Thanx for this recipe Gitaji,. I am a South Indian, konkani, from Udipi, we have a similar dish of mixed vegetables in our community called ' gajbaje'! We add grated coconut as a base and no rice or dal. It is said we shud consume all types of vegetables in a year, so this is an annual preparation and a big delicacy!

Very nice recipe ✅, Love all your expressions when you tell a mythological story,.... thanks to both uncle and aunty, for taking us into this lovely ,homely journey 🙏
Thanks for introducing this new recipe to me aunty. I am amazed to watch how it keeps boiling in the clay pot even after it is removed from the stove. 😃👍
Namaste mam. Thanks for sharing an interesting recipe from Odisha cuisine. Its all your sincere dedication and commitment to the job that we too are learning new recipes from other state also and the story behind the Dalma recipe was also quite interesting. My pranams to both of you mam.
I absolutely love dalma!! Many south indians think.. its like kootu.. but no.. the masala is what gives the distinct taste. I have had the fortune of tasting the actual one in Puri Jagannath Mandir. I personally like to use all traditional indian vegs like raw plantain, sooran, yellow pumpkin, arbi, etc. If "gulla" brinjal is there, its great to use that too.
Ma'am another dish is left out. It's called tamatar khatta..which is sauteed tomatoes with an initial tadka of jeera with jeera green chillies and grated ginger..and cook the tomatoes till mushy u need to add some sugar or jaggery and some sliced khajoor or kishmish and cook all till it's soft and the water consistency very less.. and then papad or lizzat paapad would go well as a complete accompaniment. The tomatoes would add to tanginess for the meal combo..
Nostalgia for me on seeing this video aunty 😍 My friend Geethanjali from Bhubaneswar made this Dalma & I tasted several times from her kitchen. She was a padosi to me long before. Remembered her with U ❤
Geeta lord Jagannath bless you. Just on time maybe clairvoyance Tomorrow is amavasya tarpanam I'll ask Subhashini to cook dalma and rice which we will relish keeping you in mind. Basically we have to use raw Banana, Karela, etc so it will appease my ancestors also 🙏😘
Thank You ... Will Certainly Try This Delicious Orissa Dalma .... Would It Make A Difference to the Taste If One Uses Coriander & Cumin Powders Available & the Other Spices like Cinnamon , Cloves , Cardamom Etc In The Tadka ? Warm Regards 🙏
