Absolutely wonderful!!!!! Gives people a life again, to become productive citizens, not jail inmates and feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness. So heartwarming to see real human progress!
I saw this entire presentation, last year, a the American Society of Landscape Architects state conference. This is so impressive and to see people actually living there is wonderful. Thanks to all who saw this visions AND saw it through fruition.
Every large and mid sized cities in each state should be madatory to tear down these abandoned buildings and have at least two tiny homeless communities. Also old, abandoned schools would make great studio, 1/2 bedroom apts. Zoning laws really need to be updated and changed.
Safety & security imperative to all humans...especially vulnerable females... all that's needed - no mansion - practical & sensible... wonderful - Godspeed to the wonderful caring peeps behind this... "The measure you measure out...will be measured back... shaken down... overflowing.."
What a beautiful idea. Thank you for sharing and praying this grows to bless even more homeless citizens to have a safe and nurturing home to restart their lives again.
Attitudes really have to change in this country. We have been force fed consumerism for so long that most of us have lost perspective, falling into the 'keeping up with the Jones' paradigm, where you feel like you have to have the biggest, the best and the latest to feel like a success. People who voluntarily step away from all that and just go with the least that they need to be happy are looked at as 'strange' if they can afford more, and contempt if they can't. That *has* to change.
@@wickednwyld Attitudes need to change in this country. One-size-fits-all Communism does a d**n poor job of solving problems... Blaming 'Consumerism' while promoting Commumism/Globalism leads to us purchasing more stuff, rather than raising quality of life. Promote buying local/US made. People used to make do more when goods were a little more expensive, but conversely there was less homelessness. There us correlation for good reason. We had jobs that paid enough for real necessities. It was also more ecologically sound when we recycled assiduously and didn't rely on go oi ds shipped from afar...
It is idiocy to think that all needs are identical... Firstly, people need jobs to pay for this. Some people are gig workers or work-at-home and need more space to accomodate their business enterprise. It's what works for *some.* Some may need their own laundry area for higher clothes-cleaning needs, or more food storage/prep space for special dietary needs. This housing is not exactly disaster resistant, either. It is post-disaster housing for these people, and at best a temporary measure for many. This is better than tents, cardboard boxes and shopping carts, by any means, but saying this is good enough doesn't reflect individual realities. Your arrogance is appalling.
It all depends on different folks situations And circumstances. Some folks are parents with one child or more children and need a 2, 3, 4, or 5 bedroom house or apartment so the kids can have ample space. But if you can't afford much and can't get any rental assistance, a small place is better than anybody being homeless.with kids or not.
It all depends on the life style and what you can afford. If I made a good income or wealthy, I am not going to live in a tiny home village. I am lucky to own my very first house and live by my self in a 3 bedroom house, two bathrooms. I remember when I first applied for the USDA Rural Development program for the low income, one of my coworkers said to me: "I thought that is for single moms? You don't have any children or even married!" I then replied: "You must have a full time job in order to apply for a government loan program as it is not for those on welfare or strictly for single moms.
Beautiful story thank God and I wish every state would do that cuz in about 60 days me and my 10 year old will be homeless but I'm not giving up I no God will open those doors for us also,,, and to the two beautiful young ladies that told the story great job and God bless all of you with so much more.....!!!!!!!! Much love from Phoenix Arizona!
Those Tiny home are nice I wish they powers that be here in Las Vegas would do that; a small, living room, small bedroom, and bath. I will pray for it.
How wonderful, bless those who live in it may their lives be blessed and God direct their path. I love that corner dining area it looks so cosy and homely. I am just so glad for those who have found a roof over their heads. Guys get going get tubs and containers and start growing your potatoes herbs onions pumpkin and just enjoy your blessing. May the Lord be with you all. Form a loving community and you will make it living in peace. the bible says how wonderful for brothers to live in unity with each other. There is a blessing contained in that unity.
About this whole program or Janie Salazar? Cause I can give you a little more info about Janie. She's my grandma but her story came to an end not that long after all this..
Please, let’s start doing this in every town. I know if people knew the benefit for all with this, many caring people would donate to help. Just needs organization.
What your doing is amazing. It's a great need across the United States of America. This is a great need for the elderly, veterans, disabled, homeless, single parents, low-income families. There needs to be more places like this across the United States of America. May Our Creator of the Whole Universe bless you all for what you're doing.💙💙💙🇺🇸
And why doesn’t the 1% Club in this country donate their millions to a cause like this. Many of the super rich class in this country give money to charities that are nothing but shelters for their billions. Maybe giving their money to a wonderful program like this would be better for their heart and mind instead of the constant pursuit of their inflated egos. These are REAL PEOPLE IN REAL NEED. They deserve decency and respect. Not everyone makes it in this life. Solving Homelessness in this country and others would be a huge humanitarian trophy far more important than charitable tax shelters. If I were still wealthy I would be giving as much as I could. Black Friday in 2008 wiped me out financially and I lost everything I had and my family was devastated by it. The CEO’s and money managers got bonus’s that year even though their poor decisions and management cost me my entire financial folder. I now live in a tiny house on a tiny budget. One of my children passed away because we were unable to help her meet her medical needs. It was unfair, unkind and brutal. My outlook on money is so polar opposite now. I am grateful to God for the little I have. I have nothing!! But guess what it’s still more than a homeless soul has to live on. If you weren’t wiped out by the Devils that run Wall Street , think long and hard about your future and along the way try and save some of your money for a good cause like this. They need our help desperately and will still do whatever I can to help, why can’t you? God bless them all, I pray for them. Peace ✌🏻❤️🇺🇸
I totally agree. And it needs to start with the greedfreaks sititng with huge sums of money at their disposal: Mark Cuban and Roger Staubach. Cuban is a sorry ass joke. His offices have been right down the street from these cottages for years and I promise you that this billionaire is nothing but a cheapee. And Stuabach is a joke too. He sold his real estate company years ago and is sitting on around 1/2 billion dollars. His charity foundation is a major disgrace for someone of his wealth.. His foundation tells nothing about what he's doing charity wise, and the few donations he does make are never over $20,000. What's that when he's sitting on millions and millions of dollars. Just look into Staubach and try to find any major donations by him in Dallas. There are none.
As far as I know; there isn’t this kind of housing in Louisville, Kentucky; but I wouldn’t be surprised if this kind of housing happens in the near future.
They are Tiny but above all they are these blessed peoples HOMES NOT COTTAGES ! HOMES !!!!!! God bless the people involved, truly you are a blessing! Thank you 😊💓
That's absolutely wonderful I'm happy to hear that this program is a success. I'm really glad for the individuals who are receiving housing. I hope many other cities will go with a tiny house project. It seems to be a fantastic solution.
Billionaires like sorry ass Mark Cuban. What a miserable human being he really is. Just look into Cuban and try to find any major donations to a homeless shelter in Dallas over the years. He's worth over 3 billion dollars and he alone could easily solve the homeless problem in Dallas. If he gave matching funds up to 50 million dollars in donations unbelievable things could happen in Dallas. That kind of money could build thousands of these small homes. And, please understand, 50 million dollars is chump change for someone like Cuban. Yes, chump change! SO why doesn't the media and these shelters start putting pressure on these rich people in Dallas to start donating? Believe me, if you were to start exposing some of these greedy and selfish multi-millionaires and billionaires something wonderful would start to happen. But nobody wants to take the lead. I simply call them cowards. Mr. Rawlings is a multi-millionaire so why doesn't he start a campaign to shake the wallets of his fellow rich folk? Overall, something is very wrong with this picture in Dallas,Texas.
@Mark Pfeifer So how did Cuban get this $3bil? That's right, he gave goods & services people valued _more_ than the $3bil they _voluntarily_ gave Cuban. Were he to be worth $30bil, that would be by giving people 10X the goods & services. Thank you Mark!
This is so wonderful! There are homeless people that actually do have jobs, but just cannot afford the rent. But what is so sad is that there nearby communities that would not allow this in their neighborhood, in fear of drug addicts, alcoholics and criminals.
I would love to see this happen around the world,so many would call this their own castle..All we need at the end of the day is our own small safe warm space. We are doing a tiny build. We have lived in a cabin 8 x 3 m2 for 1 & 1/2 years and are now turning a 40 foot container into kitchen living room. We are not many years away from retirement and wanted to be mortgage free when the time comes. We also want to show people you CAN build on a small budget if you are willing to put in the work.
When people don't think someone cares, they're wrong,I care cause I use't to be in the same situation, but I had to jeopardize something so I put away the alcohol and drugs and began to focus on the real reality and the people who I thought was my friends, was only out to get what I work for $,but I was so blinded by the generic things and generic friends, but now I still go around those people and ask them do they wanna get high? They say(hell yeah)so I lead them to my church and they get mad,but I get high on the word of God!!!!
I think it's a great solution for a great price, I think in the 21st century, there should be housing , no matter how basic, for the cities homeless, There would be less tent cities, which don't belong in business areas.
Solution for what? People who are bums are enabled, not dissuaded by better and more free stuff. As the person in the video said, she likes her free house because it allows her to do even less work.
I would love to live in such a place.. N.Y the city that never sleeps is also the city that doesn't give a shit about there homeless. I am 47 years old and have applied to so many lottery apts liw income honsetly anything but since I'm not an addict, alcoholic,or a woman of 10 children I only have a son who is 29 and yes I had him young but learned my lesson but then lost everything after a nasty divorce I never thought it would be this hard to find an apt. This would be a blessing and I wouldn't mind getting my hands dirty to build my own I just want a home😥
