It almost has to be two PM stainless steels forged into Damascus, because PM steel is a completely homogenous material. The whole point of using gas-cooled powder is to provide a uniform grain size and molecular mixing, which would make it very difficult to consistently sinter the steel powders into Damascus pattern billets.

I made 2 knives thus far with Damasteel. It was a beautiful steel to work with. Absolutely love the stuff! I used Leo IV which I believe is almost out of stock. Glad i got a chance to use it before it is all gone.

So does the patent for damasteel mean that I'm not allowed to use powdered steels to make a damascus blade? Or is it only a specific powdered steel that's patented?

your damascus is second to none it’s a pleasure to work with looks fantastic an fairly priced for the process it takes to make it although my old lady would disagree so it’s been a little while ..... what i would do with a 24” x 2” piece of that beautiful piece of metal ( it be fun to work with) so if you have an scraps don’t be shy to contact me i’m waiting on a piece of RWL 34 now my first piece of that

So you basically take two blanks of powdered steel and forge them into damasteel the same way you would damascus.... Your just using powdered steel blanks instead of ingot steel?

@@shonaoneill5151 this channel is dumb, and so is the steel factory Damast. It's not even close to the quality of German Steel, let alone further away. If you know what I mean.
