it will still apply regen braking before friction braking so you'll get most of the efficiency and wear and tear benefits. I would just do whatever your driving preference is. This behavior is not the case for all EVs, which is actually why the Mach E gets some criticism for the feel of its brakes.
@@stephenjones8645 The vehicle will rate you on how effective using regenerative braking is adding to your range. On the far left side of the drivers display after every stop. I rated 95% on my last trip. Once you get used to it it's a snap!
Absolutely does, just like when you engange an AC on an underpowered car, you feel that load affect the engine and slow it down a bit. Reginerative breaking uses the same principle, but with a much larger load that feeds what would be lost energy back to the battery. Its all about mitigating loss of energy, which can typically be measured by heat dissipation, typical brakes generate a tone of heat when you stop - all of that is wasted energy - the EV have a unique capability to 'recapture' a good portion of that lost energy and give it back to the batter, all the while saving you brake parts! :)
How is the vehicle in cabin quietness? And I don’t mean that artificial engine sound, I mean in terms of tire/road noise and cabin sound insulation. I like my music at very low volume but the Rav4 for example is super loud after 65mph Considering a quieter replacement and I really like the Match-E 😏
"blinker fluid" LOL funny thing is unless I am mistaken the original blinkers DID have some type of fluid...actually an insulator oil Dashpot relays were used forever in time delay relays especially in train controls and such....pretty sure they were some of the first automotive blinkers also so maybe that is where the joke came from way back when idk...idk if the relay oil even could be changed in those....but in the big locomotive relays etc? no doubt
2013 Nissan Leaf. ALL that I have done is: charge it, fill tires with air, add windshield wiper fluid, replace front windshield wiper blades. 11 years and never a visit to a dealer nor any mechanic. No tire replacement. The next maintenance item will be the 12v battery. 52,000 miles.
To be clear, you don't need to use 1 pedal driving to get regenerative braking in the Mach E. The brake pedal in the car also uses regenerative braking and will only use the friction brakes if you slam the brake pedal, where you are emergency braking, where the regenerative braking alone won't stop the car fast enough.
I sold my 2012 Outback and switched to a Nissan Leaf. I charge at home only at night when electricity is cheapest. I save about $940 every 5000 miles vs. The Outback. I've driven 24k miles so almost $5k saved in about 3 years. I have not had to change tires, oil, brakes. Only wiper fluid and a cabin air filter so far. I do have to pay $110 every two years in road tax
Thanks for video, Out of curiosity, At what time do we need to replace Mach-E battery and how much does it cost? Considering to lease/finance Mach-E ..
Tires will definitely depend on the model. I have a Mach E GT Performance Edition and had to replace them around 19K, which also was likely due to them being the factory performance tires. We replaced them with a set that should last a bit longer while still retaining some good handling. Other than that, I haven't done a thing to the car and it's now at 24K miles. BTW, I also have a BMW M4 and I religiously use my blinker everywhere just to throw you guys off. Trying to repair BMW stereotype with one blink at a time...
Just had my 4 year old Volvo in for its annual service (80k km/50k miles) and it was 800 dollars for an oil change, engine air filter and cabin air filter. Getting tired of getting gouged on basic serving for ICE cars at luxury dealers that may be time to make the EV switch and nothing to my eye looks cooler on the EV market then the Mach E
@@BobbyG3.14 The battery has lost about 15% capacity as far as I can tell. It has also lost some power when fully charged and it's not quite as sporty as it once was. It's been my habit to always keep it on the charger (not knowing how Lion batteries work) but that doesn't seem to have been a bad choice. I drive it to depletion almost daily so that's approximately 4000+ charge cycles and it's still going strong!!!
True... but since fossil fuels are subsidized with tax dollars (as are the government and societal expenses for adapting to climate change) should we just call it even?
@@retropyor Oh, I know it's coming, but it is a dumb idea to do this right now. Is this really fairness, or thinly veiled schadenfreude? I drive an F150. It doesn't bother me that evs get a free ride right now.
My 2013 Ford C-max hybrid with 239,000 miles still has the original pads and rotors with over 50% left on the pads. I break gently so almost all my breaking is done via regen.
You said that the only fluid is the windshield washer fluid. This is not true. Under the front hood under the plastic panel behind the storage compartment is a reservoir for brake fluid, and another one for the coolant for the batteries. Important to know. Love your video though. Thank you.
I have 21000 on my Mach e. It’s a 2021 car. 7 recalls so far. And it updates like my cell phone. One pedal drive I don’t use. When I did use it, the rotors rusted up. Then when I turned it off, the rust caused the rotors to groove from the brake pads. I wasn’t to happy about that. But Ford took care of it. The tires still seem quite healthy. I rotate them every 10,000 miles as recommended. Washer fluid doesn’t cost me a thing because I get it free at work. I do oil changes at work. It’s great not putting that stuff and gasoline in my car. The biggest issue I have is the range anxiety. This is not a tourist car. It is for local driving only. Charging takes way too long. I do it at home, overnight. Two or three times a week. BTW, there are other fluids. Brake fluid and air conditioner recharge. All in all a great car but it’s the range anxiety that gets me the most. I use an ICE car for long trips.
By the way, tires / tire rotations, cabin filters, brake pads, 12V batteries, windshield wipers...aren't "maintenance" items They're consumables that every car on the road generally require replacing when they wear out Maintenance = "Maintaining" the life of what's generally considered a non-consumable part Such as changing oil for an engine or a transmission
Where are the climate controls & windshield wipers on the Mach-E? I'm somewhat uneasy with Teslas because I don't want to have to hunt for the windshield defroster, AC or heater when I'm on the freeway. I don't even want to think about using the touch screen to find the wiper controls if I'm hit by a sudden downpour.
Just replaced my wife tires at 30k miles, MachE RWD and heavy on the pedal. They still probably had 5k or so left on them 10k if you want slicks but wanted nicer rims so went swapped them early.
I have a 2022 Mach e GT. I had to take it back to the dealer with only 6560 miles because the front brake rotors had warped! Instead of replacing the roters, they resurfaced them.
search for mach e jackery. There are a couple videos of guys charging their mach E or Tesla with solar panels and a jackery portable. Not sure really how effective it is. But also note, one of those guys had a charging port failure recently and is so disappointed he said he's selling his mach e because of it. No idea if it was just a defective part or if using the jackery setup might have contributed, but in theory it should just work.
I live in germany and have a mach e awd X 2021. Ford dealership says I have to bring it in for service every tweentyfour months to insure not loosing garanty and pay approx 400 bucks for them to check the damned thing - seems to be a ripoff
That’s 200 eur per year? Sounds like a good deal! Why would that be a ripoff? I service my Ford Puma ST in Belgium annually and pay approx 400 eur per year(!).
EV Cost: The only thing that really matters is depreciation. 35% loss in 3 years compared to 5% for a well built ICE or hybrid should wake up most buyers. Some don’t wake up. Some don’t even care about cost. Some are getting the surprise of their life as that can’t get out of the car and its payments because the loss is so great. Now if you are in Government who cares??? That’s somebody else’s problem (in their mind). And the Taxpayers just accept it. Shocking.
I actually have a whole video on that here you go! How Much Is Insurance For My Mach-E - Monthly Cost ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o2Rwehl7_Jc.html
My 2021 now has just over 20k miles. I did have to get my brakes changed right at 19k. We do not use 1 pedal drive. I have taken in for rotations and the breaks, that’s IT! I git those done when in for other recalls. The brakes were covered under warranty and I only paid $25 to get brakes replaced. I drive too fast too often and Thus break too hard. But getting better😅
I am not at all surprised that you have almost zero maintenance cost. There are drivers of gas powered cars who can claim the same thing. 100K miles and never changed the oil! Their blinker fluid reservoir is probably dried up, too. I placed an order for a GTPE the first week that 2023 orders opened. Black, with the Nite Pony package. Wicked!
The biggest inhibitor for me has been finding winter tires / wheels to fit the GT. Because of the brake caliber size, you can’t fit 18” wheels with winters on like you can with the other models. And the all-seasons don’t cut it in the northeast.
We don't own an EV as of Yet. However, I have followed some Very Very Very knowledgeable You Tube Channels, and if I'am not Mistaken the EV Family of Vehicles, as far as I Know, (and Don't Quote Me), they "DO HAVE" Coolant of some Sort Used to COOL, the Batteries???? And OIL to Lubricate the Motors Internal Movie Parts???? And just like the ICE Counterpart's..... That will require Periodic Maintenance??? And...... Much more Often than the MFG's Required Intervals. And altho no one say's anything much about them???? The Batteries WILL Require Maintenance and or Replacement at some Point??? That Cost is Totally Ridiculously Expensive??? Just saying. However, Not being an EV owner, I probably am Talking out my Back Side I would Suppose?
@@Annette_Hons funny you mention that, I actually checked with my utility company and to my surprise this company doesn’t have off peak hours so I can charge any time of the day and still costs the same!
