Yes! That's what I was trying to figure out what it was that made her Acting so amazing. And to think she almost got "Fired" and then would direct Episodes. Another person who is brilliant is Heather Tom who could do the One Tear Cry when she played Victoria Newman on The Young & The Restless. Liam Payne's Ex Girlfriend Cheryl Ann Tweedy could do a One Tear Cry when on a Talent Judge on The X Factor had to let Contestants go.
Yep. He also said it when Bobby bought Pam a "New Toy". It was the only time he left The House without his Briefcase or his Signature Cowboy Hat. In that Episode the Man had so much swag.
I guess good ole JR met one of his associates for a good fuck after dropping off Sue-Ellen at Southfork. Very courteous of him to tell her not to wait up. What a gentleman. YIKES! 😎
He got it on with Kristen almost cost him his life. Julie the first secretary Louella the second one. His own neice Lucy's sister in law Afton on Lucy's wedding day. Probably even that one old man's wife who swindled Bobby on the Venezuela deal. Thats just so cold
It was kind of funny when Sue Ellen said “Cliff’s never going to put up with that.” Sue Ellen was almost in tears when Cliff told her “there are certain things I need, and I can’t have them, and you;”it was even funnier when he also to,d Sue Ellen “I might not be able to forgive myself, or you for what our relationship might cost me.” Cliff was a milder version of JR.
You're right and it makes me sick to see these new shows trying to ride on the coattails of great shows like these and tarnishing their greatness. All because people today are too focused on the agenda to have any talent to make anything good!
Excellent writing. At this point is when things really started to get personal between Cliff and JR. It went from the Ewings in general to him vs. JR to the end.
This was the start of her drinking for many, many seasons. It was very hurtful, she never had affair before, but she bounced back as time went by she became one of the richest and most powerful women. True survivor. :)
It was at that point in Dallas when we saw Sue Ellen for who she really was,a woman who needed to be loved and willing to love in return not the hungry money person she appeared to be,but a vulnerable sensitive woman who needed to be loved by her husband.
@@faithwatkins7811 so true. Sue Ellen looked for financial stability first more than love or sexual desire. When we look at later seasons, sue Ellen cared about the name "Ewing" and what it can do for her. Her game plan was simple, keep the Ewing name at all costs to hell with the rest.
@@mofokengmoiloa1231 Do you remember the scene at the pool were Sue Ellen told JR: "Beleave it or not Jr. I loved you when I married you". And the scene with Bobby in the sanitarium were she told him about the baby. That she really love JR. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qE79Iv2hjdQ.html One of my favorite scenes...hit me every time deep down. What a great acting from both.
Every person man or women in the world wants love, Sue Ellen also wanted the rich lifestyle with none of the drawbacks, similar to Carmela Soprano, in a way most female wife's of powerful men characters are written the same way
Jr drove her to drink and drove her into cliffs arms. She only wanted to be loved and him be faithful. I dont believe she'd ever cheated or drank if he would of done right.
winogirlll: JR turned out to be the real father of the baby. But Cliff couldn’t have Sue Ellen and his “political ambitions,” especially with the mighty JR pulling the strings.
Another fun fact was when Linda Gray helped present the First Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Appearance on a TV Series and it was all from "The Cosby Show". The Man who won was the Late Roscoe Lee Browne who played a Friend of Russell Huxtable (RIP), whose Cousin was Phyllis Hyman who although was very talented, never got as far as a Diva in the tradition of Diana Ross. She sadly enough killed herself.
You know what's also so quirky, Linda Gray's Legs were featured in The Poster for The Graduate in 1967 with Dustin Hoffman and she like Jerry Hall played Mrs. Robinson on The West End (UK's equivalent of Broadway). Before she did Dallas she was in a Peyton Place TV Movie with Marj Dusay who not only had a recurring role as Blair Warner's Mother on The Facts Of Life but made a name for herself on various Soap Operas most notably Capitol (where she worked with Jess Walton who played Kelly Harper would would later play Jill Foster Abbott # 7) on The Young & The Restless. She would later work on Santa Barbara, then play Alexandra Spaulding #2 on Guiding Light then Vanessa Cortlandt on All My Children.
This love triangle between JR, Cliff, and Sue Ellen was ridiculous. They both have slept with the woman, and everything. But they both were their own worst enemies because they always trying to top one another.
Cliff's biggest regret. When she does divorce J.R., after she leaves Dusty, Cliff wants her back and Sue Ellen turns him down & remarry's J.R. Sue Ellen knew J.R. destroys anyone who wants Sue Ellen.
This is the vintage J.R. that viewers loved. When Cliff Barnes struck oil and Bobby won the contest for Ewing Oil, J.R.'s character began to change. Those two things were watershed moments in the decline of J.R. Ewing. By the end of the show, he was a comical figure.
JR was evil, but Cliff also. Pushed Sue Ellen back and when the baby was born: I´m gonna have them both, Sue Ellen and the baby. What a liar and hypocrate.
The Jacket JR is wearing was the Same one that he wore when Jock was spending time with Julie Grey. They had Dinner and JR confronted Miss Ellie about what Jock being with Julie Grey and what she was going to do about it.
You now what's so sad. Both of them are spiritually and morally bankrupt. Cliff knows he can't keep Sue Ellen in the Lifestyle she's grown accustomed to while Sue Ellen is like Carmella Soprano knowing her status is because she's Mrs. JR Ewing. When JR drove Sue Ellen back to Southfork it was like going back to Prison for a Parole Violation.
Sue Ellen found out that Cliff wanted to be “a politician” more than we wanted Sue Ellen; finding out Cliff loved his “political ambitions” more then he ever did Sue Ellen hurt her feelings. That just goes to show running to someone else outside the marriage for “comfort” isn’t the answer.
Only Cliff would think that dumping his archenemy’s wife and making the obviously best move for his political career would be some kind of genius decision.
Cliff Barnes & JR Ewing had one thing in common, they both slept with both Julie Grey & Sue Ellen Ewing. Also Cliff reminds me of Cutter Dale Amberville in I'll Take Manhattan, he sleeps with his Sister In Law Lily but he doesn't care for her, he uses her to get back at his Brother Zachary for being the Family Favorite conveniently forgetting that Zachary worked hard to take care of him, Their Mother and their Sister Emily after their Father died. He paid for Cutter's College Tuition, he never had to work got a generous weekly allowance. When Lily got pregnant for him, she was willing to leave Zachary for him but Cutter wrote her a Kiss Off Letter, and moved to San Francisco. Cutter eventually got his comeuppance and realized "Don't Bite The Hand That Feeds You" and "Always Be Kind To Friends!"
So much History with that Station Wagon. I remember Miss Ellie & Sue Ellen went out and didn't invite Pam. I thought that was so cruel. Also The Station Wagon was used in Spy In The House when Miss Ellie & Sue Ellen picked up Lucy from School, while Bobby was working at Home because they were putting the finishing touches of his New Office. He was still making his Bones at Ewing Oil.
Dear God, I wonder if John Ross ever knew about this "threat" that his Father laid on his Mother. Cliff try as he might will never hold a Candle to JR. The Ewing Name is more "Powerful" than Barnes ever will.
When I look at this scene with Cliff & Sue Ellen it reminds me of Cutter Amberville in I'll Take Manhattan, he sleeps with is Brother's Wife Lily, she gets pregnant for him, and she wants to leave her Husband Zachary for him but Cutter wants no part of her or the child. He leaves and gives her a Sob Letter saying that she wouldn't be able to handle being the Wife of an up and coming stockbroker. His Apartment Alone could fit into her Living Room. She was better off with Zachary and The Children needed to have a proper homelife.
It's taken 30 years after this first came out for me to notice all the women on the show when talking end every sentence with a whisper. OMG! They've been doing Burt Lancaster impressions all this tine!
Cliff makes no sence he feuding with J.R and no matter what cliff pulls it’s not good enough to hurt J.R but whatever he does to cliff like set him up Like he set cliff up and sat back and watched cliff bankrupt his mothers company that was the best J.R knows what to do to ruin Cliff Barns
If you just find out what the Blackmailer cares about and use it to destroy them, then you achieve victory. There can be no morales, empathy, mercy or compassion with those who have none. Just war.
Robert Masina exactly. That’s why in later seasons when he cheated on her again she had no right to get upset. She was a tramp. Just as Jock called her when Bobby “died”
She was definitely no better and you can’t feel too bad for her because she ran back to J.R and also she had an affair with Peter, Lucy’s boyfriend/John Ross counselor and even informed the kid she wasn’t going to leave J.R for him. She led that kid on. Lol
Sue Ellen might as well face facts. She can't go from being Mrs. JR Ewing to being Mrs. Cliff Barnes. She would miss the Money, Status, Power that comes with being a Ewing. No Dinner, No Cocktails, no status.
laminage later on Cliff became rich when his mama died so he would've been able to provide for Sue Ellen the way Jr did. At least Cliff don't live with his parents
Yes, buy no matter who Sue Ellen was with, it always came back to JR. Hw as as addictive to her as any Bottle Of Alcohol, no matter how many times she tried to assert herself, JR always dragged her down.
I believe Sue Ellen really just wanted to be loved by her husband JR,the rest was just window dressing,oh maybe at first that may have been what she wanted, but a certain part of her grew inside to want something else, unfortunately it alluded her,its a sad scene.
Sue Ellen married JR for his money, so she stayed bought. He even put up with her affairs because he knew in the end he could use them against her if she tried to leave him, which she never had the guts to do. I have actually seen this in some people of lesser means. The woman never worked or got any kind of skill where she could support herself. So the guy is like "you want to leave, leave." They might leave for a few days or even weeks, but then reality sets in and back home they crawl.
Miss Ellie wanting her grown sons living under her roof was a lot - particularly when 1 was JR😂 maybe if she built separate little houses for each family like they had at the Kennedy compound Gary might have returned.
