The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists. While visiting New York, he spoke with "CBS This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell about mental health, politics with China, and the chance of a female Dalai Lama.
@@justinoneill3954 and we should learn to not be concerned as well :) We're here for his wisdom, not for their jokes. We should be more tolerant and try to understand that they not neceserily are on their path to understand what's really important as we are
Micah Bernhardt: I do not see what they said at the end of the video when Charlie Rose was repeating what the Dalia Lama said as "mocking" at all but rather copying is a form of flattery, they did not denigrate him but loved him. Pity you took that the wrong way.
If they understand Dalai Lama's humility & humor (1 of the pillars of joy), cracking jokes on his holiness will not even tickle his temper. And his holiness would want people to find happiness from him that's why he taught of humor about laughing at ownself, being humble, modest. Like in many public speeches and press conf he's always doing funny things and jokes (can find in youtube, you will laugh along), never did once the interviewers are not laughing! The joy and laughter never ends in his presence even just thinking about him. Like the newcasters, just by thinking and talking about him they are like choking happy regardless what kind of jokes they are teasing...But those that stopped feeling such joyfulness after leaving his aura, are those that have too much of anger, ego, arrogant, jealousy and even schadenfrede, who they need to be more worried about themselves.
I thought the same at first for a split second, but then I realized why I was thinking like that and how it was stealing from me the happiness of the moment just after a really funny interview. This shows how much we cling to our egos and paves the way for unhappiness. If you can catch your thoughts in the act, you can escape it's deception! :)
What kind of question is "no wine, no tobacco and celibate. What do you do for fun?" there are a million different ways to have fun that don't involve any of that. I think the way she introduced the question was just in appropriate. Besides that I liked the interview.
anyone find it ironic how most of the comments for this video are negative? (despite the dalai lama's message that hate and anger are bad for our health?) =)
He's a schill for the DNC! My daughter attended and graduated from UC Santa Barbara and while there she worked part time for his foundation at the university, where his foundation and endowment receives millions of dollars every year from the rich and afluent residents of Santa Barbara.
The arrogance at the end... I can’t help but laugh. You were face to face with one of the prime examples of an enlightened mind, & you mock it... Most only know how to communicate by gossiping, complaining or judging. I don’t understand. But then again, I do. Wish I could be on his level with deep simplicities..
Dear CBS, please dont imitate with high pitch tone even though you meant merely a joke but clearly to us, its a mockery. No need to do that kind of things.
After the tragedies which the Dalai Lama experienced first hand, the killing of many thousands of Tibetan people when the Chinese came to take over Tibet, many monasteries, precious paintings were destroyed, he had to leave his own home yet he manages to have true happiness in his life, I have seen him as part of an audience in Portland, everyone loved him, a loving and caring human being.
maple1255 I know it must be so very hard for him moving from 5 star 🌟 hotel to 5 star hotel drinking champagne while his so called people live in poverty
Haha, Charlie Rose is making fun of the Dalai Lama only because he wish he had the same charisma. People freak out when he tries to be funny on his own show. Everything the Dalai Lama says isn't sugar coated, and mostly simple logic.
I thought Dalai Lama was looking at you as a beautiful woman but he was working on his mind not to express it. :). Very discipline being...the hardest part of controlling emotion...
even that beauty shall pass away one day. Only old, aged skin,, wrinkles,, crowsfeet,, and ugliness will remain,, slowly,, even that will decay,, and only rotten flesh and a skeleton skull will remain,, with an insight to see into this,, you'll be free.
Negative emotions, in my opinion, do have their purpose. They can be useful survival mechanisms and have helped humanity answer serious issues where being passive wouldn't work. That being said, it should be handled carefully. People should avoid being quick to such negative emotions as they can easily be consumed and make matters worse. Like a fire, if tended to and controlled, it can be beneficial. But if not taken care of, it can be destructive.
Anger, hatred, fear and tons of stress brought me right into severe deseases. His Holiness is so right. Get it of these fealings if you can or get out of the situation triggering them for your own good.
Take it easy, the Dalai Lama would probably be happy to make people laugh, it is important to keep a sense of humor and not to take things too personally. I think they liked his easiness to say things and that is why they just imitated him, I do not think they mocked him. I live myself in a country that speak a different language than mine and when people imitates me, it is because they find my accent somehow sweet, it is not meant to hurt me, life is easier if you can see things that way.
The antidote to fear is mindfulness. And loving-kindness. That's it. Fear is like darkness. And love is like light. Don't try fighting the darkness. It's a lost battle. Just bring the light in. And darkness will disappear. Similarly, don't try dealing with the fear at first. The problem will become more and more complicated. Instead love more. And love unconditionally. You are blessing yourself via loving. Not only the other. Because the more you love, the more existence will fill you up with joy and peace! Fear would simply evaporate. Just bring in the light. And that is, mindfulness--which really means just slowing down, de-automatise, that's the first step towards being aware ....and compassion. The ultimate flowering of love! 🙏❤️
Good on ya my main Dalai Lama seeing beautiful women can be both a blessing and a curse. She was feeling the spirits. Here in the 21st century everything is bad for your health.
Good evening Peace in our mind, will contribute infinity goodness to serve , there is no more pain, suffering and attachments in our negative feeling and though , automatically prevent Judgement. This is the everlasting happiness by us God bless us all Amen
I felt the entire video was very well communicated, the way of indirectly giving answers to some direct questions. H.H. Dalai Lama understanding or being informed about the fact that, women now are very much capable of standing up for themselves. Also, the question about how H.H. Dalai Lama deals with temptations is so common since almost all religion now have accepted married religious leaders/teachers and it's very much evident in Buddhist (when seen in the perspective of religion) too.
One day , a boy met " Buddha" and said to Buddha..." Buddha, I want to be like you ...please tell me how ".................. "Buddha" said " Well , if you want to be me .....you will see white line appear on the floor ...and things will appear on the side of the line ...collect it and bring it to me ...the more things you bring to me , the greater chance you be me "....... So one day , the boy wanted to be Buddha and saw white line and things appear on the floor .....................he is so excited and follow the white line and collect things and carry it on his back ........ as he travel , his desire to be Buddha increase , his love to be Buddha increase , his greed for more things increase , his fear of losing things that he collected and carried on his back increase .... his ego of to be Buddha increase ... and as he collected more and more items and it became more and more heavy .........and he is getting more and more suffer .............at one point , as he turn his head ...he was shocked and saw , white line are everywhere ......and there are countless of item on the floor ...and there are no one beside him ... he is always alone ...no one going to take away the things he collected on his back ......... he recognize he is like someone watching a movie acted and directed by him .............his desire to travel decrease , his love to be Buddha decrease , his fear of losing the things he carry decrease , his greed / ego of holding on his will decrease ........and his will to move on decrease .......and as the hold on his will and the things on his back decreases ........ all things slowly , gradually and naturally drop from his back ... and as more and more things drops from his back , he is more and more at ease ........and finally there is no more things on his back ...there is no more holds on his will ...his will to travel decreases ...he is moving slower and slower ....he finally stop as he no longer with any will to travel.....and he is arrived ... he is free ...he is peace ....he is Buddha ....... The words of Buddha is only about YOU not a guide of who you should be . . All Buddhist Teacher are using Buddha's words as a guide for you to be " someone ".... leading you to be " there "....but you are always " here " ...is you that suffer struggling to be " there ".... all Buddhist Teacher are like someone giving you muddy water to wash your clothing and let you expect it to be cleaned while they relaxing drinking cappuccino at Starbucks and let you pay the bill. In the current mind of me all Buddhist Teacher are robber that robbed Buddha's words....a parasite that feeding on Buddha words for fame and recognition and a TERRORIST OF MANKIND for transforming perhaps the greatest discovery of mankind into a factor for human to suffer ... I am not a spam or a troll and is here with my identity card name and a face on my profile.....I cordially invites all Buddhist Teacher to debate with me as to challenge this mind of me
please dont say that dalai lama institution will cease to work if it is not relevant... today generation needs your guidance towards wisdom, peace and way to lead life.
I do not hate the reporters for there ignorance but still mockery/bullying leads to Sadness and sadness if left untreated leads to depression and anxiety this ultimately leads to death if you are experiencing sadness or depression please let someone know and get help it will get better as long as you can ask for help And if you mock/bully others for what they do I'm not mad i'm just disappointed and ask you to stop the cycle of hatered
The amount of hate and anger coming from the people in the comments who are supposedly defending the spiritual leader of a peace-based spiritual system is quite ironic.
He is the onlyDalia lama Who accepted money from CIA of America Any doubt Ask American for exact amount And purpose Keep cool and explain Spiritual leader
they're not mocking him in a bad light they seem to love the way he speaks and the general happiness that comes across in his voice, not because of his accent.
People who are sincere in their spiritual quest, should not regard the Dalai Lama as the one-stop point. There are many learned people in the east and the west dispute Dalai's spiritual authority and political intentions. Such work has been carried out by scholars such as Michael Parenti, Colin Goldner, Mariana and Herbert Röttgen, and more recently in the new book "Dalai Lama: Not So Zen" by Maxime Vivas.
