I've been wearing the same black belt since 2001 made by kamae International and its mainly white now! It means the most to me,because I have worn that belt throughout my competition years and gradings! In 2021 I passed my 4th dan in shotokan and now have a new belt to train with.
I have a tokaido gi that was my fathers it's about 30yrs old and the threads are all loose and theres even a hole here or there but you just can't beat that authentic wear and tear look and feel in my eyes. My brother wears his belt seeing as they share the same name wich is also tokaido worn out but it just looks so good. Your collection is Epic.
Although satin belts do wear more quickly than cotton, there should only be visible wear where the knot ties and on the sides of the belt. The wear on the sides would be from friction from chambering punches, especially by guys who like to rub their belt and gi when they punch to give it that extra sound effect. There is no way hat the belt should have that much wear, if any, in the back. Certainly not all the way around on the edges, either. If he practiced a grappling style with lots of mat work, I would expect wear on the back of the belt and all over in general. Karate? No way. I’ve had my belt for years and trained outside in back yard dojo’s for years, and I never got wear anywhere except for the knot and the top edges of my right and left side.
@@aurum4146 not enough to wear out my belt like that, nor have I ever seen another karate style practice grappling to that extent. The key phrase there is to that extent.
i dont know how in just 2 years one belt look like as if you had put it in the blender... how? are you stratching them with something to make them look older ?
Victor Borrero he’s shaving his belts and accelerating wear on purpose. The majority of wear comes at the knot and toward the backside. The dead giveaway is he has consistent hard wear on ever part of the edge of the belt which is not natural wear. Also, his edges are fraying and falling apart like a 10 year old belt but his satin sides still look good - also inconsistent with natural wear. Lastly, the front of his belt should be worn out more if the entire belt has a white edge because that’s where the belt is seeing the most friction. Also he sticks with subpar brands that fade easier. A Shureido or higher end Tokaido won’t fall apart like that with “natural wear”.
Clowneous made the point. Getting a bell that worn out in barely 2 years is complete bull**** in my opinion. I've been wearing mine for 10 years and it's only getting "white" around the main zone of friction. And it's not even a high end one (i would actually prefer it to stay in good shape). As for the "I teach everyday" excuse, nice try :') Please note I'm not in any way commenting on your training or skills. I do question though the morality of this kind of "act", and wondering if this kind of behaviour is acceptable from a teacher. As with any equipment, respect and maintain your gear, otherwise you just look like a fool. Martial Arts ? You wouldn't see a soldier with a wore down uniform or gear. I sincerely wish you a nice training, all the best
Marcel Mopi exactly. Its like a lawyer with a old ratty necktie "well that shows i work alot." Yea buy a new one it should be black. I agree ive also been wearing the same belt for 11 yrs and u can barely see the white comming thru in the knot area.
I recently started sewing my own belts. Its a pretty cool and rewarding experience. I think when i have a student reach black belt level i will make their belt for them. Will all the time and effort they take to get the belt i will put my own time and effort to make it for them.
Tokaido brand is the best! I've got two Tokaido Gis in the early 1970s and they are still presentable today. The Wado Kai system here in Fliorida has multi-colored belts for ranks 4th dan and higher. I am not Wado, but have trained with them. Best!
Every one of these karate belts are satin with a cotton core. Satin frays very fast and will give that beat-up look within no time. My bjj belt is cotton, with a white core and it has yet to show its inner core. If you prefer that beat-up look get yourself a satin belt, I wouldn't recommend it tho. Nothing worse to get smashed around while looking like a 300 years experience black belt.
Jeez! I bought a Tokaido Champion 100% cotton black belt 13 years ago. It's the only one I have. I use it all the time. Only has the slightest bit of wear at the area near the knot.
Every club is different, and personal preference too. In my club red is for shodan-nidan, silver for sandan-yondan, gold for godan-rokudan & purple for shichidan-hachidan. Helps everyone see a new goal, but also keep their belt for 4-10yrs.
Your belts are showing Very UNNATURAL WEAR!, Belt's don't wear out like that. You have been scraping the edges of your belts with a knife or thread ripper and washing them everyday!,...If your not already a star on "Bullshido I know you will be soon.
Come fate a consumare la cintura nera cosi? La grattate? ... non dite che si usura da sola! Non e' vero!!! Come la consumate voi? Dite la verita'! Osu!
Wow you buy some really shit quality belts. How the hell can a belt get torn up and frayed and loss of color in such a short time? I have a black belt from 1999 and it has not frayed at all or loss any color. Seems you shred them up on purpose for asthetics?
Watch the other 130+ vlogs and you'll see stuff... and that stuff will show you how I wore out expensive belts in 2-4yrs which takes others decades! Enjoy!
