No one told me Dallas was good! I prefer to watch old shows compared to what they have out there now. I see why my mom was always telling me to hush when this show would come on! Ha!
The problem was Mitch realizes at the end of the day whether Lucy works or not he would never be good enough for her because she comes from e family with money who will take care of her no matter what. He wants her to dummy down so he can feel superior.
"Something has value only when you work for it." Well, Mitch, Jock was out there wildcatting for oil before you were even a thought in the world. He created an oil empire and worked hard his entire life. I'd say the Ewing wealth was earned. God, Mitch was a punk!
This was a great scene for the character of Lucy and Charlene Tilton played it so well. She was a wonderful part of the show. It was a shame they axed her after the seventh season.
Actually Tilton wasn't axed from the show. She had a parent who was going through health issues, and Charlene was simply finding it more difficult to find the time to act and look after her mother. If you remember she left the show once before but Larry Hagman talked her into coming back.
Watching this and waiting for my brother to bring my fruit punch cause watching Mitch as his insecurities can dehydrate you. He wasn't right for Lucy and such a jerk when the only thing she wanted to do was love him.
Mitch was such a jealous jerk. All Lucy wants to do is provide the them. According to Mitch, Lucy is supposed to be supportive and understanding about his wants, needs, problems, etc., but God forbid he is the same for her. Good for you Lucy you deserve better!
Ug and there are still men today that are do intimidated by their wife working ; This was pathetic how Mitch thinks Lucy should be happy living like a pauper . Here she is NOT LIVING off of her family money, goes out and earns her own , to share with him , & he throws a fit like a bratty child, instead of appreciating how she honored his wishes not to live off her family money .
Mitch probably couldn't stand the thought that Lucy has become the financial breadwinner in their marriage and that makes Mitch feel inferior and probably somewhat jealous too Mitch has this old school thinking that he believes that the husband should bring home the paycheck instead of his wife and also he's incredibly prideful as well .
Why she didn't do that anyway the producers should have crossed her over sometime but Lucy didn't know why Val left and had trouble with her as her mom.
@@robertscott8344 If I understand correctly, the producers decided against crossing Lucy over to Knots more often because they wanted to Gary and Valene to seem younger to the audience. Having an adult daughter would reinforce their being “older” in the audience’s eyes.
He wanted her to get a job or do something to keep her busy yet she does and he still not happy. He wants his wife to stay at home and be a doctor's wife just waiting up on him. Back then men wanted to be the provider and their wives place was in the home.
She did and a lot of men tried to use her: Alan Beam, Casey Denault, Eddie from the diner. Mickey was worthy of her. He changed and then got a raw deal in the end.
The one she was going to marry until he confessed to being gay at least cared about her even though he realized he was partly using her in the hopes he could change, but that obviously couldn’t have worked out anyway.
Mitch stop acting like a.... his insecurities were disgusting. As much as Lucy annoyed me I have to hand it to her; she really tried in this crappy marriage. He should have married a waitress. Lucy and Mitche's storylines always bored me.
Mitch and Lucy were a beautiful beautiful couple. Lucy tried over and over again to do it so many times Mitch's way. No matter what Lucy did or how much she tried it was never good enough for him. He always, always constantly complained.
This scene when Lucy and Mitch trouble marriage they had a fight - it playing by Charlene Tilton and Leigh j. McCloskey thier tremendous 2 people in this show
Chandler, even Mitch's mother and Sister thought he was being a jerk. Mitch's mother pointed out his father would have accepted the job offered by the Ewings. Lucy didn't hae to work thanks to the Ewing money but she did try it and enjoyed earning her money.... but nooo that's not good enough for Mitch. he wants to be the only person working in the marriage while she sits at home being bored to death.
Mitch always felt inferior to Lucy because he didn't have Lucy's money. Lucy loved Mitch despite Mitch not having money. Mitch's inferiority complex killed this marriage.
Mitch was such a jerk his way of thinking was so old fashin. nothing wrong with both Husband and Wife working and making money.... only in his mind it is.
I didn't study medicine but if I were in Mitchell's position. I would take in a job at Ewing oil. The office staff I would also accept the condo and also letter on the house.
This is what I don’t get…. Mitch hates the Ewing name and money, but when he and Lucy separated… he remained living in the Ewing condo and Lucy moved back to the ranch. . Such a hypocrite
It was ludicrous because Lucy would do things his way and try over and over again again. But no matter how many times or how much she tried, he was impossible to please. It's a shame because I really liked them as a couple.
Scott Clayton- I liked Mitch. He was an independent guy going to school & developing his own principals, also he was very stubborn. I can understand why Lucy fell for him so quickly. He was prideful & didn't want to take anything from the Ewing's.
Mitch stood up for his sister Afton. He caught JR trying to force Afton to take a flight to the Bahamas with Vaughn Leland and punched him. Afton couldn't stand Leland.
