Good easy to flow instruction video. If you are not a public speaker or teacher in real life, you should be. You do a very good job of explaining things that I figure are common sense to most people, so I don't bother, but then I realize there are many people out there willing to take things apart without having an understanding or knowledge of what they are doing.
Warrior, I love your comments because they normally have two or three layers of meaning - that not everyone catches! I just had a slew of folks yelling at me to just take it apart. They don't know the engineering, and its design failures. Attempted dissasembly on ABT jam, for most, destroys the gun! Yes, teaching is close to what I do. There are times that I feel I'm in an endless wrestling match with the engineering FAILURES of the modern Ryder. Then there is the task of getting others to understand the issues. But having said that, my Ryder is my favorite PURE BB gun. A BB breech jam and back-end jam have both been cleared. No further jams have happened because of counter measures: I only shoot elite new BBs, and the back end is heavily lubed with Ballistol.

I note that your practice with the platform shows in the way you are able to attain very admirable accuracy in an earlier video. I do not have that luck, either due to practice level (hard to believe) or the fit of my guns parts. I feel that locking down the Red Ryder into a CLS, should completely remove me from the picture. I do wish, no fantasize, about a Daisy custom shop that would turn out a modern high-end modular Red Ryder in all metal or an 880 with various barrel and receiver choices but those are just dreams.
Thank you for the video. I tried but it did not work for me, however it did give me an idea. I used a cable tie to tie the trigger back and hold it in position. Loosened the first bolt(not removed) and left it in the hot sun for a few hrs. The sun expanded the metal, and i brought it inside, removed the cable tie, cocked the lever, and it worked.
Very innovative! Great fix! You came up with your own fix for the ABT jam. I do have a video celebrating another gent who came up with using a ZIP TIE to hold the trigger back! Otherwise, the classic user flub - remove the srew all the way, and the trigger gets sucked inside. So please consider removing your lever and lubing with 30 ND or Ballistol on the metal plate (plunger back) to stop this jam coming back. Please consider Daisy Match BBs to stop an equally bad breech jam. They are better made and more accurate.
I'm glad your boy got got his Ryder working. 7 CLICKS Please consider removing the lever and targeting the slanted plunger plate with a puff of Ballistol or some drops of 30 ND. That helps fight off a REAL ABT jam that hits these guns early out of the box. It slicks out the trap teeth and sear as your gun breaks in.
Ok, for that trigger to get sucked inside, that means somebody cocked it. They didn't tell you. Normally, the anti-bear trap sucks in the trigger because the lever and trigger go slack; your mainspring plunger hangs out on the ABT. Owners try taking out the RR trigger screw. The spring under tension pulls in the entire trigger assembly by the bear trap arm. If you are tool savvy, you have a chance. I just gifted my son his 1st red ryder. Bought brand new from Amazon. I dry fired it 2 times. Then I let him cock it. Trigger has slack now. Cocking lever has zero clicks now! Never even got to shoot a BB out of it. :( not sure if it was caused by him possibly not cocking to a full 7 clicks or not. But when I go to cock it there are ZERO clicks. Was thinking if he didn't cock it all the way why wouldn't I just be able to cock it the rest of the way then dry fire? Say he did 5 clicks then I do 2 more. Nothing! It's just loose when cocking again meaning zero clicks
Sir, sorry your boy experienced the over-engineered Ryder. But you did great explaining yourself. That is REAL backside jam - not just user error trying try to cock it. Follow these videos in the EXACT order. Taking out the trigger screw on this jam is always risky. Try the pick method first. I just received my adult Red Ryder from Amazon today and I have dry fired that thing 10 to 15 times with zero issues mind you I'm making sure while I'm cocking it I'm either hearing the seven clicks and Counting or just cocking all the way out till the lever goes no more then pulling it back and then dry firing. By you making a statement over engineered Red ryder does that mean it came faulty from the factory. So this isn't an operator error on my son's part you think? He was super bummed and like Daddy I broke my gun I said no you didn't something doesn't seem right
Operator error is only not cocking it 7 clicks or using USED BBs that cause a breech jam. The anti-trap (ABT) can jam in new guns and IS NOT your son's fault. They used not to have the ABT - these jams were non-existent.. Even your new ARR is vulnerable, so please try ideas below: If you have Ballistol on hand, do it now. The backside jams hit NEW Ryders. It is related to the ABT (anti-trap); many lose their gun over it. Lore, interesting. Ok let's get this straight. In the video I start by showing a SLACK lever, it is quiet though. SOUNDS normally only come from the teeth on the bear trap or the sear that holds your plunger. The sear is the final CLICK before you pull the trigger. Lore, if you hear 2 or 3 clicks, then you pull the trigger and it goes click again - but the gun isn't shooting or sounding like it does when shooting-that is a BB jam in your breech. That is another video.

In his case, he saved his gun, because most shooters when they get HUNG UP ON THEIR BEAR TRAP (ABT), they try taking it apart and the the trigger gets sucked inside. HE avoided that by showing me a video.

DJ, three main reasons for droopy lever. Also called slack lever: (1) You did not cock it 7 clicks. You are hung up on your ABT (anti-bear trap). (2) You have a BB JAM. I have a video for that. That shows by having a droopy lever BUT your trigger still goes "click" and goes click again when you pull the trigger. (3) Or you have real jam in back, and your plunger is out of position. This video covers that. Please consider taping trigger back with blue painters tape, wrapping stock. Then remove screws.

Hola, primero tenemos que estar en la misma página. Si tiene el viejo Red Ryder, no necesita el trinquete ni el clic. Esa es una trampa para osos que causa MUCHO JAMES. Sé feliz de no tener uno. En cuanto a la potencia, use una punta de aguja en el orificio de aceite con aceite de compresor. Solo unas pocas gotas. Hombre, tengo un Buck de los 90. ABT no está cerca. No tiene atasco en la parte trasera. Esos atascos son detectados por gatillo y palanca flojos. Sin clic de gatillo, sin trinquete en el ABT. so i failed to listen and attempted to remove the screw without holding the trigger back. the screw can’t be taken out or fully put back in. the trigger still moves decently well. i’m working on the 80th anniversary red ryder model. any advice how to fix this?
@Znaniye YES, stop trying to remove the screw for now. Freeze! So here is the reality: Shooters don't cock their RR 7 clicks, they think it is jammed, they try removing trigger and it gets sucked inside. Much more serious jam. A gent figured out the ultimate fix for what I now call zombie jam. Slack lever slack trigger. SOME ARE REAL plunger jams - not your fault. Now you already were in progress of removing screw. That tension you feel is the anti bear trap (ABT) pulling on your trigger housing. If you force that screw out now, it will get sucked inside. Please follow video below, then review RR handling video. IN YOUR CASE, DON'T REMOVE SCREW UNTIL YOU HAVE AIMED DOWN, PULL THE TRIGGER BACK, AND SMACKED THE GUN AND SHAKEN IT. I had that happen ‘once’ out of my collection of 6 Red Riders, all different commemorative models (no two identical) . The one that happened to is the only one that says “made in china” on ti. Just an observation..
Ray, you are on the right track. My 77xs came with chewed up O rings and a chamber seal that looked like it was dragged through the mud. With the mentioned check valve, I had to scrub out the hollow space and change out both rings. No love in China that day!

Yeah, the ABT really is a headache. There shouldn't be a "second" time if you oil the plunger. Meaning, you take off the lever and soak the plate in the back. This jam hits new guns. Please cock it 7 CLICKS. Here are some videos. You still have a chance, even with the trigger sucked inside. Señor, los puntos del video son los siguientes: (1) Asegúrese de que su Ryder tenga 7 clics o que su gatillo no esté activado. 6 clics y menos es su ABT (anti-bear trap). ABT es seguro para proteger tus dedos. 3/8 de pulgada desde el frente de la palanca hasta el receptor. El tamaño de la brecha. Debería disparar. (2) Si eso no funciona, si todavía está atascado y el gatillo no se dispara (clic), use cinta de pintor azul para envolver el gatillo y la culata hasta que esté completamente hacia atrás.
