A damaged Enkei car wheel came into the shop, and rather than melt it down, I decided to turn it into a new piece of studio equipment. I hope you enjoy. Don't forget to subscribe for more videos. www.justinsmakery.com #upcycle
Sweet. That walnut dust is some seriously murderous shite. If it were to be used as a banding wheel it would be a good idea to treat the walnut with a stabilizer. Have you ever used cedarcide/cedar oil? It's a liquid which reacts with the silica in the wood and basically turns the cellulose into something like wax. There's a food safe one that wood turners use for bowls. I used it on a white pine bench about 15 or so years ago, which has been sitting outside since then, and it held up for years with no other treatment.
Freakin awesome man. Hey honey, can you make me a banding wheel? Sure, let me get my lathe, a welder, a spare wheel from a Miata and some walnut... lol!
That's one beautiful piece of work! Amazing job you're doing. Are you still taking orders for cutting boards? Would love to have one of those walnut ones.
