while that certainly is true, NFL games are more akin to a hospital environment than the average place where people get cardiac arrests. Medical professionals all around and equipment with a fast route to hospital.
They do have the top trainers in the whole nation you do know. And they all have contact to the best doctors on the planet. Of course it’s gonna be incredible
That’s his childhood friend #30 look up the story it’s pretty cool how that got to the NFL together. He said I knew something was won’t immediately that’s one of my best friends #30 said that sorry I don’t know his name.
@@elizabethd8147 and there's no proof of what you're saying is true. What is true is that there were literal humans there to support this man and save his life.
The people with the most important job that night were the least paid people on that field. A huge thank you to the entire medical staff responsible for saving Hamlin. They’re the real heroes on that field that night.
The Bills players were crying because Damar was DEAD, and they knew it, they were mourning him there hoping the medical staff could pull off a miracle, and by the grace of God he survived (edit: It seems quite a lot of people don’t understand how God works, please humble yourselves, brothers and sisters)
@@aaronowens4801 You know how heart-related conditions are right? When someone dies, they’re dead for good, hence why I said grace of God, even Damar would say this
@@grant87 He died on the field, Damar himself said this, that he died on the field, and was eventually brought back to life (Albeit in a coma) at the Cincinnati Hospital
I was watching a movie after that I really wanted to watch this game with two great teams but this sad tragedy happened but I had to watch the whole coverage of this I was bored watching it I turn it off and put wwe on peacock tv to take my mind off this tragedy
Damar suffered from Commotio Cordis. Where you get hit at a certain rhythm in the heart and the heart actually stops. What a freak accident and luckily he survived
#64 for Bengals takes a knee right in front of Hamlin in first scene. Appears to say a prayer and sign cross with hand. He knew it wasn’t a routine injury
*I remember when this happened. It was all over social media, the news, people outside of football were sending him love. Thank you God that Damar is fine and was able to even speak after this tragic accident.*
10/3/2023(100 comments at this times) - I work in hospital setting (27yrs) I've done CPR. 2:23 seconds "He's been down for NINE minutes (Never a good thing) I was talking to 2 other medical family members on the phone at this point. The NFL did a good thing here by CX the game. Damar's CPR event & recovery should never be hidden by social media. TY for having this video The NFL films doesn't have it available - yet) This is such a good video for CPR & AED awareness. So sad to watch here absolutely, but very needed. The existence of Rapid Response Teams / Quick Response Teams (QRS) are needed very much so. The NFL needs to cover these teams better & way more in depth. Not just handing out awards for what they did on this day, but for what they need to do to proper for such events. TY again & Thank God he pulled through.
The league originally told the teams to wait 5 minutes and start playing again, the coaches however refused. Dont give the league ANY credit for cancelling this game, greedy bastards didnt give a fuck until they got absolutely blasted for it on social media.
They probably need to have the shoulder pads adjusted so it covers more of the chest It was a freak hit the Bengals player hit the one spot that triggers a traumatic Cardiac arrest(heart stopped).
We watched live too. I only knew what it was because there was a kid who died like this at a karate tournament back in 08. Got kicked in the chest right when his heart pumped and went into cardiac arrest.
One of the scariest moments in football in the last several decades at least. Never ever wish harm on a team or person just because you don't like them. God bless DH. I'm glad that he's made a great recovery 😊
That’s is best friend from grade school. Look up the story how they made it to the NFL together and always supported each other. He said he knew immediately something was terribly wrong.
this was the day after my daughter was born. we just got home and settled in and it was her first nfl game to watch with me, i know that sounds silly but my father and i were diehard bengals fans that watched every game we could together, just wanted to create a memory like that. ill never forget the shock of the whole experience, checking twitter every half hour for updates, the wholesomeness of fans from all over coming together in a time of uncertainty. just, wow.
I saw Damar that summer while I was hooping with some Bills players with my friends. He walked in the gym and said what’s up to all of us before we even noticed he came in. He gave all of us knucks too. When this happened I couldn’t stop thinking about that genuine act. Thank God he survived and is okay. He is a great guy
I texted a doctor friend of mine the minute it happened and said “what the hell was that?” And he goes “commotio cordis. Likely dead. Pray for a miracle.” I think the only thing that saved him other than the quick response was that he had so much oxygen stores from being a professional athlete. Normal people would’ve at the minimum had extensive brain damage after a few minutes of CPR.
I remember being in the car with my dad when this happened. We were listening it on the radio when he collapsed and at first I thought it was just a regular injury but when they came back, we knew something was terribly wrong and it was silent the rest of the car ride. It felt so surreal yet so frightening because we were so confused and worried about him.
Like lots of us, my son and I were watching this as it happened. It was scary enough, but then when the sideline reporter said the EMTs were doing CPR ... that's not something you're used to hearing ... still scares the holy hell out of me
You could tell that Bengals #20 knew it was something severe. When you play football, especially at the highest levels, you see guys get hurt. You know what concussions, knee injuries and all look like by how the player is hit and reacts. You just don't see someone get up like everything is fine and then just go limp.
1:54 I will never forget the moment they showed Josh Allen with his hands over his mouth; my heart just fell, because I knew then that Damar's life hung in the balance.
I remember after this happened there were actually comments made by people on social media about how upset they were the game had to momentarily be stopped. If that is not humanity in a nutshell then I do not know what is. Sad that some people do not have enough common sense and decency to realize a life is a heck of a lot more important than a football game.
I'm from the UK and know exactly 0 about this sport. However, I was holding my breath watching this. I'm so pleased to read that Damar pulled through - the chances of that happening outside of a hospital are so slim, it was wonderful to hear of a positive outcome. 😄🙏 I watched this video in the first place because my mum passed away from sudden cardiac arrest a few months ago, and I keep torturing myself, wondering if she suffered or knew what was happening. I can't bear the thought of that. From what I've seen here, it happens in literally seconds. If so, that is a small comfort. I was told by doctors it would have been quick, but seeing something and being told about it are very different things. I hope with all of my being that that was the case for my mum. ❤
Can't overstate how scary this was. I'm a Bills fan and I remember waking up the morning of the game thinking something bad was gonna happen. But my idea of "something bad" was that the Bengals were gonna blow us out or Allen or Diggs would be hurt before the playoffs. Never imagined anything like this. Hugely thankful he's ok, God's watching over us.
With as a big as an audience as that, there's always one person that has to ruin everything and dampen the mood typically by doing something stupid for laughs or just by pure idiocy. That being said, I was glad that everybody in the crowd took the moment seriously and stayed respectful from start to finish. It was an unfortunate scenario that brought everybody together in the end. Even if I'm super late to the party, I'm thankful Damar Hamlin is safe and healthy again.
Texted my friends that I was pretty sure I had just seen a man die on live TV. The medical staff at the hospital and the first responders and trainers at the stadium brought him back. Just amazing. Also, a week later, Packers linebacker Quay Walker pushed a member of the Lions training staff on the field and got ejected.
this was super scary to watch especially because of how quickly it happened. great shot of Josh Allen and Joe Burrow standing side by side in solidarity along with both teams and coaches all uniting together for the safety of Damar Hamlin. football is definitely a tough sport and i have the utmost respect for all the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals supporting each other and for coming to visit Damar in the hospital. great show of support by Cincinnati being there for Damar's Family giving them food and any other assistance needed.. incredible job by the Trainers for both teams recognizing how serious the situation really was and immediately running onto the field giving cpr for over 9 minutes. Damar Hamlin sure had a lot of Guardian Angels
Hamlin later confirmed that he had an episode of commotio cordis, an extremely rare condition in which cardiac rhythm is disrupted by a blow to the chest during a specific 40-millisecond span in the heart's electrical cycle. The condition is 97% fatal if not treated within three minutes.
Watched this live. Massive love and respect for the medical staff (obviously) but also the players and the fans. Both showed immense care and concern and showed that this is more than a game ❤
Damar has been a healthy scratch for the first half of the 23 season. It would be something if he was going to play in the SNF game. But I think the Bills will protect him and the franchise because (God forbid) if this were to happen again involving him there would probably be lots of insurance and other issues the general public doesn't know about. I'm glad he's been good for 10 months now. Doing commercials locally here in Western NY.
Was watching this live,& the response blew me away..The crowd sensed the danger,& went silent,& the best thing ever, was the coaches getting together to tell the network as well as league officials that the players come first...Both teams were to upset to continue,& the NFL tried to make them play anyway...BEST WISHES TO MR. HAMLIN...
Its tough watching this again. Im a jets fan but i always enjoy watching the bills when im not watching the jets. Seeing these men cry and pray to whatever they believe in for a miracle just hurts the soul
I watched this live. I didn't care for either team as it was just background noise for me, but I realized that this was the quietest stadium I have ever seen and I knew I had to pay attention.
I watch alot of RU-vid vids of soccer players collapsing. Damar fell exactly like them. He was dead on that field. As horrible it is to say he was. He even died in the ambulance. It truly is a MIRACLE he was saved.
Commotio Cordis. During heartbeat cycle, there's a narrow window where if sufficient pressure or impact happened on the heart, disrupting the electrical signal, it can mess with the heart leading to fibrillation and eventually cardiac arrest. It's a super freak rare incident, little to do with genetics or heart condition, or damage on the heart tissue, just a big enough impact on the chest that has to happen within 40 microsecond window of a heartbeat cycle.
I always thought this game was unfair, because since it got cancelled the chiefs got the one seed. But I slept better knowing I saw a 16-game team, possibly for the last time.
I’ll never forget this it truly was the scariest in all my years of watching sports. The stadium just going dead silent is the most chilling part, glad he made a recovery.
@@stiggyjiggler Christians all have different reasons for praying to God, but the one reason we DO share is to just speak with him because we know he's always listening and we know he'll always do what's right for us, and that's all that matters. Call us crazy, delusional or whatever it will not change the way we see him. 🙏😌
@@Mster_Jbecause someone bought the advertising space. I doubt they appreciated their stuff being shown while Hamlin was suffering from cardiac arrest.
They went to commercial not to get them “in” but rather as a sign of respect for what was occurring on the field. There really was nothing for the announcers to say, and the scene for many was very traumatic. I think they covered it as best as they could. If it had been a Sunday game, they probably would have just switched to another game, but couldn’t do that on MNF.
And to think of all people to make the tackle on Tua on his third concussion that could possibly be career ending makes you wonder what is going through his mind.
Judging by the location where the Bengals player and Hamlin collided on that tackle, I am thinking that Hamlin suffered a condition known as commotio cordis, which is what happens when an object (such as, in this case, a football helmet) strikes the chest directly above the heart during a critical time in the heartbeat, causing both an abnormal heart rhythm and cardiac arrest immediately.
@@rulingmoss5599 here’s something to research. What was the rate of heart attacks in America before the COVID vaccine, and what is it today? I’ll give you a hint. It doesn’t support your conspiracy lol
Its wonders how emergency services reacts and attend to the person in need, bringing them back making sure there safety is confined and that you are protected, God bless the emergency services
